  1. Hey are you guys still recruiting for this? If so, I'm interested in some of the songs that are available. I'd like to try "One Who Bears Fangs at God", but I could do some others too. If you're still taking on mixers, I'll try to upload some of my stuff by tonight, so you guys can see if I'm good enough.
  2. If you're not serious about remixing and just want to make some decent mixes, then FL Studio would probably be the ideal program for you. The learning curve is very minimal, plus it's filled with great features and such. It can do pretty much the same thing that most other DAWs can, it's just easier to use. However, you should still try out some other programs to figure out what's right for you. You should also check out some of the stickied threads in this forum, as they can be very helpful to someone who's new to remixing.
  3. First off, I have to say all of your remixes on this site are awesome, and that I'm a big fan of them. As for this remix, I haven't heard the original(I plan on checking it out sometime though), but I really like what you've done regardless. The subtle stuttering/glitchy effect that comes in at 2:20 is especially awesome. I can't really think of any criticism for this, other than the fact that it's kinda short. Overall, I like this mix, and hope to hear more from you in the future.
  4. Alright, I think it's time for me to get a sig change. I thought about it for a while, and I couldn't really think of anything in particular, so... just do something you think would look cool. I'll give credit to whoever makes it, of course. Thanks in advance!
  5. Same here, the only time I still use it is when I want to trim up a sample or something. Sadly enough, when I first started making music, I actually used to use it to master my songs . Big mistake.
  6. Hey, look, without it, we wouldn't have such hits as: Fuck introb "Look I'm John Cage" I wept when I heard the trumpet/guitar solo in "Fuck". Beautiful.
  7. I think you have a good point here. At first, I wanted to get an extra monitor after reading that it could prove useful. While I still think that they could potentially prove useful, I think that at the same time, they are also not really necessary either. You also have a good point, it seems like such a hard decision whether or not I should purchase another monitor, but at the end of the day, I think that there are other things I could purchase that would prove much more useful than a secondary monitor. I still think that I may purchase one though, but just not right off. Thanks for all of the advice everybody!
  8. I've always liked this song, and I think you definitely do it justice. You have a very interpretive take on the theme. I don't really the samples themselves are that bad, but they could potentially hold this from getting submitted. I would go into detail into what I liked about this, but to be honest, I pretty much liked everything. I noticed that the song stops abruptly, so I'm assuming you aren't done arranging everything yet. My only advice to you would be to definitely keep at this, and to try to maybe find some live performers once you've finished arranging everything. I look forward to hearing more.
  9. First, open Cool Edit Pro. Then load up your sample, trim it, edit it, do whatever you need to do to it before you bring it to FL Studio. Once you're happy with the sample, go to "File" then click "Save As", then save your sample (I'd make a designated folder for all of your samples for that particular song). After your sample is saved, open FL Studio. Once opened, click on "Channels" at the top of the screen, then go to "Add One", and then look for "Sampler" in the menu. Once the "Sampler" channel is opened, click on the rectangular icon that says "Sampler" in the Step Sequencer. A window should pop up, in this window you will see a little folder icon to the left of a bar that says "(none)", click this folder icon. You will then be able to browse for your sample, go to the location where you saved your sample, and then click it. And there you have it! Your sample has now been loaded into FL Studio!
  10. I know what they're used for, lol. Yeah, I could certainly do without a second (or third) monitor for the time being, and space for the extra monitor(s) could also potentially be an issue. That sounds like the most sensible thing to do. Whoa.. we have the same keyboard! Thanks everybody for all of your help, I still don't know if I even want to purchase a second (or third) monitor, but if I eventually do, I think I'll take Kanthos' advice and wait until I already have some other gear purchased.
  11. I recently read that another monitor will make mixing music or almost any other task much easier. I've been considering buying another monitor, but is it really worth it? What are the pros/cons of an extra monitor? Would my money be better spent on other gear (i.e. some decent headphones/a better audio interface)?
  12. This is a really cool take on the Brambles theme. The piano sounds good, quality-wise. I haven't heard the orignal in a while (it's been about a year or two since I've played DKC2) so I didn't really notice the "awkward" parts. All in all, this sounds really nice, and I can't wait to hear what this sounds like once you put vocals to it.
  13. This is really good. The soundscapes, the ambience, your samples, everything in this song is just awesome. I can't really think of any criticisms, other than the fact that the ending is a bit abrupt, but I'm assuming it's like that because this is a WIP. Keep it up, I can't wait to hear the finished product.
  14. You guys should definitely keep working on this. I really like the flute, but what I like more than that is that this mix never seems to get repetetive, it's always changing. I don't think it would really take much more work to get this submitted, but that's just me. Best of luck with this!
  15. This has a very nice feel to it, and I think you did a good job of making the song your own. I'm really enjoying all of the ambience that you've put into this song. The piano outro that starts around 3:57, sounds great, and the wind effects that you have going along with it compliment it nicely. The outro leaves a nice lasting impression, which is definitely a good thing. I don't have many complaints regarding this song. I think there was a part around 2:53 that had a kind of dissonant sounding ring. It's faint, but it kind of detracts from the mellow mood of the song in my opinion. That being said, I really like your take on the song. I don't know if it will get accepted or not, but there's only one way to find out. Good luck!
  16. absolutely brilliant, I suddenly forgot about everything I was doing when I heard it, it really took me away from reality, the title is good too
  17. O RLY? Honestly though...I think that Final Fantasy IV had the all time hardest bosses, almost every boss in that game was impossible, and they just kept getting harder and harder after that.
  18. The first time I heard this mix was very late in the night, and for some reason I thought that it lacked excitement and that it was repetetive. After about a week, I was bored and decided to listen to it again, and I have no idea how I could have ever been displeased with this remix. The production is simply amazing, and the vocals are sung extremely well, there are so many tiny things in this mix that make it go above and beyond, like the chimes. While it's not one of my absolute favorites, it definitely deserves a look.
  19. This is by FAR one of the best attempts at molding orchestral with electronic, and it works better than any other attempt that I've heard on this site so far. I agree with some of the other posters here who said that you guys should collab more often, it would definitely have good results.
  20. This is great, I love the ambience, this song really reminds me of "ballet for a blue whale" by Adrian Belew. The heart beat at the end of the song made me think of "Dark Side of the Moon". I can't say that I've heard anything like this on the site, and that's definitely a good thing, it's very original in it's own way. The last remix I heard that had zyko's work in it was "Invertebrate Retreat" and that was brilliant, yet, completely different than this song, almost an exact opposite. Very interesting experimental piece. My only complaint is that there was noticable hiss throughout the song, other than that, it's very good. 7.5/10
  21. This is by far one of my favorite CotMM remixes. The monologue makes me shiver everytime I hear it. It's just so emotional, the entire song conveys the feeling of obsession and stalking. It's just brilliant on every level. I love the choice of sounds too. That lead synth, it kind of sounds bubbly, but distorted, definitely something that took a lot of time to craft. (not a 3x3 Osc preset in flstudio) The whole song, is just haunting, whenever this plays, I just stop everything I'm doing, absorbed into the song, it's just amazing, through and through one of the best remixes on the site, and I know I say that about a lot of the remixes on the site, but this is just brilliant. 12/10
