  1. I can't say as my non-vgm tastes have been altered by remixes. Thing is, even though I listen to the variety of genres available on here, they're all based on VGM, and there's just something about VGM that makes it enjoyable regardless of the genre. I tend to look for that quality in the music I listen to outside of VGM, but honestly outside of certain Metal genres, I've not really found it. I tend to describe it as an 'epic' quality. One of the defining features of certain metal genres (ie Power Metal) is that 'epic' feel to the music. So I stick to metal, mostly. And classical. BTW, if you've found you enjoy Symphonic Metal, Epica, Kamelot, and Nightwish might be some bands that you'd enjoy. Meanwhile, I'ma check out Delain.
  2. One o' my favorite games, with some o' my favoite music, remixed by some o' my favorite remixers. Awesome job!! Lookin' forward to the next album.
  3. Soooooooo, after waiting 5 months and change, I've been given the "Nice try, but no" email regarding this remix. Sux, but thems tha breaks. This means I'm back to working on the track. So based on this feedback I've tried to, at least, start taking steps to reach said "next level." I'm still gonna need help, though, so any specific feedback I can get would be appreciated. Y'know, stuff that'll actually point me in the right direction. 'Cause as much as I appreciate the feedback I got in the email, phrases like "The marcato strings in particular sound very even" mean nothing to me. "Even" is bad? How so? I have a vague idea, but am not certain. That being said, I do want to emphasize my appreciation for the feedback in the rejection email. Thanks.
  4. Happy birthday!
  5. Saw this and knew I had to download.
  6. Cool idea. Took a listen to the Opeth one. The growls were okay. Probably sound better when mixed in with the music rather than just layered on top. The cleans... were amusing... lol. Sorry. Anyway... I kinda wanna request something by Blind Guardian, or Sonata Arctica, but I figure that'd just be evil... So, "Terminus (Where Death is Most Alive)" by Dark Tranquillity. Yeah.
  7. Trigger Happy ~Weird Al Yankovic
  8. Agreed. lol. I like it. Not a big fan of rap - okay, the only rap I ever choose to listen to is either by Weird Al or from OCR - but nonetheless, this song is awesome. That being said, compared to Hale-bopp's vocals on "Summertime," this is not exactly his best. That being said: moar vocal remixes!
  9. Sweet. Glad to see that there are some potential a cappella remixes to come.
  10. *Bump* Not getting a lot of feedback on this (however, thanks are in order to C-7 for replying) so I'm bumping this up to 'mod-review' to see what they have to say about it. Maybe get some pointers on production and whatnot. Thanks.
  11. Currently listening to Van Canto, and I had a thought: has anyone considered doing an a cappella remix? I know this isn't song specific, but it could be interesting to hear something like this done. I dunno. Just a thought. Maybe someone has already thought of this or even tried it already.
  12. Decided to revisit the VotL album the other day. I figured its been a while since it came out and my taste in remixes has expanded since then. Ran across this one. Dude... Epic!
  13. I'ma go out on a limb and say I really enjoy lyrical remixes (but I also really enjoy non-lyrical remixes too). Not sure why others do not, but to each their own. Anyway, really liking this mix. To point out what others have already said (and what BGC has already admitted), I'm definately hearing the Goo Goo Dolls influence. That was basically my first thought upon listening to this song. My other thought was "This is Epic!" And as far as the somewhat cheesy lyrics go... I listen to fantasy metal, so really, the cheesier the better Awesome mix.
  14. Source: So, I've actually hit a bit of a roadblock as far as music is concerned. But I've been sitting on this mix for a while, and I figured its time I posted it. I started working on this a while ago in an attempt to try a different style from my usual bombastic orchestral leanings. I think I succeeded half-decently. Not sure about the piano soundfont. It sounds okay to me, but like I've mentioned before, I'm not overly picky about such things. Hope you likes... Enjoy!
  15. Will be gone for a week. Just in case you were wondering. 'You' being anyone who might try to get in contact with me.

  16. Some reiteration of what others have said, but: Sixto Sounds Fishy goat Level 99 CarboHydroM LuIzA dimmer blackguitar Gux Joren de Bruin Nekofrog The Megas Game Over Prince of Darkness Stemage Armcannon BrainCells SnappleMan The Dual Dragons SNES Battle Medly (song, not artist, lol) Also check out: The Minibosses The Advantage Powerglove The NESkimos Metroid Metal and basically anything on Dwelling of Duels (There's also some awesome non-metal/non-rock stuff on OCR that is awesome as well that you should check out... just sayin') EDIT: Also check out the artist's webpages too. There are some awesome songs there that aren't always 'OCR worthy' but still worth listening to.
  17. Okay. Cool! Good information to know. Lol. Drummer's not a musician? I'd like to see people who think that tell it to this guy .Anyway, thanks for the input and the tips. Appreciated.
  18. Mmmm... the brick style was the only handheld I ever owned... still have it too. No games for it though. Thanks. I keep forgetting to include the source, lol. Yes, timpani indeed . Er... Flams? Ruffs? Yeah, I kinda just tacked that on cause it sounded cool, lol. I tried tying in a bit of a tempo change early on, when the piece gets quieter and smoother (first time through the B section of the source). So by accents/dynamics on some of the builds, are you saying, for example, moving from a slower tempo to a faster tempo during the build? Or something else? Yeeeeaaaaah... I tried it in different modes and keys and whatnot... it really, really did not sound good. At all.
  19. Yeah... so new version. Longer. Tried varying things up (for such a simple tune, that is)... Enjoy?
  20. Lol, alright. I'll keep that in mind. And thanks again for the help :D Its really appreciated. And like I said; no rush. (Seriously, it takes forever-and-a-day for songs to go through the panel, so whats a little more time, eh?) lol.

  21. Tried it... didn't sound so great. I think I'll keep it in it's regular ol' major key. Interesting suggestion though. Mayhaps a future mix in Dorian *shrugs*.
  22. Neat. I like it. Very enjoyable. Hope you finish it soon... so I can put it on my iPod... aaaand so we can finally have some good Pokemon remixes on this site...
  23. Okay so... I got bored. This is what happened. Thats usually how it works, truth be told. Obviously I need to get bored more often so I can get more work done, . Anywho, here be another orchestral mix from me. I've been meaning to tackle this theme for a while now, so I'm happy I finally got to it. Its kinda on the short side and I'm really not sure where else to go with this... I tried to sqeeze out as much variation as I could but... we shall see what you have to say on that. Also, when I started to get some substance to this mix, it kinda sounded like a theme you'd hear in a castle like Lindblum or something, so I kinda tried going with that kinda sound. And thus the title. So, enjoy! Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0GuW7x8X-Q
