  1. A bump? No. This is akin to ramming the thread with a diesel locomotive running at top speed towing a full 100 car load of coal.
  2. *screenshot of the page as I read this post* UNDENIABLE PROOF! Also, this.

  4. Of course they're not sprites. But these 3D models can be seen as redrawn versions of those old 2D sprites, only using polygons instead of pixels (drawn in the sense of placing points on an X/Y/Z grid, instead of pixels on an X/Y grid). Of course, you could also call these polygons a remolding, seeing as working on 3D models is more like working in clay (start with a basic shape, and build from there). Regardless of how you look at it though, this is yet another version of familiar characters. And speaking of characters, I wonder if Balrog, Vega, Sagat and Bison are going to wind up appearing in some form. They're all that's missing at this point.
  5. Been a while since this thread was updated. Time to fix that. XOP So what is XOP? It's a shmup that used to be sold, but the author decided that it was a failure as shareware. So, he made it freeware. The graphics are bright and colorful, there's little flicker or slowdown, and it has a strange mixture of old DOS and Amiga Euroshmup influences in background and ship designs/colorings. Plenty of stages, several modes, and lots of options to tinker with. It's not a bad game at all, and despite how it looks, it was indeed made for new PCs, so it runs in XP without any problems. Oh, and it's got plenty of bullets and enemies to dodge, as it has a few roots in the Manic shmup world too.
  6. And Chun-Li's thighs continue to get stupidly thick.
  7. I believe it's, "You can get the runs, but not turn into Mr. Hyde." That's probably true. I replaced all of Jekyll's potion with prune juice. Hope he's got Charmin and some reading material. 'The Master of Ballantrae' should do nicely, since it will likely fit his mindset after a few return trips.

  9. "Those people"? Are you a Ross Perot knock-off now?
  10. Maybe they have some rare strain of a game-related Progeria
  11. That's the part I don't quite get. Why let yourself be bothered by some teenage stranger who doesn't like Sonic CD, Gargoyle's Quest II, or some other 16-bit or earlier game?
  12. For me, it's quite the opposite. Playing the fun games I grew up with takes me back to a simpler time... a time when polygon counts were unknown, my biggest concern was a test to study for, and I made tapes filled with my favorite tunes from various games so I could listen to them whenever I wanted. They bring back the memories of playing them for the first time, finally figuring out that tough section, and taking turns with friends as we tried to beat whatever game had our attention at that time. They're like a small time capsule being opened just for a short time, letting me forget about the bills, projects and daily life trials that always seem to need attention at any given hour of the day. Nostalgic? Perhaps. But it's hard not to smile a little when you hit the first dungeon in Phantasy Star and its familiar tune kicks in, or when you hear the Atari XE's version of the Mario Bros. theme start. Of course, those are the fun games. Pop in something like Slaughter Sport or Lord of the Sword, and it's entirely different.
  13. Send your hate mail to... Anyway, since I never made a serious comment on this, it is a shame he died (or took his life) at such a young age. He talked about how much he loved acting, and just as he reaches a status that could afford him a lot more acting choices, this happens. I didn't watch any of his movies (though I was looking forward to 'The Dark Knight'), but my condolences still go out to his family. For their sake, I hope this wasn't a suicide.
