Nice! I love how you use the EP in this one, particularly the tasteful use of flanging/phasing.

That flutey solo -- good stuff. You do some pitch bend dirtiness in there, and it sounds really cool and unique.

It's hard for me to make any comments beyond "I liked it", because I don't know a whole hell of a lot about jazz. But, well, I liked it!

Heh, this is somethin I certainly wasn't expecting. A porn groove from Pilowings 64, who'd've thought? Anyway, this is some all-around good stuff, I have to say. I love a good organ sound, and this mix delivers. E.P.'s are cool too, and those drums play their role in this style very well, layin in a big fat groove. I absolutely love 1:57-2:00, it just makes me smile. The clipping at the solo makes me really cringe, though. it's the one problem I have with this mix, but thankfully it doesn't last long. It's great to see variety on OCR.

Thanks for the comments, everyone- I've been an OCR listener for years, and I'm glad to finally be more of a part of it.

I think I stayed pretty true to the feeling of the game, but I wanted to enhance the impact by using better instruments and a slightly riskier arrangement. The original functions very well as video game music trditionally does- it's good enough to enhance the experience, but doesn't stand too much out or steal focus from the gameplay. This arrangement (hopefully) allows the music to get some of the attention it deserves.

A quick plug- on my site there's a remix (from Bionic Commando) that I submitted to OCR a while back that got voted down by a narrow margin. The judges points were well taken, but I'm pretty happy with the mix, and I hope you take the time to listen and share your feedback.

Great mix. Brings the funk and the soul and the feel of the orginal. Good instruments.

My biggest peeve was the echo. It was downright distracting at points, especially during that anonymous-woodwind solo. Speaking of that solo, the anonymity and articificiality of the instrument proved to be distracting to me as well. But as I listen to it, I just imagine it in my head as a really good jazz flute and it sounds perfect, 100% in-context too.

You know what this sounds like to me? This sounds like it would make as a great song for the credits of the N64 game called Space Station Silicon Valley. I say that in a good way. I love the jazzy feel, and the high-rolling notes really bring that game's flavor to this mix. The woodwind solo has been depreciated by others, but I don't listen to it as an instrument, I listen to it as music, and it sounds perfect. Aces to you.

One of my favorites. Pilotwings had some wonderful music. This piece has been remixed in a way to make it BETTER than the original, if not much different. I get visions of Ray Charles, bluesing it under a spotlight, singing in that rich voice of his. Every time I hear this piece I stop what I'm doing and groove with it.

For a piece that doesn't improvise any remixing, it sure is nice. I consider it a masterpiece here at the OCREMIX. Not every song has to blow my mind to blow my mind, if you get what I'm saying.

I think you did a really good job. It was true to form, but I still like the original feel of mellowness. This was a bit more upbeat and bluesy. The drums went on and off a bit, but other than that, true gold. I miss Pilotwings. Now you made me feel all nostalgic...

VERY smooth remix. Not very radical, instead it just do its own thing by letting the organ talk along with some drums and electric piano. Calm as the midnight itself, when everything goes to sleep except for the stars in the sky. And owls of course, but that's not the point.

Chill and groovy stuff from jcd, you can really feeeeel the love tonight.

Now THIS is cool. I don't know how it flew under the radar for so long (No pun intended), but this is one I wish I had picked up earlier. When I play this, nostalgia fills the air, and it becomes so thick one can cut it with a knife. Ironically, the first time I heard this, it was very late at night, so all the more fitting! Well done!
