    I know windows wont even recognize those cds. Kontakt, however, or any other sampler that supports the format im willing to bet, will see it and be able to import.

    This is very true. However, at things that they all three do (ie internet, office stuff, mail etc.) it makes sense to prefer one over the other. For example, I enjoy doing those things on Ubuntu 7.04 (upgrade, man) more then on windows because of things like beryl and speed issues.

    There was a thread that was on this before... the main problem is that people use all sorts of different stuff; Different sequencers, different instruments, different versions... it's hard to get exactly the same stuff.

    QFE Hey snapple, since you seem educated, what would be your dream bass? I play on an ibanez like that one (but 4 strings), and I was wondering what is the best out their. Would it be just one of those standard fenders?

    XP home supports DUAL processors, but not quad, which you will need to get pro for. I know this because XP Home thinks my hyper-thereaded (remember that?) P4 is 2 processors.

    The best program is your ears. Seriously, learn to transcribe by ear - no program can even come close to emulating them yet.

    My controller (CME UF6) came with a cd that has the definitions for all the major DAWs. Cubase works great with this thing, and I bet for most controllers you could find one on the web.
