Welcome to OCR. First thing, the balance, it's more to the right ear; that's an easy fix. Too many repetitions, you might want to change rhythm pattern a bit here and there and also your leads are a little in the background (also it seems like you're using the same instrument for layering the background). I'm not familiar with the source tune but if you're covering everything that in the source, then it might be a good idea to introduce some original writing OR use another source for less repeating bits. You need to introduce more layers and make your leads more prominent. Good luck!

Man this is absolutely amazing! Very beautiful track. I'm not sure if liked both your kick and snare. Try experimenting with another set (things that go well with Chillout style with snare having a little more reverb/delay). Having said that, even if you don't change that, I'd still love it. excellent work!

I'm finally done with this mix, and I kept Chrono Cross ending with some improvisation. I think I'm happy with how it sounds. Now, totally open for suggestions and feedback before handing over to judges. Not sure if I overdid the fusion, but this is what I have as a wip2. I'd appreciate if someone can take a listen and let me know if it makes any sense or not. I just took bits and pieces from the sources to come up with my mix. I probably will get rid of Chrono Cross ending and will come up with something else. "Time's Scar" deserves an individual mix and not just tiny bits. You don't have to listen to sources if you don't want to. Just let me know if the fusion feels natural or disjointed. Thanks! Although it does sound close to the source but I think not as much to go OCR non-compliant. Besides, this is what was playing in my mind. I am thinking of fusing it with another mix to extend it to a full song. Hopefully, I'll be able to come up with something worth submitting. (btw, I updated it slightly (still calling it wip1) but since you liked the guitars, I thought of introducing some more... )

First thing, if you're not familiar with Elemental Master, check it out, not only it has some really awesome music but it also is not a bad game at all. It's on Sega Genesis btw. I was really surprised to see this mix getting a NO. I think it can perfectly fit in not only in a slow paced Sonic level but can serve as an excellent RPG town music. I'm not a fan of Sonic "3D Blast" music but the lead doesn't feel like too much of a lead (maybe because of too many repetitions). Maybe you'd want to introduce an original piece somewhere in between to break the repeating lead. I don't know; I love it as it is.

Production is off the charts amazing on this one. Probably the most "fun" mix to listen to on OCR; Loved the brass and sax work here. Loved LulzA's vocals. Awesome job guys!!

Dude!!! this is so awesome man! Takes me back to the 80's.

Chillout is my favorite genre. I absolutely love this mix (snare is a bit too loud for me in some places) but everything else is just perfect. Beautiful mix!

Thanks! It was my fault. I asked them to decide for themselves which game they want to accept it for. The problem was, the remix (including the title) was written with Bayonetta in mind whereas the source tune is totally from After Burner. So a little bit of injustice done to the original track. But then again, the judges review thread says "Bayonetta & After Burner". Not sure what they are going to do.

Big improvements overall; Loving it! Not to discourage you or anything but I still suggest you get it through mods first. They are very good at telling you whether you have a chance or not. Best of luck!

I'm also working on a SoR mix which requires many sounds from the game. Here's what I do, run the game via emulator, open any audio editing tool (I use sound forge) and record the sample as you play it from the options screen. I'm not sure if that "unh" sound is available individually. If I complete my sounds set, I will share it with you.

Your warnings sure were enough but I still wasn't prepared for this. The synth is "dangerous" at this time. You're also right about background instruments being too loud. Also, why start the lead from the first beat of the measure? Maybe change it back to 3rd beat to make more sense, but that's up to you.
