I've been following Navi's solo career closely and find him, as a lyricist and a rapper, to be on-par with a lot of underground rap that I partake in regularly As a fan of the genre, I love seeing remixes like this where lyrics take precedence... creative wordplay, slick flow... what's not to love? Good work man

Hah, no kidding. This mix is really pristine and not overly-busy or crazy at all. Great for chillout music with a bit of a kick to it (pun intended) and though it doesn't really get as crazy with processing, sfx, or arrangement as I've come to expect from Drew, this is still a really quaint arrangement that'll pop up every once and a while on my playlist and put a nice smile on my face.

This really deserves its own post: This mix was pretty much begging to be mashed up with Michael Jackson, and sure enough it happened So cool!

Needs them drums yo! I feel like that would have really taken this to new heights, but perhaps that's not the direction you were going for. I digress, this is still a great chillout jam and I'm particularly impressed by the sax performance (but what else is new with Brad? At this point I've pretty much come to expect his sax playing to be drop-dead amazing.) Very good album closer!

Hahaha, love the title here You guys really did a good job of bringing out the melody from the original and doing a lot of expansive work on it without ever losing sight of what you were remixing. The glitchy breakdown at the end rocks too Grats to Bryan/Kater/Insixfour on your debut mix, and grats to Drew on another one for the books!!

Pretty classic tweek material here, it accomplishes pretty much everything it sets out to do; craft a moody, ambient, and cold atmosphere and give the source a bit of energy. There's a constant sense of motion in here with the gated synths and Brian's very recognizable percussion style, but it doesn't ever feel like it's going too fast for my tastes. Highly recommended, every part of this remix really comes together perfectly to form a beautiful and haunting atmosphere.

How's it feel to finally get another mixpost after 6 years, Jason? This track is really incredible, it tackles the ambient feel of the original but beefing it up tenfold with pristine bells and percussive sounds, and some very cool acoustic drumkit work that you wouldn't necessarily think would work as good as it has. I feel like the arrangement does drag on for a little longer than it needs to, but it's great for ambient listening and such. Congrats on the mixpost; to everyone reading, rest assured that this isn't the last you'll hear from Theophany in the near future, he's got some absolutely stunning stuff coming down the pipeline!

I love how much the opening string progression reminds me of the old Jungle theme from DKC, that gives this one a nostalgic quality to me, even if it's unintentional. The rest of the track is really solid as well, in fact I'd venture to say this is one of chth-- err, Ben's best tracks yet. While it might be one of the outlier tracks on Threshold of a Dream, it's one of the best "singles" off the album and does great justice to Tal Tal Heights.

Holy bajeezus, this is a stellar performance. Very expansive, very interpretive, and plain beautiful. I have no critiques of this, I'd say submit it whenever you're ready and you think it's polished enough, but I can tell you right now that this level of performance quality is pretty much an automatic pass, as long as there's enough source usage in the mix (I don't have time to check right now for sure, so I'll trust you on that one.) Good work man.

So wait, just so I'm sure, are you dropping the song from the bonus disc entirely or do you just want your revised version to be OCR-exclusive? So, Level 99 is finished with his track!! Didn't know Level 99 was doing a remix? Well, he is... as of last Friday. This is definitely one of the fastest claim-to-completion streaks so far on the project. He threw together a wonderfully quaint acoustic mix of Treetop Tumble with a bunch of classic DKC themes mixed in there that'll inject a healthy dose of nostalgia into the project. Stellar work bud

And oooooohhhhhh myyy goood they are so good. Wound Carved Upon the Heart in particular is absolutely groundbreaking music for OCR, I can't wait til you can all hear it

If you guys like this, you should hear what Guifrog's been churning out with his improved production setup It's gonna blow your minds. That said, this is still a very appropriate take on DKR's source material that plays it safe but still finds ways to keep things interesting (percussion soloing in the middle is definitely a highlight.) Good on you for giving this soundtrack some love I love Guifrog's approach to remixing, tackling music from different ethnic regions one by one, I'm really looking forward to more from him.

I'm still pissed that you won't put this on The Sound of Speed, even as a bonus track. Ben's mix is really, really good, but I feel like this one works better on a conceptual level with the way you worked in sound effects and changed up the groove halfway through. I really am a sucker for mixes that work on a concept that fits the game it came from and this is one of the best-executed examples of this I can find on OCR. This is still one of my favorite mixes from you Drew after the 42-ish songs I've heard from you. Love every second of it

I get the feeling that, if he continues at this rate, PrototypeRaptor will be one of the most prolific electronic mixers to ever hit the site, right up there with bLiNd and Zircon. He's already touched on so many subgenres of electronica and always does each without ever holding punches. Funky and infectious, this one deserves every ounce of love it's getting! This is just about all I could possibly ask for in a remix of this theme, which I hold very dear to my heart. It's very meaningful, elegant, and, for lack of more appropriate adjectives, fucking beautiful. You manage to squeeze the most out of those sampled instruments (though I'm not really loving the tone of the pad at times) and ultimately craft an arrangement that's so relaxing that you tend to ignore any potential flaws that could be found. Not much more to be said here, this is one of the best Yoshi's Island arrangements around!

True story, I was at a friend's dorm listening to this song on speakers while me and said friend ran through Donkey Kong Country 3, and out of nowhere, his Mandarin-speaking roommate popped out and practically shouted "WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AND WHY CAN I UNDERSTAND IT?" We then proceeded to have him translate the song for us I guess that's a good reaction though? Great remix though, I definitely feel like Amy upped her singing game on this one. Still room for improvement but it definitely feels like a solid effort that works in context. Such a cheery take on what I always felt was a more thoughtful, slow-paced original. Not what I was expecting or even hoping for for this source, but I like what I hear.

Oh my god, yes. Just... yes. This is Sole Signal's best work yet by a wide margin (which is saying something because the rest of his body of work is similarly amazing) thanks to the way he so adeptly blends orchestral and electronic without ever missing a beat. A lot of this has to do with the perfect source he chose and how he adapted it to an arrangement that bounces back and forth between styles and different ways of fusing the two styles. Each part of the source seems perfectly suited for its role in the remix. Really, nothing feels out of place or weak here, it's all absolutely stellar, making for one of the most stunning and most enjoyable songs on the whole project. Kudos on this Greg, you've really outdone yourself this time!

It's great to see how you guys are improving your craft over time, I really think the GSO project is a wonderful idea and would like to see more groups like it popping up in the future. The arrangement here works and is a pretty enjoyable listen that's easy to get caught up in. Performances are pretty nice as well. Perhaps your arrangements could stand to be more ambitious but given that you guys are mainly non-music majors and doing this just out of pure love for VGM, I can't be too critical. It's great hearing the improvement over time as you guys submit new songs, you can only go up from here! Hopefully you'll be able to find a way to get better-quality recordings in the future though. At least a volume boost would be nice here... Again though, nothing that really stops it from being a good listen, but some advice for the future.

Pretty much the best thing to come out of The Fabled Warriors, in my opinion. While this isn't necessarily new turf for Andy, I do feel like this is one of the tracks on the album to offer something that sounded totally new in terms of sound design. Shreddage is pushed pretty far here and I think it works perfectly in context, and it works great with those screaming leads. Gritty, aggressive, fast and hard-hitting, this is what I like to hear from Zircon

This is one of those songs that manages to make me want to sit in deep, somber contemplation while simultaneously wanting to rock the hell out. This is definitely my favorite style of metal and it's one that, thankfully, you're extremely adept at bringing to the table. The orchestral elements work great as well, and the guitar tone is pretty much as good as it can possibly be. Altogether, a very cohesive package that I've got a hard time finding fault with. Definitely my favorite Neko mix here

Fuck yes man, this is what I love about your music. A lot of the feel and emotion of your music comes the flaws that are noticeably present, but somehow manages to actually improve the songs instead of detract from them. This is the perfect example of that. Will this be winning any awards for the most technically proficient vocal performance? Probably not, but damn if it isn't one of the best written, most enjoyable, and most heartfelt vocal mixes on the entire site. I hope you don't ever change that aspect of your music, it's what drew me to you at first and what continues to hold me as I hear each new song of yours. I'm glad I was able to play a small part in helping this reach more ears, it's an unequivocally brilliant performance and absolutely one of those songs that I'll always look back on with the utmost fondness.

It's shit like this, Josh. God, why are you so creative and awesome? It's making everyone else look bad Every remix from you feels like it's got 500% more effort put into it than most other remixers put into their own songs. Melinda's chorus vocals are SERIOUSLY infectious, I just caught myself tapping my toe and bobbing my head as I wrote this. All-around stupendous effort from everyone involved, here's to a lot more Poolside and Josh Whelchel on OCR!
