  1. Hello OCRemix. Long time lurker first time 'account maker and subsequent forum poster'. Here is my remix for youuuu <3 From the first time I played Links Awakening this particular track always stuck in my head and I would find myself humming it for hours after playing. So naturally to torment myself further, I decided to use my production powers for evil and give it a remix. Thought I should tag this under Work in progress so as to not rock the boat with only just signing up to the forums to post this here. I worry its a little too derivative overall but its definitely a transformative remix in comparison to the chip tune original : Happy for any kind of feedback and criticism, let me know what you think!
  2. What's up people. This is my take on a great theme from a great game. I'm hoping somebody else's ears can help me specifically with the mixing, mastering, and audio quality. Please let me know what you think. Any critique and feedback is greatly appreciated. I'm not submitting this here but I did it to learn the style of my favorite composers. Peace Source Remix
  3. A WIP of this remix, originally this was a jazz quartet version, but it was getting dated (and albeit not that good) Now, a jazz trio + hip hop elements, this melody is fantastic. Use of block chords in the beginning, followed by some close voiced chord movement by the second chorus. Going to work the arrangement into a solo section and then back to the head. 4. Hello there! Before I prepare to send in my "resubmit", I would like to seek some guidance from the folks here on the forums. I'll include a link to the judge's comments below this paragraph. The focus of the critique was the production side of things, as I had numerous issues with balance (EQ, volume, panning) that needed addressing. I'm happy to hear any ideas you all have about the composition itself and the instrument choices, but my main motivation for coming here is help with the production work - mixing, mastering, etc. Since reading their feedback, I've been hard at work reproducing my track to fix the issues they mentioned and a few of my own. I want to know what you guys think and if you have any other suggestions for improvement. Thanks for listening! 1. Here's a link to the current version of the track: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xb4td7ecvn93r6c/Rainbow Resort ReMix 2_22_2018.wav?dl=0 2. Here's the version of the track that the judges critiqued: EDIT: Link to the original source:
  5. Hello everyone, New here! This is my first cover that I put on YouTube about a month ago. I want to clarify I do not plan on submitting this, I just wanted to get some feedback so I can improve my future remixes. I will welcome all the feedback I can get! I will say that I am not happy about how my leads sound in this, and that is an area I am struggling in for other projects as well. In particular, I feel they sound very thin. Does anyone have any tips? I have tried several things, more reverb, less delay, less reverb, EQing.. I am running out of ideas. Anyways like I said any feedback is appreciated, I'll take what I can get. I hope you all enjoy!
  6. Hey everyone! Made a new remix. I know Schala's theme has been done a million times but I feel like this is a different take on it. Definitely 80s inspired... Not sure if it fully qualifies as synthwave/outrun. Mix is pretty much done, and I'd like to submit this, but thought it would be prudent to pay a visit here first and get some feedback I start that process. Please share your thoughts! 7. I've made many changes since my first posting:) Version submitted first https://drive.google.com/open?id=1nHURd09pcMxso4k32o9CuwqUvuTeNww- Latest version 11-7-2019, second submission https://drive.google.com/file/d/18Bv8PRVMqUlDu1CxRpIjNQtLMXxhfbq5/view?usp=sharing Latest Latest version 12-24-2019 This is pretty much completely different, it's something I have been working on under a different name for a short while. The original idea of this tune has gone through the grinder a couple of times, and it was gently suggested that perhaps a different tack might help. My VERY first attempt at Epic FootSteps actually incorporated both walkabout themes from Dragon Warrior 2, and this new version is the second walkabout theme, as opposed to the first. I also add that this is obviously not close to completion, I'm looking for some feedback;) I haven't fiddled with EQ/Mastering yet. I also ask that it be listened to with something that uses ASIO for playback. On my pc, for reasons I have not been able to fathom, playback done with any normal media player sounds MARKEDLY different, in EQ and stereo image/spectrum...and I have tried all solutions googled and asked about here on these forums:) This version is not done with LMMS, as the previous version, and I have installed a few different VST's Original Second Walkabout theme Latest version 12-24-2019 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TMV-pYLpCklO0ZdRx99wiVb8HdT5tAvS/view?usp=sharing
  8. I've been sitting on this one for a little over 2 years, but finally overhauled most of it December last year. So while I figure out how I want the next chunk of the song to actually go, I figured I would put this section out as it currently is. Might speed it up a little bit, might tweak the drums a bit, who knows.
  9. I recorded the flute part using a relatively basic mic, and then mixed it in Logic. I only added a little bit of reverb; what else could I do to make it sound better/more interesting next time? (I'm aware my tone deteriorates a little near the end, but this is a playing problem and not a recording/mixing one.) Many thanks in advance~
  10. Sega mega drive game Ranger X [Ex-Ranza in Japan], stage 5 remix. Game composer: Yoshinobu Hiraiwa Orginal track: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t8XYQN0om4
  11. I need a lyricist to write English or Latin lyrics for this part: here is the full WIP: https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/786731
  12. So last year I submitted this track to the tender mercies of The Judges and it was summarily rejected (sob, wail etc). I've finally decided to revisit the track and would appreciate any help and suggestions on how to improve it. Source:
  13. I realize that I posted a different track earlier, but I just finished this one today and I feel that it's probably a better suit for Overclocked Remix. I used themes from Lon Lon Ranch and Kakariko Village; this was partly inspired by the tavern in Link Between Worlds, where the musicians there would play themes from different area's/games. This idea for this piece is that you walk into a tavern playing the Lumpy Pumpkin Theme, but the players also mix in elements from other games as well. If this site has a rule against Soundscape elements (ie, tavern background, beginning and end), please let me know; it's too easy to remove it. Enjoy, and let me know if it has potential to be submitted here! Original: -Juke
  14. This is the new version of my orchestral remix of Guile's theme. I Started over completely from scratch and have taken the critique I received on the old version into account, but I still feel that it isn't quite "there" yet, somethings missing. I'd love some feedback on this, maybe you guys can point me in the right direction. [EDIT: link below has been updated, the old version is still available on soundcloud of anyone wants to listen and compare.]
  15. Greetings, i once opened a topic about a remix of Portal 2's "reconstructing more science" (http://www.thinkwithportals.com/music.php Volume 3) i was working on and was getting a lot of feedback regarding my remix. Now that i've been working on the remix for more than 1 1/2 years i finally came back here to get feedback for the current version, for i am planning to hand it in here at oc-remix and i want to ensure that the current version of the remix fulfills the requirements for oc-remix. The current (and hopefully final) version of the song: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1N7zxyPWdbsJnyZuOh5wGRksDGLgKEBEe I am thankful for every constructive feedback i get. - daWaschbaer (You can find the old post here if you want to browse through the older versions of the song and the feedback i got)
  16. Hiya everybody, hope you all had a good New Year! Posting my third upload here - It's a meditative Orchestral Arrangement of the Song of Healing from Legend of Zelda - Majora's Mask. The link to the Soundcloud page is below. Tried to make some changes to the sound in this piece, especially in the strings. Brass sounds a bit too artificially bright, but then that's NotePerformer. Will be putting it through a Sample Library when I get one connected to my Kontakt!
  17. Doggy Accessories This arrangement is about Chain Chomps and the women who love them. Let me know if I should adjust some things. Sources: Mario Odyssey - Cascade Kingdom Link's Awakening - Mabe Village
  18. I don't consider myself a musician, but I found myself trying a few things last year, based on a hunch. I wasn't really trying hard, but I've only managed to receive one or two pieces of feedback, in all of that time. Finding a forum feels quite difficult... but my latest bit of music is a game remix, and I know for sure that I can post here for feedback. For a while now I've had a hunch that the Eight Melodies could be played as a canon, and this is my attempt at it. I don't care what kind of feedback I get, as I simply need to know if what I'm doing is interesting. Though I'll point out that I have practically no experience in music and its software, so the mixing is probably bad. You are also free to skip the first 24 seconds of this song – that portion sounds deliberately bad, and is there to highlight how I've improved with Vocaloid. If someone thinks this is interesting enough to submit to OCReMix, I'll replace the intro. Otherwise, I don't really plan on submitting it at all. I think it mostly works. After the standard time-delayed canon, I removed the canon on a whim to reveal that it's still (mostly) in harmony. I then lead out with a proportional canon, and... I think it still works? 19. I'm always all over the place with tracks, and I had on attempt at remixing this song a while ago and it sucked. This already sounds miles better. ReMix: Ocarina of Time Title Source: You all know the source, it's iconic, it's been done a lot, it's cool, its chill; I dunno I had this idea so I guess it's cool.
  20. Hello, after posting my first remix here not long ago I tried to use your feedback and made a second one. I kept this in a more classical style. What do you think? 21. Here's a remix I began working on of Road Taken from Fire Emblem Fates. Currently only a short WIP: ReMix: Road Taken Trap Remix Source: Never really done trap before. Trying it out. The electric piano in the beginning is way too static for my liking right now so I will flourish that. Any feedback is appreciated; thanks for listening. EDIT: Also don't know how I feel about that lead panned to the left.
  22. I originally did this as a joke, but I kinda like how the arrangement went. This is mainly for a comedy sketch with a King Boo puppet I PLAN on building. Basically its just King Boo playing this song on the pipe organ, with a humorous ending. My samples are crap, I'm well aware. I'm looking for ARRANGEMENT feedback. What could I do to make this sound more like a classical/spooky organ piece for most of it? then the humorous ending shows up as a way to throw you off. I wanted it to remain somewhat true to the original and not arrange it TOO much. But I don't want a carbon copy either. as for quality I was thinking of collaborating with someone here who has better organ sounds/mixing skills. Let me know what you think ...PLAY BALL!
  23. So here is my first Remix, but I think ist not so bad Do you like it? How is the Instrumentation and mixing? Any Feedback is appreciated. Thanks and I hope you enjoy! The Original: https://youtu.be/VEIWhy-urqM
  24. Sup everybody. This is my first ever cover/remix of any sort. I'm not new to making music but I am new to video game music and remixing/covering. I'm not looking to submit this or anything as I think this one stays too close to home according to the rules. I'm doing remixes to find out how my favorite composers did it, to learn, and to get better. I'm concerned with the mixing but I can use any feedback OG [flash=] [/flash] [flash=] [/flash]
