Modus
I don't know if they exactly nailed 3D gaming. My brother and sister turn the 3D off because it irritates them. I enjoy it on, but only if the slider is on the very low end, otherwise I feel dizzy. Plus you have to keep the screen in exactly the right position. Now as far as game design in relation to 3D gaming.. yea, they nailed that. For whatever reason, the technical aspects have escaped Hollywood and the gaming industry for about 30 years now. By now it must be a running joke for engineers.
Mirby
We were talking about gaming in 3 dimensions, as in on an X Y and Z axis. You know, how Mario 64 kicked it off. Not as in the stereoscopic 3D of the 3DS.
Modus
I know the difference and yes, I misread. I thought he was talking about the OoT 3DS remake.
Garrett Williamson
SM64 doesn't even exist as a 3DS remake. And the 3D irritates me too, but it was quite an innovative idea and it works. But it hurts my eyes. 3D in that context hurts my eyes anyway.
DarkeSword
This is the WiiU thread. If you want to complain about stereoscopic 3D, find the 3DS thread.
Modus
Well they were talking about the Gamepad supporting stereoscopic 3D, but I haven't seen any games that support it yet. Of course it's not glasses-free but regardless, I'd like to complain about it.
Crowbar Man
GamePad doesn't have 3D screen period (glasses or glasses-free), it would have to use the yee old Blue/Red anaglyph style. I think this option is was rumored to be in AssCreed 3 and CODBLOPS2 for the Wii U (not sure if it made it into the product) but..anybody really want to use it? Now, possible if you had a 3D TV, Wii U could support it, but I am unaware of any games that do. I don't think anybody is hurting from this being "missing" though Edited July 30, 2013 by Crowbar Man
Modus
Yeah I don't really care about 3D Wii U, noone does. And with the low-ish resolution of the Gamepad it probably wouldn't be worth it. Well I'd really like to talk about Pikmin instead, but I'm a dirty American and must wait a few more days. It will be glorious.
ocre
The reason Nintendo didn't include glasses-free stereoscopic 3D in the Wii U GamePad is the same reason the bottom screen of the 3DS doesn't include it: the Touch Screen gets smudges from being touched, and smudges run counter to the glasses-free 3D tech. Or so they have said.
Brushfire
That and that 3D leads to headaches and actually makes some games look worse in my opinion.

Just finished it. Owning a WiiU and not owning Pikmin3 should be punishable by only having Brushfire's posts to read for all eternity. Seriously awesome game! Brithor
Oh my. Someone's a tad sensitive. Going back to Pikmin3, it amazes me how a game as brilliant as this will sell around 23 copies while the next CoD clone will sell a million times more
Brushfire
By the logic of current day gamers, it should sell a great big bunch of games, seeing as many reviewers are calling it the same thing as the previous two iterations. Not a bad thing mind you, but still a thing that a lot of people complain about when complaining about Nintendo.
Brandon Strader
Not understanding Call of Duty to such a degree should be embarrassing for people who make "those kind of statements", but for whatever reason it isn't. My only advice is to have been born sometime near the late 80s, maybe even early 90s. Have a dad who is into war movies (Audie Murphy To Hell and Back, Gettysburg, The Blue and the Grey, Gods and Generals, surely many more that I can't think of off the top of my head like these ones) The biggest difference between these movies is whether they're in black and white or color. War never changes -- but times change, and technologies change. If you are expecting "Call of Duty Unicorn Safari" then you can keep hoping, but it's never going to happen. Brandon Strader
Basically pointing out that when people say "CoD is just releasing the same thing" it's sheer ignorance. It's a gross misrepresentation of the game content as well. It's VERY far from what Nintendo is doing, which is releasing new versions of "New Super Mario Bros Wii" every year with an extra letter added to the title. Mirby
"every year" New Super Mario Bros. (DS) - 2006 New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii) - 2009 New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) - 2012 New Super Mario Bros. U (Wii U) - 2012 funny, for a sub-series that started seven years ago, there sure don't seem to be all that many releases. and only one per system too, how 'bout that. Argle
Those evil bastards, taking a yearly series and only releasing it every few years.
Mirby
Those evil bastards, taking a yearly series and only releasing it every few years. and not even following the naming scheme of adding an extra letter to each title! how dare they! Devyn
Pikmin 3 is out for download in North America today. Man the Wii U can spit out some graphics. Just watching the video makes me think about how awesome Nintendo's other first party titles are going to look when they come out. Also, Cloudberry Kingdom is on e-shop. I might try that one. Looks punishing.
ocre
Er, it is? I thought it was going up on eShop on the 4th at midnight (August 3rd if you preordered the digital version at GameStop). Edited August 1, 2013 by ocre
