    I Scored an RPG

Hey everyone! I'm happy to share that as of today, my name is officially attached as "composer," not "remixer," to a 100% original game soundtrack. It's an indie game, but still, I had a blast stepping into RPG mode and crafting the various map themes, battle music, castle, shop, and church tunes... lots of good stuff. I'd like to invite you to give it a listen, and let me know what you think! (Also check out the game, it's out on Steam and actually pretty challenging.) https://mazedude.bandcamp.com/album/mazequest-2-original-soundtrack For your listening pleasure, the album also includes several bonus tracks that didn't actually make it to the game, and, a whole bunch of chiptune concept pieces. I'm not a keyboard player, so drafting in 8-bit seemed like a time-friendly way to present thematic ideas without getting hung up on samples and such. Have fun comparing the chiptunes to the final orchestrated pieces; some are very close, and some changed a bit during the orchestration. Enjoy!

  2. Hello people. Wanted to share here one of my work. It isn't supposed to become an OCR thing, but just wanted to share it with you, as i think it's one of my "best" work so far. Even if i'm still a noob with synth and i still have a lot to learn about mixing. But anyway, here it is, any kind of feedbacks, even harsh ones are welcome, as my goal is to keep on improving =)

I get that. I only meant good in a like how raw it sounds. I've never used a tracker and just rely on midi. Maybe one day I'll experiment. I have an old gameboy I should try to tweak out. Ya, focusing on the orchestration and production. It sounds really clean what you did. Very polished.

Thanks Jay! I appreciate the feedback. Are you saying "gritty" in a good way, or a bad way...? Those are primarily square waves, plugged into the tracker, along with some triangle and sine and white noise. Post-processing was extremely minimal. I wasn't going for a well-produced chiptune album deal, rather, showcasing the simplicity of the drafts that then evolved into something bigger. No reverb or EQ added, etc.

Gratz, Christopher! Always glad to see new music and to listen to more of your work. I like the range you're showing here and being able to hear your chiptune drafts. Those chiptune tones are so gritty. What are you using for that?

  6. Hey guys! If you don't remember me, I'm one of the ones who had to drop out of the compo because school just started. I was able to catch the voting for the last round and I listened to some of the earlier songs, and I have to say that all you guys are really talented. I wouldn't have stood a chance! Good job to all of you!

  7. When people hear of a video game involving big superheroes and Game of Thrones, they imagine things like Witcher, Arkham City or that Spider-Man game that's busted more records for Sony than one of their turntables: Games that put you in the role of these characters. Not "it's basically a movie that you can push buttons to" like Until Yawn

  9. Well, I'm leaving this battle with honor. I've lost to one of the greatest piano performance, i've heard in awhile. Thank you @Arceace! Actually I didn't expect I get so far. Still, mostly because of self dropped competitors. Too bad. Thank you everybody for your music and effort! You all are great! Surprise!! P.S. MM Competition curse still works on me. I have a new job. And it look like I'll be vanished for another 3-5 years.. Nice P.P.S. Next time @Garpocalypse, another 3 years later I guess.

  10. My remix and remake of of Lake Floria, from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Based on Dr. Pez's guitar cover. This piece never actually really stood out to me in the game, however, I heard Dr. Pez's cover of it a few years ago and it's stuck with me ever since. Hope you can enjoy my take on it and find it relaxing! -Juke

  11. Hey all. Back in 2011 I made a cover of the Skyrim Main Theme, which went viral (over 4 5 million views!) I recently made an extended and remastered version. Check it out!

    Tutorial - Gated Reverb

Hey guys, New tutorial for y'all! This time I explain how to use gated reverb to get that classic big 80s snare or tom sound. This technique isn't too difficult at all and although I'm using Logic Pro, the process should be exactly the same in any DAW where you have reverb and a noise gate. Hope you find this one useful! Cheers, Syllix

    A sad Telltale...

i also think that there games are overrated. But a few of my friend told me that the Wolf among us was an amazing game. I think it was an original IP from them and it bombed so maybe this is one reason why they focused on licenced games. But it seems that there was mismanagment too. In the german media there was an article stating that they had about 400 employes working on several games at some point. it was all a mess some said. I think they were inovators once when the first walking dead season came out but after that they failed to inovate further and stay fresh. I think there games were mostly aimed at casual gamers wich prefer adventure games. Now we know that this is not a market that can sustain a 400 man company xD.
