Stargem
La-Mulana, Hurrican, Iji, The New Satan Sam, and Aquaria have excellent soundtracks, and are top-notch games as well. You can pick up the soundtracks through the following links, except for Aquaria since that is a commercial game without an officially released soundtrack. I hear one is planned, but since Derek Yu and the Aquaria developer has split up, it is in the air. All of the other games are freeware, so go ahead and play them if the fancy catches you. HengDe
Anyone ever play dinocity for snes? I always liked its music.
Bahamut
As far as Mega Man games go, I feel like MMX2 never gets love . Easily my favorite of them all.
Salluz
Some of it's good, others of it is bad. My opinion.
Shadix
I require Warcraft 2 remixes before someone tries to mix WoW stuff . As far as obscure game soundtracks go, I have a contribution: Dark Reign - Track 1 - Track 3 - Track 6 - Track 9 - Screw that the whole soundtrack is amazing, and it was an amazing RTS back in the day and even still today. I've always wanted to hear something done with the soundtrack to Chakan for the Genesis as well, but its so obscure I can't find a link to link you guys to any examples. Lastly, more PSO mixes would be hardcore.
The Coop
Here are some tunes from Gauntlet IV that could use more exposure... Here's a great song from Devilish... And here are a couple of songs I mentioned before that I found links to...
Archaon
Here's a great song from Devilish... I prefer the Game Gear version, personally. Too bad he only does the first six levels, because level 7 had the best BGM. Speaking of Game Gear, though, had some good tracks. So did Halley Wars, but sadly I can only find a Let's Play of that with some guy talking all over it. It may not exactly be obscure, but the can never be overstated enough.Terminator on the Sega CD. And the bonus stage from Cool Spot. Why not. The Coop
There aren't too many videos for this game but I found a few. Some really nicely done syth-orchestral music back when Core Design was actually a good game maker... Try finding Stellar Fire for the Sega CD. The game is so-so, but the music is fantastic. I really wish I could find more tracks from it, but here is one from Master of Monsters that I brought up earlier... A montage of about 2/3 of the songs (not all of them play completely through unfortunately)
Jodo Kast
I'm making a playlist on Youtube of not so known video game music. I have 15 right now.Updated this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqNMTvSSZfU&feature=PlayList&p=BB57DB322EB55970&index=0&playnext=1 Any comments are appreciated. I hope this list helps people look for songs that aren't remixed all the time. I listened to the NSN playlist and this one was my favorite: Madou Monogatari "14-Cave" I didn't recognize any of the music despite having heard more than 1,000 game soundtracks. Considering that there are probably more than 50,000 game soundtracks by now, one could never known the 'genre' entire. Here's one that qualifies as 'NSN': http://www.mediafire.com/?yijzzznztzm It's an arrange album from a Super Famicom game called 'Sword Maniac'. The Coop
Thought of another somewhat forgotten Genesis game with some rather nice tracks. You can find them on Youtube, but it sounds like they were recorded using an iffy emulator (missing instruments, iffy timing issues). So instead, I'll just list them... Vilecat
Totally agree on Troddlers and Sword of Vermillion. Glad to see I'm not alone in listening to original music files from games no one ever heard of. I have a good list of those but they're on my computer (in class atm). I'll post later. Imo Pokemon Trading Card Game has a few songs totally worth a listen Normal duel: Club Leader duel: Water/Rock/Psychic Club:

LuketheXjesse
Here's some from Power Rangers for the snes. Kick ass brawler with AWESOME music. Will probably make some metal remixes of them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyS4hk-jnh4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDiKzH0SpE0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHSDWsiikvk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzpHG2u-Wug http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE8_U0XPeHw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUIUjWpCCto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-Q4tCoypAU
Devyn
All of the SNES Power Rangers games kick ass. The music rules, especially Stage 1 of the first game. Battletoads and Double Dragon anybody? Well, I guess that's more under-rated than unknown (David Wise is on the front page), but I don't see it getting that many mentions. pokezel
Mickey's Racing Adventure has incredible music, but unfortunately I have never found mp3s or rips of the music from it. Personal favorites from it are: Donald's Theme Goofy's Theme Daisy's Race Theme Goofy's Race Theme Casey Jr. Puzzle Theme If you can manage to get a hold of the .gbc file, it's definitely worth it. Outworlder
Wow, there's some good stuff I've not heard in here. Here's a few that I'm pretty sure most have not heard. Silent Thunder (sadly, I could not find all the tracks): Dark Sun: Wake of the Ravager (only good thing I could find on youtube that has a good representation of the music was the intro movie): And of course, SNES's Shadowrun:
Azuth
Crystalis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1dneoKn9uo While not quite as obscure as some of the titles listed here, I still find myself humming some of these tunes almost 20 years later. Regal
Seriously. I know we might be sticking to lesser known games here but theres a GOLD track hiding in a mainstream game just aching for it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skNnp1bZ5i0 Castle Pandemonium. Final Fantasy II. (Oddly enough I've played every final fantasy except 2. found my old copy of Dawn of Souls and played it. Loved it.) SO epic. amazing that I never knew about this one. Oh and one more.. From when you fought the Lamia Queen. (And a few bosses after her.) Battle Theme A. Yet it's actually a Miniboss theme. OCR SERIOUSLY Doesnt have any FF2 stuff yet? I'm amazed. Hahah.
Dr.Flintlock
Three words: Brave Fencer Musashi. First game soundtrack I actually purchased because I liked the tracks so much. <Musashi Samurai Legend> <Giant Playground Battle> <Relic Keeper>God, songs like this bring back memories. lazygecko
Every now and then I weep over how the original Unreal ended up being so overshadowed by its Tournament counterpart, which degraded more and more into generic electronica with each installment. The original game and its expansion by far has the most interesting music. The Alexander Brandon interview says they had complete creative control over the music for that game, so no wonder it turned out so good.
