Left 4 Dead 2 - now $6.80 on Steam!
Schwaltzvald replied to The Damned's topic in General Discussion
I'll admit I was shakey on the system build scenario, but man you'd have to be a major dick to do something like that for a quick buck on an average joe though I do hope to see that same community for L4D to stay strong despite the ugly thought of all the players moving to the next one en mass. And for the damned SDK to come out for the both of them. -

No one expects the Urban Survivalists! Our chief weapons are chainsaws... chainsaws and guns... guns and chainsaws... Our two weapons are guns and chainsaws... and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are guns, chainsaws, and ruthless efficiency... and an almost fanatical devotion to the axe... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as guns, chainsaws... I'll come in again... -
More like Skwisgaar Skwigelf in combination with Aquaman from the JLU cartoon series... That'd be old link.

I actually bought the PC version as I had no xbox and always preferred FPSs on the PC. There are others who bought the console versions but don't call them stupid for not having the wisdom of the future. Try comparing the ire of the early buyers here to those that suddenly found out their HD-DVD players are instantly obsolete the day it was announced that the format was dead, and new buyers that just bought a player before the announcement and who don't follow such wars (general populace) thinking "Oh it wouldn't matter too much" OH YES IT DID. People are not pissed about how the console versions were shit to begin with as it's becoming to be an accepted fact, people are pissed, in particularly the early/first buyers, about not seeing more support of the original title and felt they were charged to play an overblown demo in comparison to the next iteration. Now before unleashing the dogs me, L4D was and still is fun, it's wanting to add more value to the game such as extra content and "real mods", not just sound packs... New maps, possibly new fun modes, tweaked stronger AI Director ect that the first time buyers want to see. As for being gracious about it, Valve don't care at all about our being gracious and more about being successful; in this regard, continuing the L4D series. L4D2 may this time around see new content added on along side being vanilla, where as the original was like getting french vanilla (which is very tasty and mostly satisfying) but very few chocolate chips thrown in. @ Prophet: I had expected you of all people to understand how early buyers can end up feeling robbed or over charged when their recently newly built system can't handle or handles poorly new and up coming software in a few months. -
Probably worse than the damned medusa heads that float around, at least they got a pattern but the flea men? NoooOOOooooo they gotta be all over you like a supermodel over a porcelain bowl and humping on you every chance they get. >:L

Considering they have , , and a couple more on the XBox360 in Japan, you're right in asking why I'm surprised. I really don't have much of a response actually, I'm just simply am. This is probably one of the few times I'm actually kinda spoiled when it comes to shmups/bullet hell games. I mean what about the poor die hard mac/linux users who'll never have the opportunity to play the touhou series; at least those that never want to touch anything windows ever again, even through wine/parallels. edit: OH SHIT English patches for and been released~! Gonna be interesting to see how 2 player mode works; got a friend who wanted to try it after an english patch comes out.

No kidding Much easier to throw insults than make decent arguements am I right? In the end, once it's released, most if not all of us, will be more accepting towards the idea of buying the pc version of L4D2, as it should foever be agreed that the console ports will always be shit in both support and gamer population in comparison. These days xbox/ps2/3 variant controllers for the PC are more abundant, so it should quell keyboard/gamepad preference wars. This time, while it's still a luxury, it isn't unreasonable to expect at least once in a while some extra contant, with a fee or free of charge. -

Those games have SDK packs out already while L4D still has yet to release one... Also I always felt the UT series was shit but that's of a personal opinion, Oh dear. Quake was always awesome though -
Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews

Caught me a couple of times, couple of chuckles but nonetheless I don't know what to think of Bionnic commando really. Then again I'm probably the only one on the OCR forums that got Cross Edge so I probably know jack shit about newer titles these days; yes I admit it and I don't see what's so difficult about it where reviewers seem to feel inadequate to comprehend it. -

Well all we can do now is wait for that SDK pack to be released for that extra content then. Let the modding community pick up where Valve leaves off, which they had done before with HL/TFC. -

He's perfectly free to complain about L4D in light of the recent news of L4D2, and he never said he wanted a free addition to l4d; DLC with charge is fine as he said as well as expansion pack. He, myself included, and many others would have simply enjoyed seeing new content added to L4D. Really, why have they yet to release the SDk for L4D? Once that is out, then hey the modding community will pick up from there. Unlike vanilla Quake, L4D isn't as simple and working a few hacks in is bound to be slow and tedious for a majority that there's no point in even bothering to add new content if another version is better, thus lowering its value. Okay so they miss out some awesome coop experience, those that actually bought it and played it can say that but those that haven't will just skip it altogether... Chances are I will buy L4D2 anyways, but it doesn't remove the feeling that the original iteration was overpriced for what should have been an "expansive" game; if not from valve then from the modding community, free or not. edit: Also went for the PC version as I have no 360 and already had that hunch it was going to be crippled on the console port. Also please do not bring the gamefaggotry here, this is after all the OCR Forums not gamefaqs -
Not to mention based on the first post, the different versions are available in specific formats; Starter = dell/hp pcs (will always go for building my own so no thanks) Home Basic = Not in the US Home Premium = Win7 Home edition with Media Center Win7 Prof = (in my eyes) Win XP with a few extra features Win7 Enterprise = Win7 Ultimate except targeted to large companies Win7 Ultimate = Win7 Enterprise except reversed to single license instead of large volume licensing Basically... There's only 2 that ought to be focused on (imo) which is Windows 7 Professional and Windows Ultimate. Not that difficult unless one wants the media center edition (Win7 Premium)

Shmups always been something of a niche gaming genre, despite the fact that the earliest (at least most popular) had been space invaders... I would have to say "hardcore games" actually means, games that you actually have to put in a lot of effort these days. FPSs and gory slaughtering (more leik pseudo-slaughtering) is fine, but soon as they see anything resembling , , or even this with any sense of difficulty, most "casual gamers" will run away shitting in their pants...But enough about that, here's an awesome game play comparison between a novice and an expert player here's the extra stuff for Raiden IV via wikipedia~

I thought he was aiming for the consumer's perspective... Most early buyers would be pissed if the product they got turned out to be planned for early obsolescence with a Ver.2 of the same product so early; and they didn't know about it in advance. Less so if it was done with a couple of years in between said products. -
With tons of people with short tempers, habitual knee-jerk reactionaries, and more people discovering 4chan among other aspects of internet culture... Lots of doubt.. But hey back to that controller, great demo, loving the 1-1 tracking as it appears to be. Can't wait to see some "good" RTS titles applying it effectively.
-
I didn't see this mentioned so... being ported to the XBox 360 exclusively with a lot of extra content and stuff. The shmuper in me is very disappointed it's a 360 exclusive, especially since there are no actual "arcades" that I know of around my area; not to mentioned it never saw international release in the arcades to begin with... I'm also surprised that it will be on the 360 to begin with despite how the console does in Japan.

You may as well just build a new very beefy system and get your self a copy of Win XP Pro SP3 or from what I hear Vista Ultimate Or you know... you could wait till Windows 7 comes out... Not dissing linux but...

I'm rather amazed, not to mention the use of chainsaws would be awesome. I just hope though it has limited use though otherwise there will be servers filled to the brim with chainsaws whirring around all the damn time. Next up, fan made download content where you can wield both the chainsaw and shortbarrel version of the shotgun. -
Would it be wrong of me to hope for something like THIS grandiose to be in future releases..? Can't hear the first one as I am at work.

Time Warner Cable Internet Rate Change
Schwaltzvald replied to Hawkwing's topic in General Discussion
Thought about starting a new thread but decided this one suits it better as it continues the saga of TWC's shenanigans... Seems like Time Warner managed to slip in something akin to their original plans recently... Here's a couple of real sticklers here... You guys stuck with their services... you all may want to break out that astroglide to help ease their plans on you... -
I take it that it's on the 360 rather than the PC..? (Note I prefer the PC to the XBox 360 and I don't have the 360) Would love to test it but if it's not on the PC... :L
-
I'd imagine it would come to the PC eventually, considering potential mods that could be had from it... like a duke nukem twist..?
