Effector
Been pecking at it for the past few days. 116 stars with Mario. Having just finished the purple coin and daredevil comets for the Melty Molten Galaxy (or whatever it's called), I set the remote down, and the droplets of sweat were visible on it. Those daredevil runs are stressful. Also, bump. This thread deserves it.

Nabeel Ansari
Now to work on 120 stars. *cough* 242. 120 with mario. the whole thing over again with Luigi. then the final two stars after you get 240 appear in Mushroom Kingdom in the alternate galaxy. The Damned
Did you seriously just bring back a two year old thread for a picture?
Thalzon
I was sure some bot had bumped it. Oh well, let's talk about Super Mario Galaxy 2 instead! It has Yoshi.
Devyn
You're damn right it does! My girlfriend has a Yoshi muscle shirt. She bought it herself, and came home wearing it out of nowhere and I wanted to marry her right there. Sorry, that really doesn't have anything to do with the game. But the original is a good game. I'm hoping that it the sequel will differentiate itself enough to stand on its own. Nintendo's been spitting out a lot of Mario games, but I don't know how to quit buying them. Triad Orion
It's hard to quit buying them considering many of them are at the very least, solid.
Devyn
I concur, even the worser ones are at least good. I was kinda disappointed with Mario Kart Wii though, even though I still play the damn thing every other week. Anyway, is it just me, or does anyone else hate the bee suit?
Thalzon
The Bee Suit was alright, IMO. I would've liked the fire flower and ice flower powers to be a little more permanent, though. Also, the flight power needs to be used for more than one star this time. Boo Mario was pretty funny, but it didn't see a whole lot of use, either. I hope it gets improved. I'm also personally hoping for a few more sandbox-styled areas like Mario 64 had. Galaxy's levels were great fun but the game didn't offer a whole lot on exploration. Of course, if "exploration" means blue coins, well.... forget it then.

The Egg Galaxy or whatever (the first one) was the kind you're talking about, right?
Thalzon
Good Egg Galaxy has some openness, but it's not on the same level as Mario 64 had. For that matter, Peach's Castle just had more SECRETS. Secret areas, secret stars, etc. Galaxy doesn't have much of that. Every single star is easy to find because nothing is truly hidden. You either just click and select a galaxy or feed a luma. There's nothing to squirrel out in the observatory.
Ajax
I'm also a bit sad that the openness of Mario 64 never made it to galaxy, I kind of liked it where they would give you a little hint about the star's location and then send you off to play. I was also somewhat annoyed at how levels in Galaxy would differ from star to star, where I felt like they were constantly roping off bits and pieces of levels to make them more linear. Minor gripes, I still really loved Mario Galaxy, I just hope they bring some of that back in Galaxy 2.

Meteo Xavier
i couldnt have been the only one that really hated galaxy You should be. That game was a great twist on the Super Mario 64 structure, which no one will admit they've absorbed to death. Yeah, I would've liked some things to be more "open" like Super Mario 64 too, but, hell, that's what Super Mario 64 is for.

Vivi22
i couldnt have been the only one that really hated galaxy I utterly despised it, largely for the reasons Ajax said, as well as the piss poor motion controls and Mario suits. I've seriously never been more board than I was when you had to use the Bee suit.

Nekofrog
I have found that most of the haters of SMG didn't play well past the first couple of galaxies. Yeah, they're boring and pbad. But after that the game opens up to a world of tremendously awesome platforming the likes of which hadn't been seen since Mario 64. Sunshine was shit. atmuh
i got 60 stars if i remember correctly which im pretty sure was a decent ways through the game and sunshine was great
JH Sounds
Sunshine was shit. One could almost argue that the bonus platforming stages in Sunshine paved the way for Galaxy. I certainly found those stages to be more entertaining than the full-on worlds in Sunshine.
Linkjing Donuts
just completed Luigi after a long hiatus on the game with 242 total stars. Can't wait for the next.
Nekofrog
Sunshine was just terrible. Hey guys let's make a game that's all entirely set in one local with no break from it. I'm so sure that tropical area #34 won't get boring right guys.
