  1. It wasn't a game so much as a series. I was hunting for various music from Legend of Zelda pretty regularly. My friend knew that, and took the liberty of making me a mix CD. Most of it was hip hop stuff that he thought I'd like, but one of them was hyrulecastledarkworld by Po!. The tag happened to read ocremix.org. Now I didn't give it much thought for a while, but when I got around to checking out where this song had come from, I found this place. I've been here ever since. And since then LoZ has really held me here too because there are a lot of good remixes from the series.
  2. Happy Birthday Hemo! Hope you're having a good one.
  3. So pissed about Raziel turning into the sword... He was way friggin cooler than Kain.
  4. It was more of an "OH SHII...." moment, but then I kind of knew it was coming. If anything, I understood it better after Cloud went through the whole existential break down and I figured out why he kept tweaking.
  5. Ballos from Cave Story sucks. I beat him...eventually. Let me tell you how... To start off with all your guns get powered down to level one. (Your guns get three levels, each more powerful than the last). This is on top of the fact that you just got done fighting the three final bosses and so all you get is whatever health and ammmo you salvaged after the fight. Next, you have to get through the level with a time limit ticking. Of course, the time limit is simply to record how good you are, thankfully. And if, at any point in the mini level (and it's deadly and looongg) you die, you start all the way back at the beginning again. This includes during the boss battle. Save points and mid-level regens points are apparently for pansies. So you make it to Ballos. There he is standing in all his pimptastic glory. He starts to attack, and right off the bat he's got some powerful moves. Nothing too hard to handle, but still powerful. I beat him in my first go-round (this was after at least 20 attempts to get to that point though). I sit back to relax, when he transforms to his second form. And before I can even figure out how to hurt him in this giant spherical form (and giant means you can't even see all of him on the screen) he lands on me and one shot kills my ass. Not one to give up, I go through the level a few more times, and figure out you have to shoot the eyes. Easier said than done. Because as he's bouncing around, you have to find a way to jet yourself up to his level, shoot him in the eyes, and avoid the numerous smaller enemies jetting across the top of the level. They say that to fight a cheap boss one must use cheap tactics. And indeed I did. I leveled up the one gun that allows you to "fly" (it has enough force when shot at the ground to propel you up, and with proper rationing of shots, will hold you there indefinitely). So now I'm flying around at the very top of the leave, just above the bats, and it takes about thirty minutes of agonizingly short targetable periods before I kill the fucker again. I sit back to rest on my laurels, not even thinking there'd be a third form. But sure enough. And in about three seconds, he's up on the fucking ceiling with me and one shots me again. It took me at least three days to calm down enough to try it yet again. At last I discovered that I could hide in the corner to avoid his ceiling sweeps. It took as long to kill that third form as it did the second. And jokingly, I mentioned to a friend while I was playing that the worst thing that could happen would be that it had a fourth form. It did. Fortunately, it proved to be the easiest and I finally beat it with no real troubles... One of the few bosses that has truely challenged me in terms of time, energy, anger, and key holding durability. (and as a final note, I hear that there are some people that can do the entire thing in ten minutes...)
  6. I'd vote Kingdom Hearts 2, if only to see what it is you have in mind and to see the game make it onto the listing. Edit: You already made the most kick ass KH 1 remix...
  7. Same here. Nothing worth submitting just yet though.
  8. I named mine Zippy once, but that was a long time ago in comparison to the one it was replacing. Now I just call it slow.
  9. This is a great start. I really like the buildup in the beginning, and I love that you have this song nailed in terms of the way it should sound. It's traditional, but at the same time it has its got it's own character. I have to agree with the above statements though that it needs to have something more in the background. The drums I really wanted to hear a little more of, they are really quiet and not well emphasized. I also have to say that as it stands right now, the main chorus at :35 is too high pitched and goes against the feel of the rest of the song. It should be toned down a little to give it a heavier feel, which would match the background guitar better. Between three musicians, that's the best I've got. Hope it helps.
  10. Well, thanks to this whole idea, I spent a couple of hours getting a decent recording setup for my drum set (It's digital, get to that in a second). So if you need another drummer I can do that too. I play the drums better than the bass anyways. There is one problem, and that is that the only drum set I have is a "digital" drum set. That is to say that it's not actually drums but drum pads that produce the same effect. They are limited in some capacities, but for the most part I find them to be of pretty decent quality for the basic and intermediate stuff.
  11. I agree that an original story would probably go over better than one specific to the site. As much as I would love to see a super nerdy Rock Opera, it'd still be...super nerdy. Read through the log, and I really like the ideas so far, but I wonder about the ending being so abrupt. Maybe he could ascend and become one of the wise men at the end?
  12. Well, I'm not spectacular on the bass, but I can always put in the offer. This sounds really awesome though, can't wait to see what it turns into. Edit: It's a four string acoustic, but I know someone who plays five string electric. I'll see what I can do about getting him to contribute.
  13. It's good to hear that a remix of one of the best songs in MM finally made into OCR. And on top of that, a really awesome mix that I cannot find a single fault with. "i don't know if anybody caught this but they used this song as a sort of intro thing for Nintendo's Zelda DS demo at E3" That is friggin amazing. Good job GSlicer.
  14. Yep, that's too true After reading the unmod quirks thing on the coop's site, I got the impression that the war had cooled down to a mild battle. Guess not. It's like watching a little slice of history being re-hashed.
  15. I downloaded this mix after a long drought of not being able to download any mixes. First off, I've got to say that I really like the music itself. It's got a great flair and the perfect instrument set for the sound that the original BGM tried to convey. It kind of reminds me of the some of the Timesplitters songs, which I also like a lot. That being said, I've got to say that the lyrics were not quite as impressive. It's got a lot of good lines ("Oil and Water don't mix", "Open the floodgates", "Oh my lord, what'cha gonna say next?"). But for all the good lines, there were also some that I thought were kind of cheesy ("But I guess you don't think", "lie more so", "everything you do comes back always"). Despite the lyrical content troubles, I really like listening to the song anyways and it's almost always on my playlist. I'd love to hear more from these guys. One last thing, that sproing sound at 2:43 makes me chuckle every time I hear it.
  16. Fuck yeah it is. I just damn near choked on my drink when i read that too.
  17. Of course now they are gone and I didn't even get to see them. Damn this slow internet..damn it all to hell.
  18. That was almost, but not entirely, unlike what they were talking about at all. Damn amusing though, and decently written.
  19. Well, it personally doesn't make a lot of sense to me that they say KFC is breaking any bones on thier chickens, given the fact that we eat chicken legs and wings from KFC all the time. They don't look broken to me. I could give a shit less about PETA, although myself i hate to see animals suffer. I also could care less, and pardon me if this sounds cruel, how happy the chickens are prior to being slaughtered so I can eat their parts. These are not going to be chickens raised on sunlight and rainbows, they are a food source. As for Nintendo taking legal action, i think it would be highly warranted but probably unlikely. It's true that PETA is using the Mario bros in a very unbecoming manner, and featuring them in a game that may not agree with the views of Mr. Miyamoto and Co. Examples such as them being beaten up by PETA members also make a strong case against this game continuing to be displayed. But, I don't think Nintendo will do much as we are talking about the internet here. What is gone from one site one day will simply re-surface on another site later that day. I got to the fourth level, and thought the game is amazingly well put together (for being what it is, mind you), it just seemed so damn boring after a while. That too and what the hell does a jungle have anything to do with KFC?
  20. Okay then. In all seriousness though, that is one weird concept. I'd go with it, but only if at some point he stands silhouetted in a doorway and says "It's a-me" in a serious manner.
  21. Boulder Dash (One of my favorite head scratchers of all time) The first FF (if you want to smash your head through a wall on account of horrid AI) Star Tropics (One is better than two, both rock) Zelda 2 should only be played if Zelda one has been beaten. I despise the game, but on it's own merits It's not too bad. Trog (Another one of those old games I played for ten minutes as a kid and loved) Donkey Kong (Because it's short and sweet, and still awesome to this day) I use FCE Ultra myself, and I've never had a problem with it.
  22. Looks like I'm out too, given that I haven't heard anything from Nicolas for the last two days. Sorry guys, would have brought my PS2. Next time I'll take a goddamn plane.
  23. Money? yes place to stay? no And it being less than a week 'til, it'd be too damn frustrating for me to find an alternate route. I'm waiting on hearing from Nicholas at the moment. Sans his carpool, or any other for that matter, I'm SOL for this one.
