  1. Reuben Kee's commitment and contributions to a small budding community such as OCRemix has revealed much about himself as a musician and a person. I personally have always been excited to see his works become released on the site. It was probably his remix from Street Fighter that motivated me to collect more his songs. As a fan, he has done more for me than I could have ever done for him. I can say with some confidence that he is certainly a source of influence for aspiring musicians and will continue to be for years to come.
  2. But the other judges might not like it if it's all you know... gooey and stuff...
  3. In the winter time? I don't think it would be that crowded, but tourists do come at any time of the year. There is no cost for the Statue of Liberty, however, there is one for the ferry that takes you there. If you get a ticket to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, it will cost you about 12 dollars. I'm not too sure about Ellis Island, but it doesn't post a price anywhere. I thought it was similar to a museum and you might have to pay a small fee for admission, but I'm not too sure. It's a good idea though.
  4. I really have no idea what "FT" stands for. But apparently, the judges go through their queue at different speeds. Liontamer and most recently zircon have finished with theirs. Who knows about the other ones? Since you need a certain number of votes from judges to be rejected or accepted, maybe it's just bad luck that one of your remixes was overlooked?
  5. I will agree with zircon. FFV and VI are probably your best bets for early FF games. Those are particularly the cream of the crop. I am playing through FFV right now, but the weak plot doesn't really motivate me to delve any more into the game. I started FFVI on PS with my friend, just doing a whole run through. The music in VI is hands down better than the other FF games I've played. But yeah.. what is wrong with IV? I was going to get that over V.
  6. Agreed. I like the interface for WMP very much. I still use it for my default for some activities, like listening to audio CDs specifically. However, for it's much more practical to load up specialized players for audio and video. For video, I'd suggest zoomplayer. For audio, Winamp is the progam I've settled with. It's just that with Winamp, you should just organize your mp3s and such in a logical way so you can find things fairly quickly. Other than filenames, you need good ID3 tags (tag&rename should help tons). And that's about it. I find that I just don't like iTunes. It works, but being that it's an application that is very widely used, you'd think it would smooth out its bugs quicker after loads consumer complaints. There are some aesthetic conflicts I have with it, but other than that... the option to make your player compact is a must. WMP is good. Use it first if you have no need outside of .avi and .mp3.
  7. When did we ever go to opium dens before? Anyway, I don't think I've ever seen one, not to say that I've ever consciously went out to look for one before. But there are hookah bars that are sporadically located in Manhattan. They're always so desolate though.. not too sure how popular they are in general. It's difficult to find a "home base" in NYC in general. I, again, could ask some of my friends, but they live out of the way. The time wasted for traveling would outweigh the benefits of having a place to store out stuff. We could always go to some helpful hotel and ask if they'll hold our stuff for us for a small fee. Someone could always call in and ask ahead of time. I believe there's a Holiday Inn near the corner of Lafayette and Canal that has fancy revolving doors and doormen. It's fairly large and they should have plenty of space in the their coat check for some bags maybe. If we're going to spend an extended period of time in Chinatown, might as well use that place. But if not, maybe some place around Grand Central would be more appropriate. First, we need to get a good estimate of how much stuff needs to be stored. What other activites are there? New York has a lot to offer... if of cousre you're into that sort of stuff. I'm thinking that not a lot of people are into museums and architecture and most all of that jazz either. Admiring buildings from the outside in the cold can get rather unattractive very soon. There are some places that are noteworthy though, Washington Square Park, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Grand Central Terminal, Chrystler and Empire State Building, and Times Square. There could be comedy clubs we can go to at night. Wintuk or any other live performance is free game as well. The New York City Ballet's The Nutcracker is playing then, but the 29th is considered to be a prime peak performance.. which only means bad news regarding the cash issue. This also goes for the Radio City Hall's Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes. Yes. Yes. I know how much everyone wanted to go. But it's 40 dollars for the cheapest seat on the 29th.
  8. I'm going... I guess. My friends and I have been going for 2 years now. It's nothing really special. It's just really an excuse to spend some time together. Really, there isn't too much stuff that's worth getting unless about to go all HD for television. Sales on cameras are pretty much laughable as well as flash memory. Though it's cheaper than it normally is by a good margin, it's not worth waiting in line for so long and waking up so early as well in my opinion. I already got what I need gadget-wise anyway. Plus, there aren't any really good DVDs or CDs on sale either. If anything, I'd buy those. I'm happy that Best Buy has put their deals online though... but there still isn't anything I want. I guess I should be happy with what I have. I hardly get gifts, and when there's a good reason to buy something for myself... there's nothing I want.
  9. I don't think that's what he means exactly... shoryuken just has good priority over most normals. I'm going to say that they're not doing it instantly, rather, they're reading your pokes. Mix it up some more.
  10. HOLD IT! How can you be so sure that Taucer didn't know about Wintuk before your post? He hasn't replied at all between your posts at all in this thread.
  11. Vista definitely works. If you're a very casual user, it's everything XP is but prettier. I have heard of some quirks with the latest version of Office, but I really can't verify if that's due to human error or buggy programming. I know some people that use it, but you shouldn't get the bare bones version of Vista. A friend of mine suggested that I should only settle for the ultimate version. I don't exactly know why they have so many different versions out in the first place. It's the one that fully makes use of the Aero skin or something along those lines. I didn't really figure out the details since I had already built my new computer. I think that your initial thoughts are correct. Vista takes a lot of RAM. That's about it. If you have enough RAM in the specs, then you should be fine. It runs a lot of background programs in real time, which causes a smooth transition when switching from one program to another, at the cost of RAM. If you're looking to get away with a cheaper set up, then go for XP. I was on the fence about this too. But I ended up getting 2 gigs of RAM but with XP in case I ever wanted to upgrade in the future. This was only because XP was well... cheaper than Vista.
  12. What's that I hear?? Oh... it's only Taucer's heart breaking a little bit. You're so insensitive at times, Bahamut. >:0
  13. Wintuk definitely came across my mind. But yeah, the cash issue also came up as well... Let's see who's on the definite and maybe list who'd like to go as well. The cost per ticket will be at least 40 dollars. They set a maximum price as 200 dollars which is dependent upon the day you go see it. I think that the 29th might be one of the busy nights though because it's right before New Years and after Christmas. But the good thing is that they have 3 shows on that day so it's pretty flexible with scheduling stuff. What say you now!?
  14. Whoa there. Sunshine was not bad. In most ever single Mario game, there's usually something new to play around with. For Sunshine, it was with the FLUDD system. There's a lot of things you can do with it to solve puzzles and get around obstacles and such. It took me a while before I actually started to like it. There are some stages without FLUDD, a stage hovering in mid-air in a bottomless pit. Those are especially fun to play if you're missing some classic Mario 64 action. All in all, the game was not what the fans were used to, only different, but still a good game to play through.
  15. Though the d-pad and buttons are more responsive than the SNES controller, I disliked the ergonomics of the Saturn/Genesis controller. That's just me though. (Also, I didn't like the PS's d-pad because it's only the discrete arrows, no corners.) Getting an SNES pad for Wii is just for nostalgia's sake, but it's really cool that they're doing this. The big deal is the OST. Come on, I think we all want this thing (the controller is only a welcomed freebie). But it's really a shame that we can't get in on the action.
  16. The SNES pad is godly. Perhaps you cannot fully utilize it's awesome-ousity.
  17. Same thing happened with my old USB gamepad. You might as well get a new one. I'm going to guess that there's something amiss between the connection between the USB and the actual flash memory itself. Either you take it apart and do something... but that's a large hassle in itself. Yell at the person who took it out and make them pay for it. Sorry, I feel your pain.
  18. Just kidding, dude. I know my way around the mean streets of New York. It's all good.
  19. Being Liontamer, he can see through the shadows.
  20. I need confirmation. Is long jump in the game??? I missed it so much in Super Mario Sunshine. I need me some long jump... it's the only way to travel.
  21. Yeah. I was wondering how this game was going to be received by the public. My friend showed me countless demos and youtube videos. It does look awesome, but yes, very ambitious. Something this ambitious would almost have to be a dissapointment in some ways. From what I understood, it was released just the other day... but my friend still didn't get it. Instead he got Super Mario Galaxy. So I never really got to touch this game at all. In the end, the game is probably overhyped but in its own right, still a quality play through without any severe faults. I look forward to full in-depth reviews from you guys soon.
  22. You're not going to be MY buddy. I know what happened to your last one... :0 YOU'RE ONLY INVITED IF YOU WANT TO COME!! In other words... anyone is invited. I just hope that there can be enough interest generated in this meet up. Generally, these things are pretty successful. *sigh* Then again, maybe no one wants to come because pixie hasn't announced if she's going or not. I'm pretty cool though. Does anyone want to meet me in real life? Perhaps I can convince others with my feminine wiles~
  23. I believe that if you have this set up, a port on your router will be unavailable. So your router has 4 ports, 1 will be de-activated. That means you have 3 working ports. Use 2 for the computers, and then 1 for the switch. All of the ports on the switch should work. Hopefully this isn't too much work. Also, for your information, the term "switch" doesn't really mean anything particularly special. It's technically just a internet hub with some inbuilt features with better bandwith efficiency. I forgot the term of this phenomenon. I thought it was called port burn out or something similar. But Google yields no helpful results. If I recall correctly, I read about this in one of the manuals for my linksys router.
  24. You know me. I have no life. Well, I do... It's just not too exciting. I hope there will be a bunch of people there. A small meet up is sometimes sad. But then again, you can do more stuff with a smaller party. I say that this year we definitely hit up Chinatown Fair, since we didn't get to do that last time. Was going to Virgin really fun? I don't think it was... but they did have a bunch of CDs going to 10 dollars and we did find a certain soundtrack that was quite hilarious. Let's try to brainstorm some activites we can do. I like museums and galleries, and performances. But those tend to cost... money and planning ahead, which we might not be able to afford. All I really can provide are good restaurant recommendations. Also, I'll try to be a good photographer, but no promises.
