  1. http://www.btmusic.com/ Sure, shit gets stolen all the time, but BT's just an awesome fucking dude. His music and response to this expands on that aspect as such. Even though he never tours anywhere near me at all... ever, I hope he can get his stuff back so that this hiatus is cut short and more people can come to understand the genius that is BT.
  2. So this demo totally doesn't work for me. I see the splash screen, then the EA logo and then just a black screen. No audio either. Kinda figure with all the audio performance adjustments I've made to my computer this wouldn't work. Oh well.
  3. 0_0 Looks amazing. Anybody get recommended comp specs?
  4. I believe you're looking for StormDrum, though you're also looking at a $265 price tag. There's a section in it that actually says "Large Percussion". I'm using the taiko's a lot in an orchestral piece I'm working on and they sound great. Most instruments have been sampled at several (10 or so) different velocity levels. Edit: There's also SD2 that just came out, but that's $445.
  5. Yeah, just go ahead and come to the mideast (Kentucky, Indiana, or Ohio) when you get a chance. Kthx.
  6. MIDI CC 64 is usually the CC for the sustain pedal, with 65-69 being different variations of sustain. I don't know much about FL Studio though, and how to change parameters
  7. If you have the funds to do so, get a controller. You can assigning knobs to the main parameters in synths or the sliders to ADSR, sliders to volume levels for easily accessible mixing, and just being able to audition or try out melodies without having to click are just some of the great benefits.
  8. So where do you live so we can have this meetup? And why can't we come after and PAR-TAY at the reception Congrats though
  9. Antares is the most widely used and it is very good but it's also the most expensive. I'm not real familiar with any other ones (besides V-Vocal, though I don't think you can buy it anywhere), but I'm sure you could get by with something less expensive. You can even try a free one called GSnap (link). I haven't used it myself but it's worth a shot.
  10. You do have to have a program to load soundfonts, but you don't have to have a MIDI controller to play them. With Sequbeat, it looks like you're SOL for any sample format. Though... if you really wanted to load them you could use SAVIHost in conjunction with sfz (links). I use Savihost to mess around with Synth1 on my computer at work If you want extract samples from a soundfont, try Xtrakk (link).
  11. A software autotuner most definitely has the capabilities. Just looking at Roland's V-Vocal that comes with Sonar, you can draw in pitch changes manually exactly where you want, to what extent, and for how long. For anybody wanting to know what he's talking about, you can listen to all their songs at the website: http://www.esposthumus.com/. I have their cd myself
  12. Most likely they used a vocoder, or they set up a vocal tuner to correct to a certain scale.
  13. The Maestro Soundfont Series has pretty great sound quality, but apparently as I just found out, the main host for the soundfonts is unavailable due to bandwidth limitations. If you can find a mirror somewhere, great, but I do have some of them at home. I just personally don't know of any temporary hosting options. Check out JigginJonT's remix "Voices Broken" as he used them there. Many reviewers took them to be a real drummer (which is not just due to the great quality of the samples, but also the great sequencing on Jon's part). I can't remember what mics he used, but they were multisampled, and were not mixed in with electronic kits.
  14. I will not tolerate this "response" you speak of! Wait... what's going on? Something about Soc doing drugs? Talk about common knowledge.
  15. It's okay if you can't get all the way up the learning curve. Just roll back down... and then curse it. That'll help.
  16. D-D-D-Dammit! Too be honest, if I would've known that, I probably would not have gotten Sonar.
  17. Holy hell balls check these bad boys out: http://www.modernplugins.in-tw.com/
  18. QFE The book I'm reading now called Classical Music 101, though it's more of a guide to listening to orchestral music, also states this. Don't just read the score either, but read the score along with the music, if possible.
  19. Voila! Gary Garritan is a VERY generous man. Have fun
  20. bLiNd made a song that was supposed to be DJ friendly, but it only has a 32 beat intro. Not sure if that might work, but here you go: http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01441/
  21. Yeah, it must be something by way of the myriad techniques of audio processing then. Thanks for the clarification. BUT SRSLY, VERB IT DOOD
  22. With a high end computer (though "high end" can be subjected to different opinions in different minds) and an EMU 0404, I'd say you would be golden. Though if you can afford a high end computer, you can probably afford something better than an EMU 0404 as well. Not to mention, there are plenty more cards out there on par with the EMU 0404, around the same price range.
  23. DRENCH IT WIT VERB DOOD It does sound rather lo-fi though. You can't really improve the instrument quality per se, because they are recorded as is, but I also don't know how good the Pocket Orchestra is supposed to sound, if at all better than this. I know Personal Orchestra can sound much better (see Abadoss). The composition isn't very dynamic for one, and it sounds like you're not getting a very good high and low end response, like old AM radio (which is usually replicated with a mid-range band pass filter that cuts the high and low) Maybe it has something to do with how you are running them through Dimension Pro, I'm not sure. Panning seems really centered as well. Sorry if my suggestions seem scatter-brained. You do have a nice little arrangement going though.
  24. It all depends. How big the instrument is you're using, how many instruments you're using, computer specs (ram, cpu speed, HD speed, etc), drivers, all that good shit. Sorry I couldn't give you a more definitive answer.
