ncocs Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I cannot say anything bad about this at all, y'know, except the ending, but you already mentioned that. Sounds are great, and Link's scream is perfect. GREAT JOB! Quote
Sbeast Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 The Gorons approve. Really nice chiptune remix. Moar please. Quote
BLUamnEsiac Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Sounds like it's off to a good start to me. Personally, I love incomplete WIPs. With them, you get to hear the raw creativity that an artist works with. Quote
Rozovian Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Haha, awesome. Might have too much bass, but can't tell for sure (need to re-learn the response I'm getting from my setup). Quote
Chernabogue Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Really lovin' it! Keep at it, man! Quote
Lemonectric Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 Thanks, guys. I'll keep you updated. Haha, awesome. Might have too much bass, but can't tell for sure (need to re-learn the response I'm getting from my setup). It originally had more bass, until I thought "what would Rozovian say?" what can I say, I like bass :3 Quote
M249-M4A1 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 This is great! Arrangement, originality and creativity get 5 stars. Love what you did with Link's scream and the name! Maybe at the end of the song throw in the sound of a bowling pins getting knocked over + link's scream just for kicks. Quote
docevil000 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 This song for some reason makes me think a lot of Barrel Volcano Quote
Lemonectric Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 (edited) You know what I haven't done in a while? Worked on this WIP. Oops. Life of a Bowling Pin v2 If I don't finish this by November 3, my friend's birthday present will be a video of you all whipping me. Edited August 6, 2014 by Hylian Lemon Quote
Emunator Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Feels like a spiritual successor to Ben Brigg's Tal Tal Mountain remix. Love it Quote
crypto_magnum Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 This is great! Arrangement, originality and creativity get 5 stars. Love what you did with Link's scream and the name!Maybe at the end of the song throw in the sound of a bowling pins getting knocked over + link's scream just for kicks. Haha, I love it! Really fun remix. Glad you went with the Link scream and panting sfx over Wolf Link's "howling"... *cringe* Although I don't know, that might just crack me up too if you added a howling solo in the next section. Best use of sfx since PROTO-DOME's "Fill Me Up with Snacky Happiness," imo. You must finish this and submit it. Or we surely will whip you. Quote
Lemonectric Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 (edited) Life of a Bowling Pin v3 Welp, it's been two years. The sound effect I needed for the ending wasn't actually available when I started this remix. Edited August 6, 2014 by Hylian Lemon Quote
Lemonectric Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 I.........never submitted this. Time for a bit of a touchup to get it prepped for real. Not quite as dramatic of a change as the Sword of Sand update, since the last version here was just a couple years old. Life of a Bowling Pin v4 Let me know if I've overlooked something gross. Quote
Eino Keskitalo Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I approve of picking up the old tracks again! Love the tuned percussion. Veeery nice instrumentation overall, chippy leads with the rich percussion makes for a super fun sound. The lead levels seem a tiny bit uneven. 0:22-0:23, 0:25-0:27, 0:32. The swipe across the stereo field at 0:38, 0:52-0:53 & 0:56-0:58, 2:08 jump out of the mix as a touch loud. The higher notes of the leads at 1:27-1:42 (1:28-1:33 area) and 2:13-2:27 (2:18 onwards) too. Maybe try to soften the higher freqs on the EQ. I enjoyed this one very much & hadn't heard it before, glad I did! Quote

I enjoyed this one very much & hadn't heard it before, glad I did! Basically what he said. This is actually a really cool mix but the synths are slightly too loud. That, or you bring everything else up a bit. I feel like the tuned percussion could be a little bit louder. This is actually a super cool mix though. I really like this. Quote
timaeus222 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 (edited) Yeah, I agree with Eino with the loudness of the leads, and I would also check 2:44 - 2:56 (those are kind of slight, maybe by only 0.4~1.2dB). I would fix the lead volumes to more closely match the backing and only after that would I try raising everything at once. I think the overall volume, putting the leads aside for now, is about good. Elder Kirby Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Tasty remix! I have no real complaints, but the percussion does seem to be just a bit too quiet in relation to the leads. It might just be the leads being too loud, though. Great work. Quote
Lemonectric Posted January 1, 2015 Author Posted January 1, 2015 I always take forever to edit this one. Life of a Bowling Pin (updated 1-1-15) Previous version Brought down the lead volumes a bit in all the places y'all mentioned (I think), pulled down the ultrahigh frequencies on one lead. Let me know what's what. Quote
