  1. Make sure your card is fully seated in the slot, it's probably not that but it's the only thing I can think of.
  2. I don't know if size is important to you, but I prefer to be able to carry everything in my jeans pockets. This includes my keys, wallet, cell phone, iPod, and a handheld. PSP is way too fat for me to carry around all the time especially with the clunky set UMDs. The DS Lite isn't that small either, but those micro cards get the job done right for me.
  3. I'm down for doing "minor" character voices.
  4. Well right now I'm just using an extension cable to get the mic to the back and the audio is plugged in the front. Very ghetto I know. The other cheap alternative I have is to split the audio in the back and just plug the mic into the actual port.
  5. Oh I have a front panel with the headphone and mic jack already, I just need a card that has the plug for it to connect to. EDIT: I did some tinkering around and I found out I do have front panel support, although it sucks major balls. My current sound card makes adding analog devices a pain in the ass because of that whole detection crap. I can't just connect my mic and have it work. It needs to "detect" it first before it starts outputting sound at a reasonable volume. Because the front panel doesn't mimic that feature, I can't connect a mic to it, which defeats the purpose of even having the front panel hooked up in the first place.
  6. And man I just found out about the fricking Pip-Boy flashlight (after I finished the game). That would have been so useful to me before.
  7. If you need it for a quest, select the quest in your Pip-Boy and it'll show a marker where it is on the world map. If you're just exploring it's somewhere in the West area of the map. I don't quite remember the exact location.
  8. Word. I hate when you get to Lamplight Caverns and you can't blow the effing Mayor's head off. That god damn brat. If he was an adult I would have shot his head off immediately. Not that I didn't try.
  9. I trust Konami to make good games, no matter what system they're on. The PS1 is vastly inferior to its successors but does that make MGS1 any less of a good game? I know you probably meant that they could do better in terms of what's available, but my point is that they can work with touch screens and still make a good game. (and yay I have a touch to play these on!)
  10. I'm in the market for getting a new sound card. There's actually nothing wrong with my current sound (on-board chipset which works nicely) but I'd rather have a card I can hook up my front panel jacks to. I want something decent, nothing OMG HAX. I don't to spent much over $50, in fact I'd rather not spend $50 if I can help it. So any recommendations? EDIT: And what difference does the bit value for digital audio mean?
  11. Oh and that "Matrix Mode" bullshit they put on there means nothing. It hardly makes 2-channel audio into surround sound.
  12. I'm guessing you have the system I have now, or something a bit older/lower. I have Logitech X-540 5.1 speakers. I think you would do well getting some higher end 2.1s and getting a pair of them to make 4.2 speakers. Or you can get the 2.1s that have surround sound "built" into them. Those work pretty well by themselves and you don't need the 5 satellites and all that corded mess. These are mine: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/234&cl=us,en My friend did the 2.1 pairing deal and he has a couple of these: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/231&cl=us,en Look at the frequency ranges of the speakers systems you're looking at. Most of the time they have a high range of 20kHz which is pretty much well above whatever you're listening to. The low range is where they start charging more, but you said you didn't need that low. You're looking at lows of 33Hz-40Hz. These are nice to know but I doubt you (and most people) will be able to tell the difference from a couple of Hz. The systems also start using more wattage and the price increases because of that as well. Basically more watts = more boom in your bass.
  13. For my new 24" monitor I just use the box as well. But it gets to be a hassle because it's so damn big. If it wasn't so fricking tall it'd be perfect. But I also don't want to be paying $40+ for a case when I can just use a cardboard box with styrofoam.
  14. Well for starters, what system do you currently have that's breaking down?
  15. Just kill everyone equally. That's what I do.
  16. I was just thinking about this when I got my new iPod Touch. Good job on the blue one. I'm currently using the orange on black, but I think someone else did one like that too and I'm using theirs.
  17. I'll be getting that information as soon as I get home after finals. Most likely around the 13th.
  18. I also have an old Dell Dimension 2400 sitting around if you want that. It's got a 2.4ghz P4 processor. It has a FX 5200(pci) in it and a gig of ram. It has a sound card too but I have to pull that out of my other system (not being used in it). Give me an estimate or PM if you want more details.
  19. They did do AGP 5200s but either way that card is way too old to run Vista effectively. So basically you're due for an upgrade.
  20. Ah yes, I forgot that he was running two different cards.
  21. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of SLI? I thought SLI and Crossfire were to link two cards together?
  22. I do, but what I do inside the case makes it quite obvious that it's been tampered with, so heating the seal off doesn't do much. I do keep all the parts after I replace them so I could theoretically put the box back in its "original" condition to be sent off to MS.
