You can get a video card that'll do the job for ~$100, more or less. However, PC games do tend to have a ton of problems, from hardware standards to copy protection. The industry keeps managing to shoot itself in the foot, despite the hardware getting quite cheaper than 5 years ago.
Personally, from Steam to rootkits to Securom, all these things really keep me away from the industry more than almost anything else. In addition, the keyboard & mouse isn't healthy for hardcore gaming since stuff like carpal tunnel syndrome just becomes too big of a setback with a non-ergonomic setup.
I'm more than willing to shell out for a rig, but unfortunately the industry just doesn't want to market itself right.

I'd be down - I anticipated that the MAGFest experience would be completely different with the hotel room issue, and was super frustrated by the hotel booking process/expense (it's bad that 6 nights in central London was cheaper than 3 nights at the Gaylord...), so I rage quit going essentially...plus getting a lot of pile on vitriol by MAGFest staffers when I tried to suggest options to improve the process based on basically every other event I participate/attempt to participate in that have the exact same issues but solve them in a reasonable fashion several months before the atrocious booking process was announced.
IMO such a meetup shouldn't be tethered to a con, and should probably rotate locations so as to give a better chance of others in the community to join in, as well as give fresh sights/stuff to do. I also recommend being flexible with dates since ideally we could pick dates that work best for the community/aren't as expensive to travel on.
I'd definitely be up for helping out covering some costs & would be willing to fly out to such an event.

a reminder - make your 'list' of stuff unique and fun! it's cool to just get whatever you say you want, but it's more cool to say a bunch of weird stuff and then get something really interesting or fun or unique or creative. i gave flexstyle a vinyl album, some artisan hot chocolate, and cans of a hard-to-find soda last year. not much gaming but still a fun thing to do. i'd never have done that if he hadn't had crazy stuff on his wishlist =)

This is pretty much an insta-fave from the Heroes vs. Villains album - WillRock blows this out of the water. It's snazzy in a way that oozes of confidence and an attitude of can't handle this. This mix manages to maintain that high octane impression and never lets go throughout, and even the one brief pause leads to an even bigger build up. Definitely one of the best mixes on the site for 2011!

After a couple of years of mostly absence, I return to finish this good work up! This was started originally with the aim of getting it out in time for the 20th anniversary of Secret of Mana, but it came and went, and real life kept me too busy.

Man... looking at this, I'm shocked that The Final Decisive Battle (AKA The Last Duel, which is what I prefer to call it) isn't taken.  It's an iconic piece of music and I can't imagine a Lufia 2 album without it.
I've got a pretty full plate already, but a chance to remix one of my favorite tracks of all time is too good to pass up.  I talked to Swiggles (guitar player) and if you'd like, we can take this track.

I'm an asshole because Winter has been "done" for so long and you've never even heard a WIP, you probably won't even like it, after all this time. It's pretty happy sounding from what I remember.
All it has needed was acoustic guitars (though at this point I will probably redo the bass guitar too, just so it's current)
And I actually had started writing on Rumbling way back when, but it was so small that I may as well start from scratch. At any rate anything I make for you now will be better just due to being more familiar with stuff as time goes on. 

Wes, I have a confirmed collab with Jeff Ball (violin), Abi Coffer (flute/piccolo), Doug Perry (marimba) and Wilbert Roget (recorder) for "Little Sprite".

@evktalo: shooting for six 2 month check-ins currently, dates haven't been formalized yet, but expect them sometime next week.
@Odai: We had an artist on the project already, but I think we may need another since this is a Square game (which means we need lots of custom artwork).

I dropped "I Closed My Eyes" and "A Conclusion" I believe it was because I knew someone else would be able to claim them and deliver on them good before I could.. I was going to focus on Lufia 2 and get those songs done first! But if there's anything left that appeals to me here when I'm able to tackle one, I will be back on board! I'm excited to see what Dan does with "I Closed My Eyes"
