  3. I would love to see Hybrid Heaven's Battle Theme (Fight!) and Boss Theme (Fight Hard!) to be remixed, simply because there is no remixes or remakes of Hybrid Heaven anywhere on Youtube that i can find. Literally. This game is one of those forgotten gems that were created on the N64, when it was at the end of its shelf life. If i had to choose one of the two, i would definitely go with the Boss Theme (Fight Hard!). The build up is too good to leave out! Sadly though, the last segment of that specific song doesn't play twice before looping over again. It's pretty much everyone else's favorite part as well. lol, PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN! <3 P.S. The Battle Theme (Fight!) is also good, but like i said, if i had to choose between the 2, it'd be the Boss Theme (Fight Hard!) instead. Feel free to merge them together if you'd like. Both songs are linked below. Here's a Youtube link for the Boss Theme (Fight Hard!). And here's a Youtube link of an Orchestral Remix Demo that someone actually created for the build up part, just to give you an idea of how it could sound when fully remixed. As for the type of style/genre that would probably work well for this song?... Possibly more epic, upbeat, atmospheric, orchestral, etc. types! Kind of like a modern take, since the N64 had audio limitations. I wanna feel badass, with a sense of urgency when fighting a big boss in-game. Feel free to implement the Battle Theme (Fight!) as well. It has a dark/serious tone to it, which i really love.

  7. I strongly recommend the All Your Bass festival podcast, really interesting stuff that showed the different viewpoints and work processes of the different composers. Protodome and I were both there listening. Was a bit of a crazy line up they got in there. Really fucking badly marketed tho, there were only like 20 people watching the thing, including us.

  8. When I write them, I make sure it's not crazy. Playing too many octaves is tiring, playing strange intervals the whole time might be too hard, etc. I try to hum a bass line to accompany a melody. Try doing that, and then writing out what you hummed. Tweak it a little until it matches the groove of the melody. With practice, that might be able to come naturally (that's what I do if I'm stuck). Generally if I want to check and see if it's 'good', I just think, could a normal person sing it, or play it? If not, what would they change to make their part simpler? Sometimes simple is good. Overall, it should fit the mood when you're done. EX: https://app.box.com/s/x19ibwfak65ni91jtbnr http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01849 http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02859 http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02767

  9. Just randomly saw this video on YouTube, and felt compelled to talk about it I've mostly cut games out of my life, expect for the odd binge every now and then. Over the last couple, 3 months I've been playing Rome Total War and it's become my most played game on Steam now...at 30 hours. I feel ashamed of that, but that's absolutely nothing compared to many people. One of my friends, he's married with a kid and has sunk over 2000 hours into one game in less than a year, yet can't understand why his wife is pissed at him! For me, putting hundreds, let alone thousands of hours into a game is unthinkable as an adult; shit, I don't know that I ever pulled that off as a kid and as a teenager, I never played games for most of those years as I was too obsessed with music and playing guitar. Curious to hear your thoughts on the whole subject.

    Video Game Addiction

2000 hours is over 83 consecutive days, so I'm not thinking he got there in two months. Perhaps you meant 200 hours, which I'd consider excessive for an adult with a child. I put in a couple of hours a day at the absolute most; more often than not the number is zero. There's a reason why they're talking about adding video game addiction to the DSM (not exactly using that word, because they have a very specific definition of what "addition" means, medically). Gambling "addiction" is called "gambling disorder," for instance. The term under consideration right now is "internet gaming disorder," which of course misses the point in a lot of ways. But it's definitely true that video games, designed in certain ways, can hit those reward triggers in the brain.
