Ding ding ding! That's the main appeal of the Chrono Trigger Novel Project. Not only that, but many details are changed in order to make the plot make a little more sense (when you start to think about it, a number of things don't add up in the original game).

I was all set to buy a USB microphone (see thread on said subject) when I walked into a music store, and they pointed me in the direction of this thing, which seemed like a serious step up: I could plug whatever mic I wanted in, and then I gained the ability to record line in as well (from a buddy's guitar or bass). But since I research things carefully, I decided to take a look at what else might out there. It turns out there are a couple of better looking devices from Tascam itself, not to mention the competition. I want a quality build, quality sound and the ability to record multiple tracks simultaneously. And though I usually frown on purchasing hardware to control software when I've got a mouse, the features on the FireOne look useful and convenient. Any thoughts?

::shrug:: Wasn't necessarily trying to be the most explicit. Mostly the 2nd one, parts of the other two. And the fact that the series is so popular.

The idea of anything being unknown about Final Fantasy makes me LOL quite a lot.

Not if you're the son of Jecht.

I couldn't exactly tell from your post, but if this is your friend spinning the staff, he's got to come teach me some shit.

This came up in another thread so I figured I'd spin out my own thread here. Why is there a general stigma about the mere concept of fanfiction around here? The reason this surprises me most is because this is a site dedicated to a parallel endeavor, and I figured a site which is devoted to people reinterpreting video game music would be one of the last to sneer at reinterpreting video game plots and characters. Now I imagine most people just go LOL FF.NET and leave it at that. Fair enough... a lot of crap goes in there. But a lot of good stuff does too. I spent a lot of time there when I was younger, and it's definitely a crap shot as to what kind of a story you'll get when you click on something. But with a little work it's not hard to find the gems, or at least the authors who are making a serious effort (which is all anyone can ask for, really). Icybrian used to be the OCR of fanfiction, with a prominent figurehead who ran the site, along with a panel who evaluated every submitted story. But Brian essentially lost interest and now the only active part of the site is the forums. Those forums were my previous e-community before I left and came here. I didn't leave because I outgrew fanfiction, though. I left because they were assholes. This is exactly the kind of attitude I warned against and I don't think it helps anyone to maintain it.

Last off-topic post: I can actually good fanfiction. Here's something I wrote when I was eighteen. I was going to be a Creative Writing minor as well... The game is worth playing. Do it.

Oh man, oh man, oh man. You're looking at the bottom of the barrel right there. And that replaced a version that was even worse. But hey, I warned you. And the later stuff isn't bad. Not the most well-written, but not bad.

Find out for yourself.

Quoted in order to clarify.

Nickname by democracy does not sound like a good idea to me. A nickname is personal, something you control. It affects how you are seen across the entirety of OCR (and perhaps beyond). Besides, what's wrong with NeoS? It's best to keep your name consistent. I've had this one since I first registered for a site (fanfiction.net).

Sonic & The Black Knight coming for the Wii
The Pezman replied to JCvgluvr's topic in General Discussion
Believe it or not, I think that's what they tried to do with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. Heroes was just whatthefuck, and I lost my faith after that. But the Sonic Adventures were a serious attempt to bring Sonic into 3D, and personally I don't think they were bad. The mere fact that they tried innovation beyond running through a level was enough to interest me. Imagine if Sega had never gone 3D and instead churned out Sonic games that were like the previous ones. They'd be derided for same old, same old, never taking chances and trying new things. Unfortunately, they've hit the opposite extreme. -

DO WANT! Arrowned may be able to give me a ride as well to and from. -
I can see it now: Best tuxedoed, drunken OCR meetup ever. Falling headfirst into the wedding cake will only be a bonus. Congratulations. I may have submit a mix as a wedding gift for you.

Yeah, I'd choose a better metaphor. "Movies that make your testicles drop all over again" is what I'd say.

VGL Louisville Meetup - pics pg 22+
The Pezman replied to big giant circles's topic in General Discussion
Way way back at the DC VGL, I actually started up a conversation with him about a possible affiliation with OCR. He gave me his email and I told him I'd pass the info on. I made a thread and PMed DJP, but never got any response. -
You've obviously never seen Frank Miller's Batman.

Need guitar info. Lots and lots of guitar info...
The Pezman replied to Faustt's topic in Music Composition & Production
Makes me glad I don't play guitar or bass (and never will). Percussion, Piano, and softsynths all the way, baby! -
Hasn't this been a real convention in years past? How the hell do you have an online booth?

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6194777.html The article explains that GHWT instruments will have full compatibility with at least Rock Band 1, and vice versa. That's great, but not really what caught my eye. I'm pretty sure they meant MIDI digital input, but let me be the first to say: Holy shit! I was looking for a cheap electric drum set in order to practi... ...oh. I guess it's better than not having it at all, but what do they imagine the average consumer will do with MIDI and a set like that? Is it just to bang around and have a good time? Or are they banking on a kitcsh factor, with people using this set to perform actual shows (like I very likely would)? Somebody help me out here. And, incidentally, if anyone knows of a cheap electric drumset with a traditional MIDI output, let me know.

Reason 4 sucks, an unbiased review.
The Pezman replied to Siamey's topic in Music Composition & Production
Yeah, but check out how many Remixes (both here and abroad) are made with it, at least in part.
