Sindra
I still think there should be no singing in any Sonic games. What's wrong with just classic melodies sans lyrics?
RDX
thanks, im kind of in love with the soundtrack so far. if music means anything (it doesn't), this game is going to be pretty sweet.
AkumajoBelmont
I still think there should be no singing in any Sonic games. What's wrong with just classic melodies sans lyrics? Well, it's been with Sonic since pretty much the beginning. Sonic games have had vocals tracks since Sonic CD, so it's par for the course:D I'm loving that version of City Escape with the ode to Endless Mine. I absolutely love it. AkumajoBelmont
those weren't level tracks though iirc Still, I don't think it's ever felt out of place. Plus, City Escape... c'mon it's a classic
José the Bronx Rican
those weren't level tracks though iirc Sure there were, in both versions. A little rap here, a little scat there, but definite vocals.

Crowbar Man
Well its better than the terrible Sonic 4 soundtrack, but its just some very lazy remixes really so far. The Modern Green Hill Zone "WAH wah WAH" sound for the main instrument is bizarre. And is that really Autotuned City Escape? Geez Passable I suppose, and that's sadly a huge improvement for Sega's quality as of late.
BLUamnEsiac
I still think there should be no singing in any Sonic games. What's wrong with just classic melodies sans lyrics? I feel the same way about that. Adding vocals to a Sonic game is disruptive to the experience.

AkumajoBelmont
And is that really Autotuned City Escape? Geez It's been manual tuned so that the Endless Mine reference could be thrown in there.
RECKENEFIN
Honestly, I think the autotune part shows the thought they're putting into it. They're doing their homework, finding the one obscure (read: I wouldn't have noticed it unless someone pointed it out) track that actually sounds like it was meant to go with the song. Mix that with a nod to pop culture by autotuning something that was never meant to go to that tune. I'm ok with the music being remixes, because it's supposed to be a nostalgia trip. ... I wonder what "His World (Classic Version)" would sound like. Better question: will SEGA even touch that minefield?

RECKENEFIN
Auto-tuning isn't a nod to pop culture, it's just an effect. True and noted, but as an effect, it would be used to tweak the vocals that are off. I was just thinking aabout the influx of things that are uber tuned lately (autotune the news, T-Pain, ... Bieber). In that regard, since "Escape from the City" was never meant to be sung to "Endless Mine", I would think that could classify as a nod. But, you're right, it is just an effect. psychowolf
Im staying away from this thread and most of anything Sonic generations related. Just so i can just experience the game as spoiler free as possible. What i will say is apparently if you attended Summer of Sonic this year and shouted happy birthday to the hedgehog then apparently you'l be appearing in the game. Glad i went this year after all then. :

PROTO·DOME
True and noted, but as an effect, it would be used to tweak the vocals that are off.Nah, remember auto-tuning is a little different to manually altering pitches and changing vocal intonations for stylistic effect. If you wanna correct pitch you try to do it as subtly as possible; in that City Escape track, they've blantantly and flamboyantly used "auto-tune" software as an audio effect, nothing more, nothing less. It sounds cool, so they did it.Also, what the hell is official about this thread?
