I've got a Canon Digital Rebel XTi (my first Digital SLR though I've used analog SLRs before). It's pretty nice - a lot better than my other cameras. I haven't gotten any other lenses for it yet. I'm looking to get one of their image stabilizer lenses and a macro lens as I like to do extreme close up shots.

CRAZY East West Deal! Buy 1 Get 1 Free!
Vurez replied to big giant circles's topic in Music Composition & Production
Hmmm... this IS tempting, though I'm not too keen on getting another dongle. I've been trying to just stick with syncrosoft. -
So this is just for original albums, right? So if I were to release my own full Remix Album, I would still need to post it in the WIP forum?

Ys: The Oath in Felghana Ys: Origin Seriously. At least check the links and look at the pics and demo videos to see if they are something you are looking for.

Easy, Snake Cube! Errr... Solid Snake. I should have started out with this: Also, I made some changes to the original. Perhaps this one would have been better?
-
Maybe I should have said it was a game from the get-go. For some reason I thought people would see the doctor with the light and wile e. coyote and figure it out right away. Maybe there should have been other smaller puzzles building up to it so people get in the right mind frame? Do you think it would have helped the just have 1,000,000 in the middle instead of a 1,000,000 dollar bill? Oh, and I must ask, at point point did the hints give it away? Hint 1, Hint 2, Hint 4??
-
Heh, no. Alright, I made this the other night and it seems I made it way too hard and cryptic. So I made some hints. Click here for hint #1 Click here for hint #2 Click here for hint #3 Click here for hint #4

Alright, I'll narrow it down a bit. It represent's a work of fiction. It could be a story, a movie, a game, etc. It's not obscure, but I realise there may be people here or are not totally familiar with it. Everyone here has heard of it I'm sure. And some are probably way more familiar than others. People who are not as familiar with it than others will probably not be able to guess what each image represents. They might be able to notice a few coincedences though, and still be able to guess. Oh and one other thing: all of the things that the pictures represent can be put into two groups - the six in the middle, and the all the others. The six in the middle are more important. The others can all be grouped together - they are of equal status.
-
No. And it doesn't represent anything vague either.
-
Each picture represents something in some way or another. Together they all represent something greater which is the answer. Tomorrow, I'll put out some hints.
-
Can anyone decipher this picture puzzle? If you figure it out, hide the answer so one has to highlight it to see it. I'm curious how difficult this is. Click here to see a larger version. EDIT: Due to some suggestions I've decided to give some guidance from the beginning. It's video game related. Don't check out the hints farther down the thread unless you're really stumped. The hints really give away a lot.

Well, I finished my Pharaoh Man mix. It's available at my site - http://www.vurez.com if anyone wants to check it out.

guitar synth recommendations
Vurez replied to TheGuitarHero's topic in Music Composition & Production
They are pretty much the same. You can swap out the sample patches between the two libraries without totally changing anything. What I mean is, you can sequence something using the clean guitar and then if you want you can load the distorted version instead and nothing majorly changes aside from the tone of the distortion samples. I can't remember if the distorted version had a few extra patches or not though. I'll have to look at it again and let you know. I don't use it that much as it can be a bit of a headache with all the different patches you need to use to get a convincing sound. I do wonder if someone could make a good guitar library that works like Garritan's Stradivari Violin. As far as what zircon stated, I'm pretty sure the creator of the library said the distortion is a seperate recording and not just the clean samples put through an amp/effects processor. I could be wrong though. -
guitar synth recommendations
Vurez replied to TheGuitarHero's topic in Music Composition & Production
I have both. I got them pretty much when they first came out and I must say I rarely use the distorted version at all. The clean version usually ends up sounding much more real after going through an amp/effects processor so I go with that one. I must warn the library is huge and is a memory hog. It's also kind of a pain to sequence with as well even though it's the best sounding electric guitar library out at the moment. -
I have the rock arrange CD. It's pretty good. There are some tracks that I really like (Yamato Man being my favorite), and some that are... meh. It was definately worth the money, though I think they slowed too many of the tracks down.
-
A couple of days, couple of weeks, or a few months for me. I found it's taking much longer for me to finish an arrangement now than when I first started. It's partly because I just used Reason in the beginning and it's really quick and easy to work with. Now I moved on to Cubase using Kontakt, GVI and various VSTs and it takes FOREVER to finish a mix in that environment.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
Vurez replied to Arek the Absolute's topic in General Discussion
Well, I picked it up last week and I'm at the end of chapter 2. The slowdown isn't that bad really. I got used to it. Yeah, it's a little annoying at first but it's definately not a deal breaker, especially considering how awesome FFT is. -
I still haven't finished it yet, unfortunately.
-
Well, since its been a long time now and the project still doesn't have any signs of being completed anytime soon and also since I haven't released any new music in ages, I went ahead and made one of my mixes available on my website. http://www.vurez.com/arrangements.htm

I think another issue is that there are a lot of people playing music on poor speakers/sound systems that have low wattage. A few people have told me some of my older mixes were too quiet even when they cranked the volume to the max. Perhaps due to the loudness war, many manufactures feel they don't need to allow one to raise the volume much? My car stereo has another issue which is somewhat similar. It sounds fine when playing loud-mixed tracks, but if you play back quieter tracks and crank up the volume, you get some hissing which can be pretty annoying.

I believe siven7 was refering to this one: It's a true classic, and yeah this one would definately grab someone's attention as well, though not in a good way.

I don't know about RTS games, but digital board games, and multiplayer turn-based strategy games would be kind of cool on it. Of course it's way too expensive at the moment for these uses. I would think precision would be an issue for a lot of it's possible uses. Maybe they could make a special glove you could wear for it that has pointy fingertips?

I hate it when a product I paid full price for goes on sale for super cheap. Congratulations guys on your insane deal

Mega Man 3 - Top Man Spun Wild (warning--FL samples alert!)
Vurez replied to DDRKirby(ISQ)'s topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Not bad as far as trances go. Even though you stated you had some purpose in using only FL samples, you should really consider redoing it at some point with better samples. I like the drums at around 3:40. Good beat. djliquidice brought up a good point with the whitespace. Thicker synths can also help the whitespace issue.
