  1. Less than 48 hours to go. Thank God I'm basically done (save for a few touch ups).
  2. Honestly? I hop on AIM about every once in a great while these days unless someone needs/wants to have a conversation about something that PMs and such won't work well for. I used to be on it every night, but after a couple years, I just got burned out on the whole thing. I stayed off for about two years or so, then started hopping on once in a blue moon. It's been this way for about... what, three or four years now? Something like that.

I logged on about five minutes ago though.

  3. Heh. Thanks. By the way, check your PM box.
  4. ... Wow. That game really hated your system Anyway, as long as it's a DOS game, that shouldn't be a problem. If you follow my guide, then you can just install it through DOSBox (assuming you have the CD/disc), and it should function fine after you've gone through the game's setup and everything. Or, just "find" the game **cough**, drop its folder into your DOSGames folder, and set it up by pointing DOSBox to it and running the needed files ("setup" or "install" is the usual file... I used the latter to tinker with KQ6's settings since it didn't have a "setup" file). If you have any questions, just ask, and I'll do my best to help if you run into any problems trying to install/run KQ7. But hopefully, if you go down my guide step by step, things'll work out fine for you.
  5. Alrighty.

I've got an idea coming together. It'll take some time, but I'm starting it as I type.

  6. Heh.

Well, I could come up with something. But if you have an idea for an animation, shoot me a PM and let me know what's floating around your brain. Otherwise, I'll have to let my mind wander for ideas... and I'm not sure that's such a safe idea ;)

  7. I may someday. But my setup hasn't been OCR quality since about the end of 2003, and I don't want to tie up a song that someone else could grab and run with for this project. So I'll just stick with keeping an eye on the project, and waiting for it to be released. Just be sure to do a good job. You don't want a mob of angry Sega fanboys after your collective heads
  8. I could. I'm guessing you had an idea in mind?

  9. It may or may not be considered chiptune, but the soundtrack to Panzer Dragoon Zwei is PCM. There are a number of other Saturn games that used this format for their music as well. As for this project, there is some great music in NiD. I thought about remixing a track from it once a long time ago (actually started it to), but never did get around to full-on making it. I got sidetracked by another remix, and NiGHTS fell by the wayside. Anyway, it seems like a rough time to start this, given how many projects are going on now. But hopefully it'll pick up enough remixers over time so it gets done (even if it's not on time). Best of luck guys. I'll be keeping an eye on this project.
  10. I started remixing back around the beginning of 2002. It was just me, Music Creator, and a free MP3 maker called CDex. The first song that I would call an actual remix (as opposed to just redoing the original song with "better" instruments), was Seiren's Destiny. I kept doing it up until around September of 2004, when I took a rather long hiatus from remixing, as I had begun to feel like I was wasting my time for various reasons. These days, I don't do too many remixes. When I do, it's still just me, the same copy of Music Creator, and that same free MP3 maker. The last two remixes I did were Mari-O-Round, (a remix of the merry-go-round song from Mario 64) and A Few More Miles To Go (a remix of the ending theme from Arcus Odyssey), both of which were done last year. Not sure how much growth the two periods show, but there it all is.
  11. A long time ago here, I said, "Something only becomes 'kiddie' when you think you're above playing it". That was regarding video games. Feeling that you're "too old" for something like Legos and their ilk isn't that different really, as it basically means you've decided it's something you're not allowed to have fun with anymore... that somewhere it says you can't.

I say, if you want Legos, then get Legos :D

  12. Nostalgia can be a powerful little thing when it strikes, can't it? Makes you do all sorts of odd things... like stand in the grocery store aisle with a grin on your face, while holding a reproduction of an 80s G.I. Joe figure that they happen to have for some strange reason (and actually consider buying it just for the hell of it).

But, regardless of made you swing by, it's nice to see (read?) you floating around these parts again. Welcome back :)

  13. Many thanks for the compliments :)

Haven't seen you around the site for a while. What brought you back after such a healthy hiatus?

  14. Oh joy, yet another person who thinks everyone's just bandwagoning, and not actually stating their honest opinion based on experience. *facepalm*
  15. I sat down and played Sonic 3D Blast a few weeks ago. Got a wild hair up my ass to do so, and blew through it. I've always enjoyed the 2D games on the Genesis the most, with Sonic 3 & Knuckles being my favorite, and the best in the franchise in my opinion. The GBA games are fun, but not as good the Genesis ones, and the 3D games have been more about fighting the camera than anything else. I'll admit that the first two "Adventure" games on the Dreamcast are alright, but there's just something missing from them (and every 3D game in the franchise)... a certain spark and simplicity that made the Genesis games what they were. Anyway, those are my thoughts on it.
  16. I was wondering how long it would take before this game got a project done for it. Best of luck folks.

  18. Question- Is there a time we should have our submissions in by? July 26th 11:59PM (EST)? July 26th at noon (PST)?
  19. Perhaps djp is about to alter this site so that it's no longer about game music, remixing, or music in general. Maybe he's changing it's central theme to sewing, making this thread no longer have any bearing on OCR or its main focus. I mean, that's all I can think of as to why a thread about music would be off topic here.
  20. DOSBox .73 doesn't come with a config file like it used to. You have to track it down now. However, it's very easy. Click on "Start", move your mouse to "All Programs", and find the listing for DOSBox .73. Roll your mouse over that listing, and when the new menu comes up, roll over to "Configuration". You'll see an option called "Edit Configuration". Click on that, and when the window pops up, select "File/Save As", and save the config file to your desktop. Then grab that file, and copy it to your DOSBox folder. Or, you can just edit it from that Start menu if you like. However you do it, just be sure you save the changes before you try and run DOSBox. I just downloaded the game, and tried it out. It ran fine, and I didn't experience your issue. Here are my config file settings. Setup you config file like this, and see if the game works for you. fullscreen=false fulldouble=false fullresolution=640x448 windowresolution=original output=surface autolock=true sensitivity=200 waitonerror=true priority=higher, normal mapperfile=mapper.txt usescancodes=true [dosbox] language= machine=svga_s3 captures=capture memsize=32 [render] frameskip=0 aspect=false scaler=normal2x [cpu] core=auto cputype=auto cycles=auto cycleup=500 cycledown=500 [mixer] nosound=false rate=22050 blocksize=2048 prebuffer=20 [midi] mpu401=intelligent mididevice=default midiconfig= [sblaster] sbtype=sb16 sbbase=220 irq=7 dma=1 hdma=5 sbmixer=true oplmode=auto oplemu=default oplrate=22050 [gus] gus=true gusrate=22050 gusbase=240 gusirq=5 gusdma=3 ultradir=C:\ULTRASND [speaker] pcspeaker=true pcrate=22050 tandy=auto tandyrate=22050 disney=true [joystick] joysticktype=auto timed=true autofire=false swap34=false buttonwrap=true [serial] serial1=dummy serial2=dummy serial3=disabled serial4=disabled [dos] xms=true ems=true umb=true keyboardlayout=auto [ipx] ipx=false [autoexec] loadfix -64 mount a a:\ -t floppy mount c c:\DOSGames -freesize 999 mount o f:\ -t cdrom mount n k:\ -t cdrom C: Keep in mind, my config file is setup with all my DOS games in their own folders within a folder called "DOSGames" right on drive C: (if you followed my guide, your stuff should be the same way). If you don't have yours set up that way, then be sure to not use anything after the "[autoexec]" line so that DOSBox doesn't look in the wrong spot for the games when it starts.
