Lyrai Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 http://zepy.momotato.com/2009/11/18/new-lufia-game-details/ omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomg somewhere I have like, hand drawn charts and graphs and a ton of crap from the second one because I just played the crap out of it and then I bought the GBC one and my spirit was -crushed- and then they announce this Oh god could they actually be LEARNING? Seriously the GBC one was a huge stinky pile of poo and it was even WORSE compared to the second one which was incredible. Quote
Bahamut Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 People have mentioned this in #ocremix for the past two days - the only thing I'm a bit worried about is how will the action-RPG changeup work out for the game. Definitely stoked though, but that shouldn't be a surprise considering I'm running a Lufia project . Quote
The Mutericator Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 "It’s not just a remake, we’re rebuilding the story, the characters, and the world settings (Miyata Masahide)" This makes me think it'll be more like Lufia II: Alternate Rise of the Sinistrals than a simple remake of the original. A reimagining, if you will - like NSMB was to SMB. Quote
Cyril the Wolf Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I will not lie. This made me want to cry because I have not a DS to play it with Quote
Meteo Xavier Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Does it kind of bother anyone else that Square-Enix is doing it when they've never touched the Lufia series before? I don't think anything of it, it just really sticks out at me. Quote
Gario Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I didn't think that I would get another DS game until they remade FF6... This obviously proved that wrong. Quote
EdgeCrusher Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I don't see much use in remaking Lufia 2. Why not do 1 first? I loved the hell out of 1. Quote
Meteo Xavier Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I don't see much use in remaking Lufia 2. Why not do 1 first? I loved the hell out of 1. That would actually make a shitload more sense. If any of the games benefit from a redo, its definitely the first one. Quote
Jenz Drake Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Sorry - but I could careless about Lufia 1. That game sucked to me. I'M EXCITED FOR THIS!!! Totally gonna play the hell out of it! OH and I do want to mention too.. it DOES make sense to release part 2 first 'cos that game/story takes place BEFORE 1. Quote
EdgeCrusher Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 So we should watch star wars episode 1 - 3 first just cause they "happened before" episode 4-6? That's a retarded comment. Quote
Jenz Drake Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 You could if you wanted to.. You've never watched Star Wars 1-3 before 4-6? Now that's just retarded. Quote
Cecilff2 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 It'll be worth it if this becomes voice acted. But yeah this is awesome. I don't care which they do first, as long as we get both. Quote
Meteo Xavier Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Sorry - but I could careless about Lufia 1. That game sucked to me. All the more reason to try again! I loved Lufia I btw. So Quote
Necrotic Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 All the more reason to try again!I loved Lufia I btw. So I'm desperately trying to tell you why I hate Lufia 1 but I had to get through 10 random encounters just to finish this sentence. Quote
Brycepops Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I'm desperately trying to tell you why I hate Lufia 1 but I had to get through 10 random encounters just to finish this sentence. That's what sweet water is for... Quote
Arek the Absolute Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 nostalgic tears are coming i have a very big history with this game so this is really making me go omg omg i honestly cant say anything besides that seriously omg Quote
Meteo Xavier Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I'm desperately trying to tell you why I hate Lufia 1 but I had to get through 10 random encounters just to finish this sentence. And I'm trying to tell you thats exactly why we need to remake Lufia I instead of Lufia II. Quote
Ajax Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Well as long as the ridiculously, awesomely, head-smashing-against-wallsy, brilliant puzzles are there, then I will be happy. VERY happy. I am also happy to hear that the main staff from the original are back. ...seriously, some of the best puzzles of any game I have ever played. Quote
Arek the Absolute Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Whoever drew the new character art for Maxim needs to be shot. Why did they change him around to look like Squall : ( Quote
The Mutericator Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Whoever drew the new character art for Maxim needs to be shot. Why did they change him around to look like Squall : ( As I said when I posted it to my facebook, it looks like the character designer was going for Nomura and the environment designer was going for Tales of Symphonia. Also trailer with gameplay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq4B0_aa8uw via Kotaku. I have no idea how to imbed Youtube vids, sorry. I have to admit, it actually looks like a lot of fun, especially the new items. Still not sold on the character redesigns, but I can get over that. Quote
Gario Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I'm indifferent to the new design, there (It's Squaresoft - what'd you expect?), although I'll miss the good ol' 'just-out-of-the-shower' look that Maxim used to have... Just watched the video, and I'm pretty stoked, now. Great graphics, a new battle system (to replace the dated one from the series - it worked then, but I'm not so sure it would now), a revised soundtrack, a revised story (hopefully it will remove the 'Fix the Bridge' story mechanics and use more organic story devices), CG movies... Yeah, needless to say, this looks like it's going to be perfect. Gotta play it to find out, though - here's looking forward to the 2010 release! Quote
zircon Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I'm not sure if this can be called a "remake" at all - if it's a new story and completely new battle system, it's more of an "inspired by" than a port or remake. Still, looks exciting. Quote
