  1. Zircon puts his pants on one leg at a time... and then makes gold remixes.
  2. For your goddamn three computers. I'm working on affording one.
  3. I wish this thing wasn't so damn expensive, because it looks cool and I want to try it. But I really want to know what programs Virt used to visualinate his MIDI like that. EDIT: NM, found it.
  4. What, and miss out on the possibility of more of those awkward shower moments?
  5. I'm probably in for both barbeques (given that I'm staying at Xerol's).
  6. I think we should for srs plan some songs we are definitely going to do (TYRANO LAIR METAL) so we can actually work on them in advance. It may sound kind of lame, but it will actually make our final product that much better. Tribute to Howard Drossin anyone?
  7. Here's another "name that tune": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ild1NevnhO0 I know this is a remix of something. What is it?
  8. I've never gotten ASIO4ALL to work the way it should.
  9. I think Parasite Eve 3 is a wonderful idea and am happy it's coming. I'm going to have to invest in a PSP and DS now... As for sequels for non-RPGs, I'm pretty sure SE has gone the way of niche marketing. There are plenty of other space shooters, and SE hasn't developed one in quite a while. Given that, I would be surprised if they developed such a title in-house and it didn't suck. RPGs are what they know and do. They can be counted on for that. Just like other companies can be counted on for space shooters.
  10. MAGPAX. you know you want it
  11. Just about any boss theme will do it to an extent. I do love them boss themes. In particular, FFs VII and VIII, Metroid Prime (Ridley), Devil May Cry (Phantom, Griffon), Sonic Adventure (Chaos 6) and Sonic Adventure 2 (GUN units) are favorites. I also like Disturbed, Metallica, Rage, Tool and Megadeth.
  12. Well, I wouldn't expect you to have your oldest project files. You could play the old song and go shtyjdgtfgt over the biggest production issues: these drums are too mechanical, the soundscape is very narrow, the synths are not clear at all, etc. Then, you point to the corresponding elements in your newer song. Odds are you have to apply a number of effects and a decent amount of compression (and I'm not entirely sure what compression is) to get it to sound the way you want it. How do you know you've got a quality sound at this point? These are the things I think you can do.
  13. Well I was gonna edit my last post, but apparently you stay up just as late as I do. This is true, you buy a Mac largely for Mac software. BUT... that doesn't mean you have to throw away the opportunities running Windows can afford you. I intend to maintain a Windows partition/virtualiztion not only for games and other exclusive software, but maybe I'll want to follow along with one of Zircon's vids sometime. Having the FL demo installed there (even if I never use it) allows me to keep my options options, in terms of exploring the different programs and making my own judgments and decisions about them.
  14. I know how effects work. You took my question about keyboards too literally; I meant whether these effects were meant for or made sense to use on keyboard sounds. I didn't realize it was software though. When Sixto compared it to a PODxt I assumed it was hardware.
  15. Really interesting to hear you come around to Mac so easily, Wes. I made a thread here about audio interfaces (read it!), and after research I've decided to go with the Duet. Of course, I'm going for a software-oriented, mobile solution. That's why I'll be getting the Macbook Pro with the Duet and a vocal mic. As those from MAGFest may remember, I already have a MIDI controller. Said Duet easily allows for any guitarist/bassist friends to record. As for monitors and room quality, I'll have to forgo those in the name of mobility. But otherwise I should be golden with this setup.
  16. Really? I don't see why that's necessary. Like I said, compare one of your newest songs to one of your oldest. Point out the differences, explain what they are and how they work, and then indicate the settings in your project which allow them to sound as good as they do.
  17. There's also an auction.
  18. Anything which helps to answer the aspects I suggested would be incredibly helpful. Not sure if you're catching them or not.
  19. What the hell, man? You can disagree with me, but there's no reason to put me down.
  20. Just like what Google did! ...or you could read their mission statement. They have to have some reason for going against Google. Personally, I like what they aim to achieve. On paper, anyway. As for the site itself, the search engine needs a fuckton of work, but I do enjoy the format in which searches are returned. Simple. Straightforward. Not too much unrelated text. Making use of the widescreen. It looks nice.
  21. So it's for keyboard too... do most of these sounds have software counterparts? I'm going for a software-oriented setup.
  22. Not hard to understand... just seemed unlikely after the scene before. Usually, if something like that happens, some kind of acknowledgment is given: "I couldn't save her... I went after her but it was Dent. Not her!" In fact, I think a line like that (more well written, though) would have been entirely appropriate and add further to Bruce's grief. The way it was just seemed pointless and confusing. Talk about something not being hard to understand, though; my mom completely misunderstood one of Batman's last lines: "I killed those people." She had no idea what he meant. Ah well. I was surprised she went to see it at all.
  23. Yeah, spoke with some GC employees about the Duet today. I didn't realize Apogee's A/D converters were so top-of-the-line.
