  1. As usual, awesome stuff! I'm kinda curious, though: was the non-vgm reference at the end of Part II long or something? I ask 'cause if a non-vgm reference is grounds for disqualification how did Kidd Cabbage's 'Naito Obu [br00tl]' get through with the obvious "Trooper" (Iron Maiden) reference around 2:35 (ish)? Don't get me wrong, its an awesome remix and The Trooper fits very well. It just seems like a bit of a double standard to me... *shrug* Again, awesome music! Can't wait to see Part II on the front page!
  2. Thanks! Now my wall's not so empty.

  3. First off, I love it. It is awesome. That said, I must agree with AJ-enova. The rhythm guitar is a bit overpowering in the new version and makes the lead hard to hear in certain areas. I'm gonna have to go with the old one, personally.
  4. Dang, can't believe I forgot Within Temptation. Truth be told, though, the only time I actually hear any of these bands (with the exception of Nightwish) is on Pandora or through YouTube, lol. Listened to the Sinergy song. I liked it, although I'd have to agree the vocals were kind of dull... in the sense that they were very typical of what one might expect from a Power Metal band thats just getting started. Still good, though. Some others I just realized I forgot: After Forever
  5. Epica Guest Vocals (feat Yunhui Percifield) (feat Simone Simons)A Tout le Monde - Megadeth (feat Cristina Scabbia) She Who Summoned Me - Pyramaze (feat Christina Øberg) Enjoy!
  6. How did I miss this? I've been here since '04: how did I miss this!? This is quickly working its way up into my "Top 25 Most Played" list. Amazing song!
  7. I still need to get you your Music Theory book... I keep forgetting to have Amanda pass it along...

  8. Belated happy 10 year! Been here since '04 myself. Not a big poster (35 posts in the last five years ) but the majority of the music I listen to comes from this site. Heck, one of the first songs I downloaded from here was djp's "Gerudo Interlude". Listened to that song over and over again on the way to school through Grade 9. Keep the awesome music coming!!
  9. Amusing, to say the least, lol. Like you pointed out, definitely not submitable at the moment. However, if done right (and maybe with some adjustments to the lyrics) it might be able to get through the judges. "The Shining Blue Armor Decends" made it (granted I prefer the version on Sixto's website over the one here). Also check out "Spread Your Fire Against Me" and "Monkeys Disarm Your Cremlings" over on Dwelling of Duels. Those three might be useful, and they're the only Death Metal remixes I know of. Keep working on it, man.
  10. An interesting concept, to be sure, but it was kindof... i dunno, bland? There wasn't much punch to it or really a hook melodically or rhythmically in any of the songs that I could latch onto, y'know? And I'm not sure the death growls really fit with the rest of the sound. But thats my opinion. I can't write music (essp Metal) worth crap, so already you're doing better than me, lol. Keep working on it.
  11. Kinda reminds me of Super Smash Bros, as if it was the music for a Castlevania level. Sounds cool.
  12. Update. Finally. Been trying to work on it between school, work, and g/f, but it's slow (slow, slow, slow, slow) going. Maybe I've improved on it. Maybe I've made it worse. I dunno. I don't even know what to call this. Comments? Critisism? Suggestions? I might just send this in and see how it does... I dunno.
  13. First off I gotta say this definitely has promise. I listen to a lot of power metal myself, and this definitely fits. I do, however, agree with Diseased Project. I does need a bit of work. And it could definitely use some vocals, or more of a melody if you plan on making it an instrumental track. With a bit of work I'd totally add it to my music collection right along side DragonForce, Blind Guardian, Kamelot, and the like. Keep working on it. Like I said, it does have promise. Hope to hear more soon!
  14. So awesome... I love John Williams' work (especially the Star Wars Soundtrack) and I love Zelda music. Great combo. I too noticed the similarity between the two songs (although, admittedly I've never actually gotten that far in LttP... just have a folder full of Zelda MIDIs on my computer, lol. I think it'd be interesting to see how far this would get with the judges...
  15. Nice! Me likes! That said, I am in agreement with Rozovian. 'Tis more of a cover (which in itself isn't a bad thing. I love the NESkimos, Advantage, and Minibosses, and they're basically just VGM Covers) than a remix. My suggestion would be to listen to Sixto, SnappleMan, BrainCell, Scaredsim, LuIzA (and other amazing guitar remixers on this site that I missed) to see how they remixed the music. Not that you should copy them, but more just to get an idea of what it takes to get a guitar remix on the site. You do have potential and if this one does end up on OCR its going straight to my iPod. Keep working on it and it will get there.
  16. Updated. Okay, so I worked on the suggestions posted above, and hopefully that means a decent improvement in the song. Played around with Compression and EQ, tried my best to add a more human feel to the piano sections, fixed (hopefully) the snare drum issues, and took out the last bit while I work on it... not entirely sure what I'm going to do with it but I'll think of something. (I wanted to type R&R (read and review), lol... I blame many years spent on FictionPress and the midnight showing of X-Men Origins .) L&R I guess Hopefully there are improvements, and of course, I am open to any suggestions on how to continue improving on this piece. Edit: I'm sure most realize, but just in case, I'm just updating the link on my first post instead of adding a new link every time I update.
  17. Cool, thanks for the explanation! Very helpful
  18. Agreed. One o' my favorites. Which is why theres something like 4 or 5 different attempts at remixing it on my computer, lol... 2 of them metal... and both abandoned 'cuz, well, I can't actually play the guitar parts for it lol. Saddly, it was. BUT I am certainly going to work on it, after a bit of research, of course. Totally forgot I had a keychange in there... I don't think that was purposely done, either. I'll see if I can figure out how to transition into it... if not I'll just change it... *shrug* Honestly, I have no idea what any of that is... ; Everything I know about music is basically self-taught or learned from examining other people's music... Good piece of information to know. Thanks! However, as far as I can tell, the c-bass is panned dead center... I tried to pan it to the right, but it didn't have any effect... I'm thinking it has something to do with the soundfont I'm using... the orchestral strings one from DarkeSword's soundfont page. Dunno if that makes a difference or not. Again, thanks... I'ma go let this all stew in my brain for a bit before trying to implement it... 'sides I have a lot of school work that needs catching up on. Yay procrastination ;
  19. Woah! Metal parts = EPIC! Now you just need more of it, and less of the chip-tune clips. It sounded really cool at the beginning, going from chip-tune to epic metal, but probably should only happen maybe once more in the course of the song, maybe before a guitar solo or something. It does sound really cool, though, and if you can pull off your own progression for this (like Rozovian was saying) I can imagine it'll be pretty sweet. Keep working on it! Metal FTW
  20. Cool. Thanks, both of you. The help is greatly appreciated. Now I just wish I had more time to work on it, lol.
  21. Thanks for the feedback, Rozovian. Much appreciated. I'll take your suggestions into consideration... already trying to implement a few of them, actually. I do have a question, though: I'm currently playing around with the velocities of the notes for the piano sections, but I'm wondering if there are other ways to give it that human feel? Or is velocity basically it? (My appologies if its a completely dumb question, but alas I am not as well versed in music as I would like to be). Thanks again,
  22. New version. Played around with the snare drum idea... sound good? needs work? sucks horribly? lol.
  23. Hmmm... no, no marimba in there, lol. That might be FL Studio’s doing. The only percussion (thus far) is the crash cymbal. But the snare drums sound like a good idea. Thanks .
  24. Thanks, glasfen Not exactly sure where to take the remix after this point, though... Question: Does it need more percussion, or does it sound fine as-is?
