Gecko and Nutritious summed up why we explicitly don't classify by genre. It limits listenership and it's also hard to do in the first place. You can make a separate thread if you're looking for some suggestions by a specific genre, which will at least be more of a discussion (and will also eventually go away LISTEN TO ANY OC REMIX. DON'T END UP AVOIDING SOMETHING YOU'LL LIKE BECAUSE YOU WERE TOO SCARED OR STUBBORN TO LISTEN TO IT. Form an opinion based on what the track sounds like, not on what you THINK it would sound like. Use the Ormgas.com official OCR radio webstream to sample different mixes with 0 effort from yourself.

Nice "Nice work!" by Polo. Haunting in its Photoshoppery. Dave blackmailed me into responding to his birthday party eVite, by holding an arrangement CD of mine hostage. For this, there will always be antimosity between us. May you grow even OLDER day by day, David Lloyd!

The trio Pastiche did the vocals for Sonic CD (US).

Is anyone knowledgeable on why the Rise of the Star and Blood on the Asphalt torrents aren't transferring data depsite the seeders and leechers involved? These need to be fixed/reset/whatever, as the download completed # for both hasn't moved for months, and it's obvious people are trying to obtain the files.

Ever see anyone besides you sportin some OCR apparel?

That's how you popularize the shirt. In my case, I've had one guy recognize the shirt a few months ago when I worked at Borders. (I can reed!) The bro's name was Omar and he was in town for his brother's graduation. He knew a lot more than the average fan, especially for a lurker. DarkeSword was his favorite ReMixer, and he even knew Shariq's name and pronounced it correctly. Say what?!? He was also in disbelief when I told him djp lived in Northen Virginia, since that meant he was close by. But yeah, he was definitely very cool and I gave him the inside track on what mixes were coming up. Two days later, I got my paralegal job, and I definitely can't complain. ($) I walk past a GameStop every day going to and from the Metro, but I've never gone in. Something about not being a gamer. But one day I'll drop by with the shirt and spread the gospel. I've never seen anyone else besides me fly the colors outside the obvious contexts of conventions/meetups/etc. -
In focus smashing the guitar, or it didn't happen.

Free judgy feedback for any contest entrant if you PM me before the entry deadline. To be conservative with my time, don't hit me with any WIPs. Give me what you intend to be the finished product. -
bustatunez has some good news he can finally reveal. You can congratulate him here. Otakon thoughts will be later this week! Thanks for reading and commenting.

*NO* Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 'Book of the Dead'
Liontamer replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
djp expressed concerns on the level of arrangement as well early last week. He recommended waiting for Villianelle to be able to provide a more detailed description of the connections. Since Leah is ok with delaying a final judgement until she can get back to us with specifics rather than her own memory (because she hasn't touched the song for months), djp will hold off until she can clarify with a direct listen and timestamps. In the meantime, I'll definitely look back on this as well when I have more time, based on Leah's previous notes. If any other NOs that hinged any of their opinion on arrangement could chime in, that would be great. -
Ooooooh, another meetup. Yeah, looking forward to pics.

It's gotta be well-made though. Whatever wins, I'd have a lot of comments for it for improvement if it needed it. But yes, whoever wins, if it's good enough, I'd love to have ya on board. Collab if you have to. PUT THE ELBOW GREASE INTO IT. -
O U THOUGHT MAYBE WE SOLD OUT, DID J00!?!? Original stuffs. zircon provided Antigravity and SGX provided Better Than Sliced Beats and Chroma. And it's good to know that the people that picked them will more than likely enjoy them, rather than be disappointed. But don't take my word for it. [/Reading Rainbow] EDIT: BAH. I can't believe I got jacked by this cracka chica.

Contact: DJStrawberryBanana Real Name: Sam Strane SamStrane@yahoo.com userID:20057 Remix: Ninja Gaiden (NES) Act 5 Stage 3 I've been very hesitant to submit this remix. Thanks for taking the time to listen. I like the end, and not just cuz' it's over! -Sam ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.zophar.net/nsf/ninja_ga.zip - Track 18 Cool guitar work, but the rest of the elements were really lacking. The percussion had no meat on it, and the writing for it was relatively simplistic, leaving the background sounding thin and empty. The piano and organ sequencing was really mechanical, and the organ in particular was flimsy. There's not an organ in the world that would sound the way it did here. I liked some of the guitar work. Unpolished, but showed some beginner's potential. The piano and beats were both very repetitive, leaving the arrangement feeling stale after a couple of minutes and dragging things down. The arrangement as a whole needed more substance beyond noodling with the guitar. Not awful, but nothing beyond work-in-progress level so far. Use the ReMixing and Works forums to learn more about your programs and get fan feedback in the future. NO

Hooray! -
Awesome panel! Loved every minute, the crowd was really great, and the meet-and-greet afterwards, while busy with filling shirt and CD purchases, was still very excellent. Thanks to everyone who came out to see the panel, who participated in the activities and everyone I talked to personally. I was so glad to meet MIDIman, DJ Carbunk1e/Xaleph, Dale North, and injury for the first time, and hopefully we'll all be hanging out later this weekend!

MEETUP: OCR @ Otakon 2007! - Panel was awesome!

You ruined my plan for CASH MONEY, GIRL! I CAST MAGIC MISSILE! -
The sound was also generic. I've heard that exact drum sound way too many times, so when it doesn't fit right, I notice. I couldn't articulate what felt off about the drum tone before, but Jon's right about the drums. He also had good points about the guitar sequencing. Listen to Ryo Lion's "Dignity Ark" and try to figure out why something like that sounds a lot better. It's obviosuly sequenced, and sounds mechanical, but the sequencing is more nuanced to deliver a relatively smoother sound that doesn't sound so robotic. Damn, I missed the HATE! Haven't had any in a while. Don't look at me taking awhile to judge it. I voted QUICKZ.

MEETUP: OCR @ Otakon 2007! - Panel was awesome!

If anyone I know pre-reg'ed and would like me to pick up their ticket/badge tonight, let me know. (If you did not already pre-reg this does NOT apply to you.) Knowing the long lines on Friday morning, this could mean the difference between you getting inside in time for the OCR panel, or being stuck outside. I have to know you, and you've gotta be awake at the crack of dawn to be at the Convention Center tomorrow morning. I've gotta be helping set up the 10AM panel, so I don't have time to waste outside all day looking for you. You need to be on point. Let me know if you'd like this done for you, and PRIVATE MESSAGE me your contact info AND "member ID" number. They send the ID number in your confirmation email. It's NOT the submission number. I need your full name and phone # as well so that I can pick up your badge and call you afterward. EDIT: After 3PM today, it is too late for you to notify me. The website states that people picking up pre-reg badges should bring the member ID number and a photo ID to "speed up the process." What does this mean? There's no guarantee I'll be able to get it for you. Please don't COUNT on it and have a plan B. PLAN TO ARRIVE EARLY just in case. The lines officially open at 8:30AM at the con but I'm sure they will form even earlier. You'll be notified whether or not I was successful by 10pm EST tonight. -
When I say "Damn," I think it's obvious to infer that this is the most awful submission in the history of submissions that has ever been submitted by a submitter or group of submitters submitting their submission to the submissions process.

OCR01603 - *YES* Pokémon Red Version 'TEEM.ROKIT'
Liontamer replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
Hahahaha! This source again. Man. Aight, let's go. http://www.zophar.net/gbs/pokemonb.zip - Track 36 You gotta get some new sounds for this genre or at least get more experimental. It'd be an oversimplification to say REAKTR.1 sounds the same as 'TEEM.ROKIT' sounds the same as 'Confronto Finale', but you're pulling a lot of instrumentation ideas out of the same bag of tricks. Work harder to vary your sounds up with new effects and production techniques. What the hell was that from 2:44-2:51? The reversing didn't work that well to me, but ah well. The EQing's still geared too much to the low end, but, unlike your others subs, it's not impactful or largely noticeable. It's great to hear someone really overhaul such a rough-sounding source that honestly didn't seem to have much going for it. Nothing wrong with the arrangement. It's groovin'. It's interpretive. I'm down. YES
