Alan Stock Posted June 20, 2011 Share Posted June 20, 2011 Undoubtedly the best games composer of all time! His music contributed so much to the atmosphere and emotion of Final Fantasy VII and VIII which are still up there as the best RPGs ever. We should also give credit to the fact that he produced such good tunes using the simple chips of the NES/SNES era, though it's great to hear them getting a full orchestral treatment due to their popularity. Since then, I've come to enjoy the work of many other composers, but his work will always stand out as being the first I saw as a video game -soundtrack-, and not merely something playing in the background of a video game. RDX Posted June 20, 2011 Share Posted June 20, 2011 His PS1 Final Fantasy scores pretty much define my childhood. I always tear up every time I hear the world map song from FF7. It's really bizarre to believe that once upon a time the only thing that mattered in my world was his music. I didn't even really know of any other musicians until I was like, 8 or 10.
