KyleJCrb
According to the leaked roster, Mega Man didn't make the cut for Ultimate MvC3 despite being the highest-voted character on a fan poll: http://protodudesrockmancorner.blogspot.com/2011/07/why-mega-man-isnt-in-ultimate-marvel-vs.html
EC2151
Man, Inafune must have hurt Nippon Capcom's Japanly Honor so much that they want no more to do with gaijin Mega Man.
Toadofsky
[tangent]That reminds me, the other day they copyrighted a whole long list of Wii U things, including Wii Fit U, Wii Sports U, etc. Now I know as well as anyone else that copyrighting something doesn't mean it currently exists or ever will (they just don't want someone using the name, kind of like how Activision screwed up and never registered the domain name modernwarfare3.com and whoever beat them to it linked to Battlefield 3's website). Still, this suggests intent to continue pursuing the blue ocean strategy with their next console, just as calling it the "Wii U" indicates the same.[/tangent] I honestly just don't think that Nintendo is going through with the blue ocean strategy. I think it's funny thought that they're trying to court 3rd party companies to their next console when they never want to have anything to do with them. At least after the third year their console is out.

At least after the third year their console is out. one theory I've heard on this is that because of the longer development cycles for HD games, they need the help more now that they're making a powerful console. either way everything about the U is inconsistent, they also want to convince long time gamers that this system is for them when they're allowing the wii to die in such a disgraceful way. at least being from north america it's very difficult to buy into what they're selling here. XZero
Is it just me or do I notice a "Y'know what? F*$# Inafune, for leaving us we are gonna kill his games." from Capcom?Just give the bloody IP of Megaman away to him. I'm not sure it's that strong of an anti-Inafune sentiment (and while they'd never give it away, I completely agree that it should be sold to him), but I think he was the proverbial glue holding these Mega Man projects together. It's fairly common knowledge that he's wanted Legends 3 made for a while and Capcom didn't want to do it. Universe came out of nowhere and ended up in the same place it started--nowhere. I think Inafune's influence at Capcom was stronger than most other creative directors at game companies (aside from Miyamoto, of course). There was probably more willingness to let him get away with projects, for lack of a better phrasing. Without him, projects that the higher-ups don't think will generate as much revenue as others are more readily swept aside. I genuinely get the sense that even after Legends 3 was give the green light at Capcom, there were a lot of forces at work to stop the game's progress. Inafune leaving surely had no direct impact, but I have no doubt that his departure was as direct an indirect cause as anything could be. When the project lost the shield deflecting its dissenters, it was wide open to attack.
Gollgagh
makes me wonder what it would take for the Mega Man IP to actually get transferred

I'm sure there will be people trying to grill them for all the crap that's been going on lately, but that depends if they kick out anybody or keep them out of the panel. And to be honest, I think the fans should. I'm not in grief over them cancelling Legends 3 by any means, but some of this stuff they deserve, especially since so many proclaimed MvC 3 is unbalanced, and releasing a new Ultra copy to "fix it". Same thing with the DLC nonsense. Back during the Gamecube days, I really enjoyed Capcom, before all this stuff, mostly during all this DLC crap, I don't really care for their games anymore. KyleJCrb
Well, the existence of Ultimate MvC3 has been justified in that the Japan earthquake several months ago threw off their development schedule. They originally intended the additional characters to be DLC for the original game, but since that didn't happen, they instead decided to bundle them all together and refine the mechanics and balance and release it all together as a new edition. It's not that great of a justification, and it sucks for early adopters of the original, but that's the excuse Capcom is sticking with. Still doesn't explain the lack of Mega Man, though. Jamphibious
edit: that c&d was sent out in february dont think its related Yeah if it was sent that long ago I'm sure its fine now. Also I couldn't see them coming after OCR ever. Its simply non-profit fan arrangements/remixes. No harm in that, and as far as I'm aware that doesn't violate any copyright laws.
KyleJCrb
Capcom legally gave OCR the rights to arrange the music from their games when they did the Street Fighter 2 HD ReMix soundtrack. We're safe. Sounds like another bullshit C&D sent out by a law firm that was too hasty and not knowledgeable about the material (if it's even a real C&D which I'm weary of given the vague language and mispellings.) It makes no sense for Capcom to attack The Protomen, especially since they create original songs based on the world of Mega Man, not remixes of songs from the games. EDIT: It's fake. http://twitter.com/#!/Protomen/status/94575844370034688

I'm surprised Unity actually Liked the 100,000 Strong for Bringing Back MML3 effort. That's pretty awesome. I recommend checking it out to anyone interested in getting MML3 back in development. I'm totally for what the fans are trying to do. I really liked MML back in the day, and it's sad more charming games don't release nowadays. It looks like they're up to almost 35k likes already, which is great. There's a rumor going around that if the Unity Devroom can reach 25,000 servbots, Capcom might reconsider the project. I think it's worth a shot, so I'm all in for it.

StarZander
I, like a lot of other people apparently, also bought my 3DS because I knew MML3 was coming. It's what made me decide to get one in the first place. This makes me wonder how many of all the (pretty few) sold 3DS' were sold because of MML3? I'm guessing the biggest selling point so far has been Ocarina of Time 3D, but still... Could be a more significant part than we realise. But maybe I'm just dreaming here. Anyways... I'm also signed up as a servbot (it's nearing 12000 now) and I hope more people will as well. If you haven't, do it NAOW!
