  1. There was a big debate on chiptunes. Read more here, and that might help clarify what's up with that. Also, to stay slightly on topic. It takes guts to admit you're wrong. Good for you to stand up and do it.
  2. Really awesome funkness here. Don't know the source, but I can tell this is a great adaption. Really makes me think of Wario, too. Great work.
  3. Very pretty, and very relaxing. Not really a groove, IMO, but I enjoyed listening to this. Nice music to correct homework too. Ending is a little sudden, and almost random. Other than that, nice work.
  4. I think this review says it all. But anyways. Nice mix, I've had this on my playlist for a while. I really had to go back to the source to remember what I should be listening for. After that I didn't have much of a problem identifying the source, but I feel like it's placed a little too much into the background. It seems like it's almost an afterthought for most of the mix. Aside from that I like it.
  5. While never having played Deadly Towers myself, I've seen and heard the music enough to recognize both the tracks used. Very nice adaptation, and while not too far from the source, this piece has it's own style that makes it unique. Mazedude does a good job personalizing this track, and I agree with OA's comment about dynamic changes, though it stands good as it is. Good job by Mazedude, outside of his normal realm, no less.
  6. Nice, chill remix. I feel like I'm on the beach at sunset with a martini. Actually, I wish I were on a beach at sunset, but this will have to do. Everything flows nicely together, and the synth choices were well thought out. Kudos to Hemo and Analoq for this one.
  7. Another good example of why not knowing the game shouldn't hold someone back from checking out a mix. Very nice orchestral mix with a jazzy, Gershwin feel. Not knowing the original definately didn't stop me from enjoying this. It's obvious that Nixdorux took the time to make sure the instruments were well 'played.' Instruments don't sound totally real, but they sound convincing, which really helps make the mix. Transitions are pretty good, nothing felt overly forced. Nice, enjoyable mix. More people should check it out.
  8. I feel like there's more going on in this mix thatn I'm seeing at first. Oddly enough, I have to say I like what's going on here. It's quirky, and the delay is strange, but it all just works out for me. Very strange, strangely cool.
  9. The opening had me worried. Once it starts to add more instruments and melody, it improves, but overall I can't say I'm a fan. More development would have made a big difference for me. It's short, and overall just feels too empty.
  10. Not the most hardcore mix out there, but it's got some good stuff going for it. Definately think it's worth a listen, and I plan on keeping it. For a first accepted mix at this time, it's pretty decent work.
  11. I enjoyed listening to this. The beginning feels very 'underwater' to me, with the atmosphere and the use of the echoey synth. About halfway through we start to groove, which is a little sudden, but sets up a good feel. The synth for the solo is a bit grating, not crazy about it. Nice solo though, good contrast to the melody. Good work, worth a listen.
  12. I was never a fan of Frogger, possibly because I was awful at it. Overall a happy little mix that deserves a listen. Drumwork is pretty good throughout. Definately an enjoyable listen.
  13. Real groovin' background, nice work on that. I can see what others think on the lead synth, but it doesn't bother me too much. The "Get Ready"s bug me though. I like the modifications on everything, makes a nice 'spacey' feel. Nice work.
  14. Trumpet sound really hurts the beginning. Otherwise it's a nice set up for the second half. Second half is pretty sweet. The problem I have with the mix is that aside from what sounds like two runthroughs of the melody, there's nothing else except for a 30 second outro that is a bit strange. More development and this piece would have been really nice. Not too bad, overall.
  15. I could see this going lots of different places, but as it is...not so much. More than a few notes that don't fit, strange sounding (not in a good way), and possibly the most ubrupt ending I've heard so far on this site.
  16. Great flavor to the mix, although I feel like it doesn't really end up anywhere. Sounds dated, and it is, so that makes sense. some of the more improvy sections feel lost in a directional sense, but that sounds that it's more from the original than DJP's doing, so I won't fault there. Not the most memorable mix, but decent overall. Good to see how much he's improved since then, though.
  17. Don't know the original, but apparently I'm pretty much listening to it. Sounds like it could be in a NES/SNES game, and sounds like little samples of each track to boot. What the heck fades? Sorry, but no thanks.
  18. Reflective is a great way to describe this piece. Loved the calm feel throughout. I heard the Pocohantus feel right away, being familiar with that soundtrack and not with EB's. Great work as always from Dshu.
  19. Definately hear the LOTR referrence. I don't know the source, but this is a cute little melody that fits very well with the alberti bassline. Sounds are a bit fake for me, but overall it doesn't detract too much from the piece as a whole. Nice work.
  20. The title is awful, in a good way. Very cute piece, definatly makes me think of Charlie Brown. Wish the recording was better quality, but it has charms of it's own as is. My qualm with it is that the two little chromatic sections seem out of place. I feel like if you had done more with those two tiny sections it would have been fine, but as it is there isn't enough for it to really 'fit in.' Worth the download.
  21. Among everything, the melody that starts before 2:00 is my favorite part. The feel is totally different than the original, and I love how that was done. Overall, the melodies themselves aren't changed, but the textures and everything else create a totally new feel for the tracks. That's the charm of this mix. I think the mix is very well done. Great job.
  22. I need to beat this. It's on my to-do list. Which is long. What was the pre-order item, btw?
  23. The transitions really help make this piece. Anso does a great job of incorporeating themes in a new was, which is commendable. Nice stylistic choices, and again, the transitions of style really are well done and smooth. The move into Jenova really shows this point. I enjoyed this piece. Maybe not my favorite FF7 mix, but I can tell a lot of work was put into, and that helps me appreciate it.
