You realize my point revolves around how often someone decides to switch between playing games in the average amount of time they're away from wherever they keep their systems, right? Most people don't just have their handhelds on long trips, and Nintendo isn't going to take away your DS and Lites as soon as you buy a DSi. You will still have access to your precious GBA library, just in a different system. If you get nostalgic for the good old Advance days, you can always boot up your DS or take it with you instead. My point is you aren't missing out on anything because you'll still have all your old hardware to use and keep with you, even though most buyers won't even have use for that. EDIT: I'm out, got shit to do tomorrow and I'm already sick. Have fun guys.

It means you try and simplify and exaggerate the opponent's argument - replacing it with a "straw man" version - that can easily be knocked down or mocked. It's exactly what you're doing here. EDIT: Why does everyone act like suddenly all versions of the GBA, GBASP, Micro, DS, and DS Lite will suddenly cease to exist? If your Pokemon are that precious to you, just transfer them over before using the DSi. Personally, if you can't tell, I'm really excited about the new features. I want to see what developers can build with a camera and a higher focus on audio. Will Wright, just a month ago, said he'd love to see cell phone cameras integrated into games in new and creative ways, and he's a fan of the DS (plays Advance Wars). I wanna know if he's planning anything, first and foremost.

In gaming terms, two years is a long, long time. Time enough for a sequel or upgrade or Moore's Law to take effect at least once, and plenty of time for someone to finish a game to the point they don't feel the need to pick it up again. I think we're using our handhelds in different ways. I don't take mine on long trips, I use mine in between classes or after working on a project or while on break at work. Of course, if you really can't stand being without your precious GBA games (how many of that list are you actually going to play over a one-week trip? Assuming you have actual business to do), there's always the GBA and its AA batteries.

Nice job strawmanning the argument bub. I'm saying it's stupid complain about the removal of a feature that hasn't been used ('cept one count of GHDS) in over a year and won't ever be used again, when already there are a multitude of devices out there that perform that task (playing GBA games, in case you're still having problems following) perfectly well. It's like complaining years ago that DVD players don't have VCR players built into them anymore. Yes, there's stuff that the VCR had that DVD's didn't, but it was so easy to get a VCR player (and more likely you already had one) that there was no justification for the complaint. I do want to point out, Okami Wii was incredibly fun. The only real difficulty was learning the motion to attack took some practice. Also, just like the PS2 version, you could hold down a button to force a straight line (or just not suck at holding your arm still).

Yeah, but how often does that happen? The last worthwhile GBA game was Final Fantasy 6 over a year ago. Seriously, when I go out there's maybe one or two games maximum I want to play (currently, KSSU and FFIVDS). It's a valid complaint if you legitimately switch between GBA and DS games in one trip out from the house (or wherever you keep your games), but realistically that's just silly. Like what? The Opera browser that'll be built into the DSi? Was there a Rumble Pack for a game? Seriously I'm having problems remembering anything remotely worthwhile we're missing out on here.

Let me get this straight, you are complaining about removing a feature that's been a cheap addon for the past two hardware generations and is no longer relevant, instead replacing it with downloadable content, SD card support, audio support, a fucking camera, and a shop? If by "at the moment" you mean, "for the last four years," then that still doesn't make sense. It isn't that hard to save up $130 (or earlier, $150), just get a job. If you're really that bugged by not having a GBA slot in a new system when hardware has been available to play GBA games for years then you're just nitpicking. Go buy a GBASP and stop bitching, seriously. It's called moving forward, not all of us have to save up our meager allowance to afford a new system.

You know, if Nintendo passed over the order to Retro to port MP 1 & 2 to the Wii, it would help explain the walkout by the three leaders a few weeks ago. After they were done MP3 they pretty much said they were done with Metroid and very happy to be moving on. That, and if I were stuck programming for one series for however many years it's been, I'd probably get sick of it too. Didn't mind it with the GBA or DS, won't bug me now. Also we all know how the DS has suffered so much from having such a weak processor, amirite? With those ugly Final Fantasy games and all...

That's not punishing early adopters, that's punishing people who never bought in despite knowing that eventually the slot would be removed. I bought a DS at launch and have had it since, and will get a DSi. Same with the GBA - got an original, didn't upgrade until the DS. You've had literally four years to buy it, and DS sales are slowing down (finally) - basically, 99% of the people who were actually gonna buy DS's already have. Also all they've removed is the GBA slot, which makes Guitar Hero DS unplayable on it. But if you wanted GHDS, you already have it and a Lite. And if you wanted something to play GBA games, you already have it. They shouldn't have to cater to backward compatibility after all this time, especially when the market has so many popular ways to play those games (GBA, SP, Micro, DS, DS Lite). Again, that's not punishing early adopters, that's moving forward. (Also if all you think they've added is downloads, I suggest you do a lot of research, you're way off.) I agree with you on Metroid Prime, though. Man if you still think wagglan' is an accurate term for Metroid Prime 3's controls you need to stop going to /v/.

You mean one version of Guitar Hero? It doesn't matter, the DS version is absolute crap compared to any other version available anyways, and since apparently you missed it, they're planning on still selling the DS Lites alongside the DSi's for a long time to come. That, and anyone who really, really wanted to get GHDS already has it for their DS. Who cares if the new one isn't backward compatible with one game, a crappy port of a party game at that? If by "people" you mean "the really hardcore guys who can't stand change in any form," then yes. They've been hoping that group would stop bitching and go join another company so they could get another ten paying casual consumers in their place instead. Also you're forgetting that SCIV's running on a subscription service, whereas Nintendo isn't charging you a dime for it. Talk about forking over the cash. Also so long as you keep paying for things like the DS Lite and the Wii, you'll encourage them in this direction. So if you don't like it, just go get a PSP 3001 instead.

I'm gonna act like you aren't a troll and really are as stupid as you're acting. A) read the press conference. The audio and camera are intended for making games more fun and interesting, not for being a high-quality camera and MP3 player. I have no clue what you mean about Guitar Hero, but even if they alienate one of them there are always a thousand more versions of it out there. CAVE STORY WIIWARE, Sin and Punishment 2, Gamecube Remakes (potentially Metroid Prime & Echoes, Star Fox Assault (less likely), Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, et cetera, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the DS and Wii. C) Nintendo's been in this direction (fun over hardcore) for a couple of years now. I dunno where you've been. EDIT: Sauce on Metroid Prime ports.

- See mention of Pirates of Caribbean Theme Remix. - Go to Youtube and listen, sounds good. - Go to audix's main page. - Listen to SSBB theme, awesome. - Listen to CD preview. - Notice Christmas Epic. Sold. - Buy FLAC download of CD because discs aren't that important to me. - Tip $4.00 because I really, really like Global Empire and Adrenalyne Kyck.

I stopped reading his post as soon as he said he didn't like Ed, Edd, and Eddy.

Well, some of his stuff. The rest of it stretches the definition of "music" in that it's more background sounds. It's like the one thing I don't like about Relics of the Chozo, all if his stuff. But some of it's really good. If it hasn't been mentioned, Super Mario 64's Devastation's Doorway.

Russel Cox's "Farewell Star Guardian" can still make me tear up. Geno was the first real "badass" character I'd ever seen in a video game, and still one of my favorites. Also, throw me onto the "needed help with PEARLS" pile, though I actually asked my Grandma for help in that one. I wrote down all the clues I could remember and the next day she called me back and told me to try PEARLS, and when I beat the game I called her back and thanked her. xD

Bootleg Demakes Competition Complete!

That's unfortunate, I've probably enjoyed Gang Garrison II more than any other game so far. Though I have to admit Artifact's House Globe is a lot of fun, too. -
There are many secrets in this game! Many of which drive some peeps insane! Why we trynna' cheat on a really good game? Just looks like crap and it makes you look lame!

Bootleg Demakes Competition Complete!

I'm noticing several of these won't run on my video card... D: -
http://www.tigsource.com/features/demakes/ Basically, backward remakes ("demakes") of current-gen and well-known titles to older or weaker systems. Several of them aren't actually on those systems, but represent what they would look like if they were (it'd be hard to vote on a good entry if you have to have, say, a DS emulator to run it). GBA version of Aquaria? Calculator version of Portal? DS version of Mario Galaxy, two 2D Team Fortress 2's... lots of good stuff within. Also there's a torrent.

Super Mario World Ghost, Ghosts of the Marble Hall, Da Phunky Forest, Super Metroid BrinstarDreamsInRed... Depending on your definition of "music", Children of the Monkey Machine's stuff on Relics of the Chozo.

Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews

If you're in the Saint Louis area, Slacker's is a good local store that's kept Gamestop from doing much business in the area. They do all the way back to NES-era games, so anything from Super Mario Bros. to new games like Sluggers are kept. That, and they do DVD's and CD's and comic books too, but they mostly do games. -
You have to have an email address from the place you're trying to register for in order to add it as a network - i.e. you have to use your college email account to activate your account as a student of that college, so that theory isn't quite accurate. Pretty sure you can add a region as a network with no trouble, though, but there is an option for every piece of private information about "friends only," "friends and people in my network," et cetera.

As the Ars Technica document said, the source code is open, so you can recompile it yourself without agreeing to the contract.

That wasn't his argument. Honestly, I agree with him - that comic did start to grate on my nerves by the time I stopped reading.

Slight? Games are proportionally cheaper now than they ever have been. I approve of a ten-dollar price hike on $50 games, because frankly I'd rather see developers make more off an individual copy sold than having to spend half their budget on marketing so that they can turn a profit.
