I dunno what you mean, given that there's only one ReMix on OCR of it... I don't think there are any on VGmix either. So if anything it's UNDER-remixed compared to other FF7 themes. tru dat be, it is hard to remix, it has so much variation and just is outstanding as is Aeris' theme on the other hand.....

Good to know.

The new Pokémon game looks promising, I like how they've changed the angle so that it looks more 3-dimensional.

OCR01477 - Mega Man 2 "Wily and the Deep Forest"
Bummer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Well, it took a while, but someone finally made a Woodman remix. Began soothing piano and strings, and ended doing so too. I'm glad that Woodman's melody dominated most of the time, but on the other hand I haven't found the other tracks inside it either. Oh well. Although I'm a big fan of piano and all its associates, the techno part that followed with all its beats and artificial glory was well appreciated. Diggi Dis managed to speed up the process with those instruments, the synth sometimes hit some loud key that sounded too bright, but it all worked out really nice. Now are all the robot bosses in MM2 covered, well done. -
OCR01465 - Sonic & Knuckles "Lover Reef"
Bummer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Yup, pretty much seems like it. I kind of jumped when i saw the review number on this one, but now that I've read through it, I can partly understand why. Internet argues = not cool, but instead of bringing that up again, I'm just gonna comment this collab. I liked it very mucho, began slowly with smooth strings and hihats, and pixie's voice later on joined in with an echoing noise. I got excited when I heard that Shonen Samurai was singning too, since a remix with two singers is quite rare on this site. It could have been improved in many ways, but this was partly his first remix, so I'm not gonna blame him. Now that I've heard this remix loop into infinity, I've grown attached to it and the lyrics. The guitar solo is clearly essential, love songs simply cannot be without it. Two thumbs and 10 toes up fer this one, it emitted so much love and passion that my speakers nearly burned up. I too will be looking forward to another mega-collab, hopefully with the same crew. Deluxe Tricky Tossing Zircon Samurais, I salute you. -
This remix is awesome to the max. The opening with the marimba and spanish guitar got my attention immediately, and it didn't lose the grip of it by throwing new instruments into the arrangement and changed it pace very often. The castanets didn't stand out much, you could mostly hear them in the back clapping together. However, they suited this remix nicely, since it has so many spanish elements inside it. The only bad aspect I have about this is the use of the trumpets that appeared after some time in the beginning. They came and disappeared as they wanted, I would rather have them playing long tunes instead of coming suddenly since it gave off a strange MIDI:sh feeling. But other than that, this piece had no bummers whatsoever. This get an A megaplus. It deserves it.

Man, FINALLY a rayman remix has passed the cold border into OCRemix. Too bad that I haven't played this game, but I can still recognize some melodies strolling around somewhere, except for yankee doodle one. The music was very funky and nice, the bassy synth offered a good background for this arrangement, and the overall mixed use of different instruments from flutes, indian strings and weird bells, well, the list can get quite long. There was a break from the jolly and happy feeling a while between 1:44 until 2:22, and somehow it suited perfectly. In the game itself, you couldn't really know when you would come to a musty, swampy place with pirates behind every corner, tree and what-not. This remix is a splendid pioneer for future Rayman remixes, great job chthonic. Say hi to Rayman for me.

OCR00940 - Castlevania II "Simon's Symphony"
Bummer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
It seems like DJ Crono has once again bursted through the walls of creativity and made something hip and flat and funky. My rap-dictionary isn't what it's supposed to, but I'll try give this a shot anyway. The beginning was very smooth, it opened up with a piano which then kept the main role in the arrangement. Then after a while some new elements joined in, the trumpet for example together with the dark and heavy beats and.......strings? This rap session has class. I thought that the lyrics would come in earlier, but it seems you decided to wait with that until the listener has gotten into the rhytm. The lyrics themselves was a little hard to hear, they sort of drowned with the rest of the sounds and it wasn't really clear either. If it wasn't for the lyrics, there would be no chance that I would hear something. However, although the voices isn't that much of understandable, they do work as a musical component. The human voice adds the final jigsaw piece to this creation, there wouldn't be much rap without it, more like funky techno. This reminds me of your FF6 Eres des Points, but this samples had better quality this time, and the lyrics was now also personal since you was the one singing them. Rap may not be the most appreciated music style(or maybe not, who knows), but this site wouldn't be much without remixers that dares to twitch and turn certain game tracks into something entirely different. Thanks for a pimpin' nice remix Crono, you're the man. This is going into my mp3 on the double. -
OCR01475 - Zelda II "Mirror and Transparent"
Bummer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Pure awesomeness in simple form, I like it alot. I know to a certain limit how the FL samples actually sounds like, but now that I listen to this, I'm amazed how Rellik makes them work together to create something different. I'll keep this one. -
OCR01376 - Sonic & Knuckles "Lava Reach"
Bummer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Man, these Sonic remixes is just getting better and better. I'm one of the persons that never heard of Jivemaster, but after a remix like this I'll probably never forget him. The Lava Reef Zone was a cool place in the game, annoying at some times when you suddenly lost your 4500 rings you'd collected, but I guess that's life. This arrangement reflected the style of that place very good, all the samples that's being used sounds very good together, and there are hardly no low quality samples nor annoying instruments. This remix has sky rocketed up to my top five list, although this is the first time I'm listening to Jivemaster's pieces. It's just great. Sorry to hear that Israfel has stepped down, he could make some impressive orchestral remixes. I must start reading pretzel's comments on the new remixes, it's kind of embarrassing to get to know matters like this a couple of months after they've happened. -
OCR00508 - Sonic & Knuckles "Hot Stuff"
Bummer replied to orkybash's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The title of this remix wasn't kidding, this really is hot stuff. It's fast-paced, have alot of stuff going on and has nice samples used in it. I don't think there's much left to say than great job Malcolm. Great job Malcolm. -
OCR00442 - Sonic & Knuckles "Hidden Palace (Master Emerald)"
Bummer replied to Ginnsu's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Now it's the 12th May 2006, I think we'll never gonna know how it turned out. Onwards to the remix, it was surprisingly good. The small bell pads that was used worked well together with the synth piano and groovy beats. A very smooth arrangement, there are some instruments that annoyed me at first with their SNES quality, but along with everything else, it sounds swell. Nice. -
OCR01474 - Jurassic Park (GEN) "Concerto for Velociraptor"
Bummer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
To use a saxophone to make something like this, I'm impressed. It really did sound like cries from velociraptors. The prescense of two saxophones playing does at some points sound weird since the arrangement switches from one saxophone into an another one. However, they both play two important roles in this arrangement, since they both help this arrangement to sound mysterious and "other-worldy". The strings and harp worked well together with the saxophones, so I don't have that much of complaints against this. The dark and low saxophones does on some points sound weird, and the beginning starts a little abruptly, but those are minor errors that doesn't make this piece any less enjoyable. Nice work, and welcome back. -
Ye Olde Sig Shoppe - * sig requests* (read first post)

Photoshop, paint shop pro or Gimp. and lot of training Or you can do the other way: Have no clue about how Photoshop works and tries to press random functions to see what's happening. That's what I did. -
OCR01016 - Sonic & Knuckles "Deep Damp Sandcastle"
Bummer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Well this is obviously different from Beatdrop's Catapult, but this one was also made two years before that. At first I thought that Beatdrop actually was going to do something calm and ambient, since this castle is so damp, but at many places in the arrangement, that wasn't the case. The turns might've been to sudden or simply too different. If you switch to a different melody perhaps, but this is two different music styles. I like what you did with the beginning, some bass and a silent sitra laying in irs loneliness, then BOOOooooommmm....it changes style to calm again. It's like if it cannot decide if it's gonna be relaxing and deep or fast and jumpy. I liked the part that began at 2:35, since the strings and the sitra worked well together and created this ancient feel to this arrangement, and when the synth appeared it went alot more smooth than the previous time. But when it went a level higher, it didn't smooth anymore, and the it suddenly started to fade and that was the end of it. Nice remix, no questions, but it was more like two remixes in the same arrangement that argued of which one of them that would take the lead. -
OCR01393 - Sonic & Knuckles "Catapult"
Bummer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Man, this intro, THIS INTRO, those drums or whatever that begins this piece caught my attention from the start and then a moment later, BAM, onward with kick-ass trance and techno and all its glory swirling around in my headphones. This is clearly the best what I've heard from Beatdrop so far, it has action, speed and sudden twists and turns. Just like Sonic himself. Too say that this remix is awesome isn't enough, it isn't even near it. It's Über-Duper-Super-Mega-Omni-Awesome. It shocks your mind and sets your entire body in motion. Yes it did. The only problem is that it was located in the beginning, so didn't have much time expecting for it. Then it holds that pace until the end of it. Sure, it would be great if there would a terrific ending to it all, but I'm very stisfied with the beginning. It gets down to business right away. Definitly worth a download. -
This saxophone sample sounds for real, it echoes perfectly away.... Wha..? Where was I? Oh yes. AWESOME remix. Usually when I think about a piece with both a sax and piano in it, then it's jazz. However, this clearly isn't jazz, it's way to happy. It must be the fact that the bass is missing. However, jazz or no jazz, this arrangement was swell to listen to. No complaints, no annoying sounds nor samples. This remix is like a river, you'll just float with it. Nice work, DS.

Something like this can take a REALLY long while, and it has only been some months now. Patience grasshopper, patience.

OCR00799 - Monkey Island 2 "Monkey Brain Soup for the Soul"
Bummer replied to orkybash's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Smorgasbord? OK, to get on the subject, this remix is GOLD! It haves you in its grip from the very beginning, but you're still free enough to bop your head and move your feet along the rhytm. If I would go through all of it, this would be a very long post which even I can't stand to write, but the feeling that goes through this whole song, it's just magnificient. The music style changes like the direction of tennis ball, from happy to chill, and then proceeding to even an even more happier style, and then to a funky and so on. Even if you've listened to it sometimes, you still have a little hard to remember what comes next, so everytime is your first time. This arrangement is funky, jazzy, joyful, evil, dark, something for every taste and type. It makes me sad that this is the only remix made by Trapezoid, this arrangement just makes me hunger for more of this kind. Kick-assness in a 6-meg musicfile is what this is, you just GOTTA download it! -
OCR00670 - Escape from Monkey Island "Metal Monkey"
Bummer replied to Ginnsu's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Hoo boy, this was........rough. I can give Ryan some extra points for trying to make something new and individual, but I couldn't enjoy this remix as much as I would. It sounds like it was recorded 6 feet away from the microphone, and the guitar and bass almost blended into each other. A true guitar fan would appreciate this, even I can hear how good the guitar is played, but it's too much for me. -
OCR00045 - Secret of Monkey Island "AmIEviL"
Bummer replied to Joe Redifer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Ahh, this theme is so great. I've only played "Escape from Monkey Island", but this track is there too, so I know at least that this is indeed Monkey Island. I don't know what the song originally sounds like, but I bet it wasn't as chill as this remix. AmIEvil has kept the Tropical feel in this remix (or maybe he has added it, I don't know), but it's very enjoying to listen to. The main melody does its own quiet little race in the beginning while the guitar is in the centre. there's a very wide selection of instruments used to make this, I thought I heard a accordion in the middle of it, and the marimba solo at the end was an excellent finishing touch to this piece. Just awesome and funky, I love it. I just wish it had a somewhat more logical title. -
OCR00557 - Secret of Mana "Whispering Prayers"
Bummer replied to orkybash's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Indeed, this is originally a very sad track, but VotF have turned it into something more happier and mysterious. The arrangement itself is pretty good, but it sounds like if the intruments that's being used has been taken directly from the game, since they have the same SNES-ish feeling. But I still like it, with some bells and flutes and some strings to make it more relaxing and smooth. The sounds of birds and monkeys screaming adds some natural effect to it. A very nice arrangement. -
OCR00707 - Secret of Mana "Wandering the Wild Forest"
Bummer replied to Saunders's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
From my point of view, I'm not too much bothered by these "undesired elements", the piano plays for a while in the beginning, but the drums comes very slowly into the picture by using small and quiet cymbals at first and then bring in something more heavy. The flute maybe is playing a bit too loud, but not enough to get a headache (depending on what level the volume is). The guitar worked fine together with the piano, strings and drum equipment, and created a very chill and smooth atmosphere. Not very "wild" as the title says, maybe a little at 3:15, but that's about it. A very cool and descent remix, it's worth a listen or two.......or maybe 47. -
OCR00661 - Secret of Mana "Time in the Clouds DX"
Bummer replied to m68030's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I love this remix, it's the only one that's based on "What the Forest Taught Me", I got attached to it the first time I heard it. I'm glad that Kailem the positive and joyful feel this track has, the bell pads fits perfectly. The prescense of a piano and drum snares just makes this piece better, I've listened to this so many times that I've lost count. Great stuff, you gotta listen to this. -
OCR01471 - Chrono Trigger "Chronodyne Marine"
Bummer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Mostly my point too, this is electronica. If it were to be a real guitar, it would be more like some sort of rockmusic.
