DrumUltimA Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 EDIT: thanks will for remastering this!! http://www.rogetmusic.com/temp/drumultima_remaster.mp3 ----------------------- UPDATE!!! 12/12/07 So I think I've basically finished it. I guess I'll submit it, but I want to see what you guys think first. Because I did this for a computer music project, I can't imagine that I would have much time to work on it while up here before break (especially considering that I have my third project due soon!) But please, lemme know what ya'll think. I'm calling it "Dances of Wind, Sky, and Earth". Pretty lame, but it goes with the marimba piece "Dances of Earth and Fire", so whatev ;D http://drumultima.googlepages.com/dances.mp3 ------------------- So I'm doing this for my computer music class. It's supposed to be a music con crete project, but I'm basically undermining that assignment by doing this (I'm working with audio so whatever). It's ALL PERCUSSION! here's a very rough wip of what i've got so far. Sorry about the clipping and stuff, I'm still figuring out this software. http://drumultima.googlepages.com/rhythmwip.mp3 enjoy! --------------------- Quote
Hausdog Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 So far it sounds good. The instruments sound very much like the real thing and the composition is nice. I'm not too familiar with drum music but what I see here is excellent. Quote

Hausdog Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Oh... It never occurred to me that someone would use software to work with a live recording..... I was just thinking you were one HELL of a production expert. Quote
cawnil Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 i feel like i'm dancing naked around a bonfire on shrooms Quote
Rozovian Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 All percussion... I like that idea, and the source even calls for it. Link to a MIDI version or archive is always good to provide, for comparison. Of course, vgmusic link don't work by clicking on them, so: http://vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/Rowasae.mid Correct me if I'm wrong. Feels like the tambourine should be EQed up a little in the high range, and the overall volume down, as there's some clashing when it plays more intensely. Try adding a multipressor to the output, try out some presets. It's hard to give constructive criticism on an all percussion piece, so that's all I've got. Well, I could add that I like it. Quote
Sinewav Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 AWESOME. I've been hoping for a long time that someone would do a drum-only remix of this song. As OCR's resident percussionist you're just the guy for the job too. I can't give much advice, since this is way out of my area of expertise, but it sounds great! Keep up the good work. Quote
Escariot Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 The only thing I hear is a line of 4-5 tuned bass drums, 2 quints, and 3 snares, along with a good mallet line. Seriously... I hear an amazing Indoor Drumline show written around this. Maybe not quite so long with the intro in the actual show, but yeah. Good stuff. Quote
DragonAvenger Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 It kinda takes a while to really get established, but when it does it's pretty sweet. Nice work man. Quote
Geoffrey Taucer Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 i feel like i'm dancing naked around a bonfire on shrooms Yeah, pretty much. This is brilliant. Arrangement, production, and especially concept are absolutely brilliant. Quote
Dhsu Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Haha, definitely not musique concrete. Nice mix though. Quote
DrumUltimA Posted December 11, 2007 Author Posted December 11, 2007 Haha, definitely not musique concrete.Nice mix though. shhhhh i'm hoping if i turn it in with like, sound clips of people talking and like waterfalls in the background, i'll get a decent grade Quote

metaphist Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Damn, this sounds organic to the max! Really impressed...and then holy shit, the drum solo's at 1:50-ish come in, and I'm like wtf again! I agree whole heartedly with Taucer on this one, amazing! I could go on, but... Submit the crap outta this Quote
DrumUltimA Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 thank you Will Roget the Third aka BUSTATUNEZ for remastering this! http://www.rogetmusic.com/temp/drumultima_remaster.mp3 Quote

Tensei Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 wow this is definately getting posted, if not then the judges are just being turds. Judging by what I heard in #ocrwip, it's actually quite debatable whether the source is eligible at all, since it contains no melodic instruments whatsoever. =| Either way, It's an amazing mix. Quote
