> ReMixer name: HeavenWraith > Real name: Antanas Palaitis > Website: N/A > Forum userID: N/A Submission Information > Game: Castlevania II: Simon's Quest > ReMix Name: Stellar Eyedrops > Original Name: Bloody Tears This piece is the second ReMix I've ever done (the first being the remix of "Mystogan's Theme" from Fairy Tail, but it sucks, so who cares). Previously I've been composing soundtracks for movies, made by my friends, so this remixing business is new to me, but somehow "Stellar Eyedrops" turned out pretty well, so I decided to give OCR a shot. The list of my inspirations is quite a long one, so I'll just highlight the most influent ones: *Black Mages* This is pretty much the kind of sound I've been aiming for. The use of rock/drawbar organ and backing string ensemble and certain guitar solo/riff techniques in "Stellar Eyedrops" was greatly inspired by this band. *Takanashi Yasuharu* For my ears, this music is a representation of "perfectly mastered". *Sekito Tsuyoshi* When I needed ideas for symphony and metal fusion, I could always trust Sekito's "The Last Remnant" soundtrack to inspire me. If anyone is curious, this piece was recorded using a MIDI keyboard, an electric guitar with physical and digital (VST) distortion effects and a drum sequencer.

ReMixer Name: Amphibious Real Name: Jordan Michael Reed Website: amphibious.bandcamp.com ID: 44489 ReMixer Name: C7 Real Name: Adam Prack Website: www.adamprack.com ID: 10897 Games Arranged: Mega Man 3, Mega Man 8 Name of Arrangement: Shadow's Lounge Songs Arranged: Shadown Man Stage (MM3), Wily Stage 2 (MM8) Additional Comments: Amphibious: As far as remixing goes, I really didn't have much experience under my belt before the Wily Castle Remix Gauntlet. I posted in the thread looking for a team, and eventually me, C7, and Zerothemaster teamed up. I didn't really know either of them, but we needed a team of 3 and they seemed like cool guys (and I was right!). This mix was from the second round I was part of, and having always loved jazzy mixes (Joshua Morse being a personal favourite) I decided I'd try my hand at something of the sort. I was thankful that C7 ended up on my team, because he offered his trumpet playin services which turned out to be perfect for the genre I was going for. In the end I tried a lot of new things in this mix, and a lot of people have expressed their interest in my submitting it, so here I am after a little fine tuning. Everyone's support, both during the competition and afterwards, has been greatly appreciated! C7: It was fun and I'd love to provide trumpet for whoever (time permitting, of course). Your track made me more of a fan of chill mixes in general. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzDbrHUmonk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuYG5qOsDGU

Name: Arceace Real name: Ben Clifton Email address: Game: Sonic 4, and Sonic CD (Japan version) Title: A New Adventure Original tracks: Splash Hill Zone, Collision Chaos Zone Splash Hill Zone: Collision Chaos Zone: source Comments: This was my entry for round 1 of the Sonic Zone Remix Competition. Unfortunately I didn’t get any farther since I was up against halc, but it was still a really fun experience. I came up with this entire remix in about four days, which is a personal record for me. Though I like how it turned out, it was no match for halc’s submission, which in my opinion was the best in the whole round. The only goal that I had in mind while making this was to capture the feeling of energy and excitement for a brand new adventure, which is where the name of the song came from. Special thanks to SuperiorX for hosting the competition and giving me the opportunity to participate. I also appreciate the efforts and feedback of everyone else in the competition. They were the ones that made it such an awesome experience, and I look forward to next time. Enjoy! -Arceace

Hello fellas, I'm really excited to cover this game because it brings back a lot of memories.. Naoki Kodaka is like a legend in my opinion, what he did on numerous titles was always melodicaly driven and epic . So, when I browsed trought the overclocked list, I couldn't believe that there was not a single remix about this game. C'mon guys ! the whole soundtrack is awesome!! I had to settle for just two songs because of lenght limitations, but I would've cover them all if I could. So it's a downbeat/symphonic version of the two themes featuring the batmobile at 1:28 to bidge them together. Here's the breakdown : 0:00-1:43 Prologue 1:44-4:53 Flugelheim Museum I altered the structure a bit.. especially for flugelheim, but the main melody is always present so I hope it's ok for the judges. After 2:33 I stick with that section until the end because it felt more engaging and easy to built up the climax with this melody. So, here it is, I'm really happy to pay my respect to an epic composer and I hope you guys will like it! you have some good ideas, but the issue is twofold: First OCR is not run like a business. It is basically Dave's personal site with a lot of people helping him out. Having an 8 month backlog of scheduled stuff to post would be *amazing*, but the reality is that to get to that point, we'd need to take 8 months to get there, and that would fall solely on Dave's shoulders, since the bottleneck is his ability to post. With him dealing with the OCR redesign and a lengthy discussion with a certain game company, as well as a full time job and other responsibilities, the time just doesn't exist. The other staff ranges from 'second-job-busting-their-ass' levels of time commitment to '15-minutes-of-work-every-4-months'.

OCR02649 - *YES* Mega Man 2 & 6 'The Root of All Things'
OceansAndrew replied to DragonAvenger's topic in Judges Decisions
Close vote, but overall i feel the arrangement is strong enough to pass despite the production issues. I do feel that the overall production is definitely moving in the right direction and I think that with additional work, it'll match the quality of the arrangement. I am tipping this in favor of the mix; Keep working on improving though! -
*NO* Mario Kart 64 'Rainbow Road Procession'
OceansAndrew replied to DragonAvenger's topic in Judges Decisions
I agree that this has the foundation to being really nice, but right now it feels very lifeless and needs a good dose of energy. I think it's all in the dynamic sequencing. The arrangement ideas itself I thought were very nice. No, please resubmit -
*NO* Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross 'Darko Trigger'
OceansAndrew replied to DragonAvenger's topic in Judges Decisions
Not much to add to what the other judges have said besides some of the flute notes in the middle ending up on weird pitches and bends that sounds like they aren't quite getting there. There were some really nice moments in this mix, flashes of brilliance, but the transitions and other parts overall brought the mix down. I think a resub and tuning would do this well, keep at it. No, please resubmit -
Hello again, OCR! After countless of sleepless nights, we've decided to act our ages and tackle a game (soundtrack... haha, I've yet to beat Corpse Party actually) that we've been wanting to do for the last five months or so! xD This game is really something else for a PSP game and it's rather basic tile-based gameplay. But the story, characters, setting, atmosphere and just absolutely gruesome writing make it absolutely, gutwrenchingly painful to play through. Especially when you hit a bad ending. But the music really hit all the right notes, all the time. I've always doubted our ability to actually pay tribute to it, but if you never try you'll never know. And with that in mind, we gave it our best! Details: Your ReMixer name: Digital Element a.k.a. DigiE. Your real names: Maurice Willems & Sanjay Sampatsing. Your email address: Your User ID: 2761 Additional details: Name of game(s) arranged: Corpse Party (PSP). Name of individual song(s) arranged (Main remix) Trailer Theme/Main Theme-- ( ) ((I have no idea what the theme is officially called, but I'm pretty sure it's also the main theme of the game/series)) Chapter 1- MAIN BGM-- ( ) (The string melody mostly)PC-98 Version of Corpse Party: Final Boss Theme-- ( ) (You can see why we had to do what we did for this part, haha.)Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind it, how it was made, etc. It was refreshing to actually play a game that settled itself into my brain again, even though it was very disturbing given what happens or can happen to characters in the game, and the music definitely helped the cause. It had it's upbeat moments, terrifying moments and outright explicit-words-are-required moments that really helped bring the atmosphere and/or tension up even more. It's amazing to try and remix a song in such an upbeat fashion like this, and I'm really happy we were able to at least give it our best we've ever have for a remix. All in all it's been really fun working on this, I hope our excitement for the game and it's music come across as well as I hope. There's also a few homages to other games in there, but this time they're not very well hidden at all, haha. I hope you guys enjoy it! <3 Remix Name: Heavenly Horrors. Regards, DigiE.

it's the ridiculously intense adrenaline/endorphin rush we get straight to our brains. It's a super rush.

When looking through the source tracks, it was suprising to see that "Outside Shredder's Hideout" hadn't already been claimed. Its a ridiculously fast track but I could definitely hear the potential of realising this is a heavy rock tune. The most arduous thing with arranging this was working out the lead lines as the source was so damn fast but hey, that's what time stretch is for right?! Would just like to say a thank you to Mr. OA for providing me with some kickass drum samples. The drums lacked punch, so by layering the samples OA provided with some of the existing ones I really really hope they have that KO you like to hear from a drum track. Definitely found the production on this one a challenge as its pretty packed, but regardless I'm really happy with the result. I hope Kyle is too. Thanks for taking the time to listen! ReMixer - ManTan - SuperGuitarBros Douglas Lida Ninja Gaiden II (Nes) I'm A Ninja Bitch Ninja Gaiden II 2-2 Original This has been my favorite NG Song for the longest time, but NOONE covered it, until I found SuperGuitarBros. Within their medley I heard something very familiar, but, in a slower more melodic tone, and THERE IT WAS ZAW! Enjoy.

also, reaaaaaly disappointed that Dave didn't quote Mattias's vote in the writeup. XD -
Super congrats to you, it is 90% fun being a dad, which i guess is a pretty sure bet, all things considered!

This is super charming. The arrangement stays pretty close to the original early on, but about 2/5 through the chords really begin to deviate in fun and interesting ways, giving a lot of new color to the familiar aspects of the piece. The performances were very nice, and the sound effects used were tasteful and appropriate. Production is a bit lofi, but it wourks with the live and warm feeling. I enjoyed this one quite a bit! Yes

The leads sounded a bit ahead of the bass and the beat overall, and the rest of the performances sounded fine, if a bit plain. The arrangement concept is good, but I think the execution is a bit too repetitive, and the beat gets stale fast. Adding some fills and mixing up the beat would do a lot for keeping the song sounding fresh. The rhythm guitars are blocked out in a simple powerchord whole note progression which could have been made a lot more exciting with some extra rhythm; have them play along with the drums for some parts, or double the bassline. Overall this is a good foundation, but a lot of details and interest needs to be added. The idea of the slow build to the end was a good idea, but the drums should have built too, for more excitement. I hope you keep working on this one!
