Alan Stock Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Undoubtedly the best games composer of all time! His music contributed so much to the atmosphere and emotion of Final Fantasy VII and VIII which are still up there as the best RPGs ever. We should also give credit to the fact that he produced such good tunes using the simple chips of the NES/SNES era, though it's great to hear them getting a full orchestral treatment due to their popularity. It's testament to how good his tunes are that hundreds of hours later, you'll still hum along to the classics whilst you play!

Since then, I've come to enjoy the work of many other composers, but his work will always stand out as being the first I saw as a video game -soundtrack-, and not merely something playing in the background of a video game.

I am a visual artist and not a musician; nevertheless, Nobuo Uematsu's music has been a significant influence in what I do.

OasisDK Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 The score for Final Fantasy 7 still moves me to this day, his arrangements really touch my soul. And the fact that he is cool enough to make heavy metal arrangements of his compositions just makes him that much more awesome!
RDX Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 His PS1 Final Fantasy scores pretty much define my childhood. I always tear up every time I hear the world map song from FF7. It's really bizarre to believe that once upon a time the only thing that mattered in my world was his music. I didn't even really know of any other musicians until I was like, 8 or 10. So if I ever met Uematsu I'd probably cream my pants.
