So, we have to back to Arkham...again? I don't know. Couldn't Rocksteady have let Batman loose in the entire city? Everything should be bigger and better in the sequels, so why not increase the the size of the environment? Give him his Batmobile, his Bat Jet, etc, etc. Seems like they're playing it too safe by just making another Arkham.

While I kind of wish he'd keep his slide, not giving Mega Man the ability to charge makes me happy. It gets really, really annoying to run all over the place and constantly hear, "wawawawaWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWA." He's been doing that since his very first game. >_>

no u I really wish game companies wouldn't tease us with such things, then fail to finish what they start. That's what personally bugs me about continuity stuff, no matter what story. So true, especially when is comes to the Zelda series. I'd give Nintendo a fortune in rupees if they'd just give us a canon timeline and sufficient explanations for a proper continuity. The speculation around it is quite annoying.

What's with all the Mega pr0n in this topic? I'd expect that stuff in gamefaqs, not here. I'm definitely excited for this release. I'd absolutely love it if Bass was the 3rd character, but I wouldn't be surprised if Roll ended up taking that place. *groan Maybe if we ask Capcom reaaaaaallllllllyyy nicely, they'll give us the timeline continuity we're looking for?

So, I've finally gotten through all campaigns. The only ones I don't like that much are Dead Center and Swamp Fever! As for the other 3: Dark Carnival has a very enjoyable atmosphere. I always loved going to those kinds of carnivals as a kid, and it's great to be able to run through a zombie-infested version now! And you can't forget those adorable clowns, or that kick-awesome show with the Midnight Riders! Hard Rain's storms actually creeped me out IRL. Any video game that gets me to feel another emotion besides "violence=fun" gets major props from me. Other reasons include the tortuously-fun amount of witches, and the battles at the elevator. Then there's the Parish. It's just plain exciting! I like being smack-dab in the middle of New Orleans. And that finale on the bridge, it's just so intense! If I absolutely HAD to chose one a favorite campaign, it'd be the Parish. But remember, it's really, really close between those 3!

"Point of No Return" influence for Sonic music?
JCvgluvr replied to zircon's topic in General Discussion
Wow, take away Expose's singer, and the song would be a perfect fit for any Sonic game on the Genesis! That's kind of funny. -
Don't be so sure. Just look at Wave Dashing in Melee. The developers openly admitted to knowing about it before Melee was ever released, and left it as-is on purpose. They claimed it was just another facet of the game. It's no stretch of the imagination to claim that they viewed chain grabs in Brawl in the same way. Not to mention, the Brawl team thought tripping was a good idea, remember? Ick. OT: Gaming sportsmanship is alive only in local multiplayer matches. That's a sad fact of life.

I found both games for $40 today at Gamestop. Merry Christmas to me!

Anybody know where I could find L4D2 and/or ODST for $40 after 10 a.m.?
-
It's coming on Xbox Arcade too, right? I'll try the demo, and see if it's any good.

"Hey, you graduated! Have this diploma to commemorate all the hard work you did and sacrifices you made." *Random hobo comes with a lighter and instantly lights your diploma. Fwoosh*

Just picked up the game for $10. Best use of $10 I've made in quite a while. Super Mario World is one of my top 10 favorite games ever, so since NSMBW takes a lot of elements from it, I couldn't be happier! I haven't heard Yoshi make that familiar "beepboo!" noise since Mariokart 64! Co-op gives me mixed feelings. Co-operating and competing at the same time is pretty fun, but it gets rough. It feels like it holds back the level design, especially in levels that use the Penguin Suit. Castles become way more difficult, and somebody always ends up dying due to someone else's poorly-timed jump. Half the time, my friends simply retreated into their bubbles, and let me get thru all the hard parts before coming out. It was so cheap! I'm almost surprised that Nintendo implemented such an exploitable feature into the game. But still, we played the game for about 4 hours straight, and I can't remember the last time we all did that with a Nintendo game, so kudos are necessary. Overall, an awesome game, and I am fully satisfied with my purchase.

So, is this an "A" type of sequel, or "B" type of sequel? By that, I mean: A) Very little is different. The game feels and plays mostly the same. It feels like L4D with new skins. It gets old much quicker than L4D1. The new characters, story and music feel different, and much worse in comparison. Substantial differences. The game feels and plays the same in some ways, and different in many ways. It feels like a true sequel, and Valve really did try their best in just one year of development time. The new characters, story and music feel different, but not worse than L4D1. If it's B, I'll be ecstatic!

Play Mariokart Wii, then tell me how "fair" you think games are.

My hype meter is is oozing past the limit at this point. I'm definitely grabbing this ASAP. How difficult is this game? Mario games have been notoriously easy, as of late. It would disappoint me if the same were true of this game.

Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews
JCvgluvr replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
A typical review. It was neither here nor there. -
Sigh. You have to buy games, purchase upgrades and additions for things like RAM, graphics cards and such, buy PC headsets, pay for any repairs should something happen to the PC, and etc. and etc. I suggest you remove the stick that is firmly crammed up your buttocks, I'm going back to the L4D2 discussion.
-
Granted. Sorry if I put anybody off due to lack of knowledge of my situation. Bleck, I could easily make a "nickel and diming" counter-argument for PCs. Every gaming company does it. It's called "business."
-
No thank you. I've gone 10 years playing FPSs strictly on consoles, so it's way too late for me to adapt to mouse + keyboard. Besides, I probably wouln't even want to. I'd probably just connect my 360 controller to my computer instead. True, but I barely care. I find PS3/360 graphics to be quite satisfactory. Well, guess what? It isn't enough to tempt me, because it costs $800. So, you're right, probably isn't worth arguing it. Who's plopping $500 on a new computer? I know I'm not! I'll stick with the cheap $250 laptops, thank you. Besides, I just got the one I'm using right now this past June. I won't be grabbing another computer for quite some time. Well, very few FPSs are made exlusively for PC nowadays. As for the ones that are exclusive, like I said, they (as well any other PC exclusive games in general) don't interest me. I really do believe that mouse + keyboard is overrated. I see nothing wrong with console controllers. I've been playing L4D and L4D2 just fine.
-
Exactly my point. The only thing that could possibly tempt me into PC gaming is PC exclusive games. And sorry, but there's absolutely no PC exclusive game that interests me in the slightest.
-
Of all the things that I disliked about the 360 demo, the technical level of the graphics wasn't one of them. I think it looks fine, on that level. Too colorful? Yes. Too bright? Yes. Too outdated? No, not at all. And this, my friends, is why I'll neeeeeeeeeeever get a gaming PC. Am I the only one who thinks that 800 smackeroos is just too much to spend on hardware alone? Do you know how many games (on several different consoles), controllers (for several different consoles), Gamefly subscriptions, or even better TVs or surround sound systems I could get with that kind of moolah?! And the craziest part is, $800 is only considered DECENT! What kind of ludicrous amounts must I spend to get something noteworthy?!?!?! It just doesn't seem worth it to me, and I don't think it ever will.

I think the lack of creepyness has more to do with daylight, more vibrant colors, and the new music more than the fact that we "lost our L4D creepyness-virginity." I know it's still there, because the new witch's crying disturbed my inner gamer. Not by much, mind you, but I still felt creeped out. But that was the only time. Everything else didn't disturb me in the slightest.

Just played the demo for 45 minutes on my 360 (can't play it on my computer, and I wouldn't want to if I could). And, well, I'm mixed, just like a lot of people. Likes: Melee weapons. Well, actually, I'm just talking about the Machete. Holy crap, I was in my glory when first got my hands on it! Forget the other ones, they seemed much more useless to me! Chopping off an infected's head, seeing the blood from his neck spurt out like a geyser? Priceless! The Magnum was quite lovely. I'm willing to trade in double pistols and 30 ammo for it's awesome damage and range. Really glad to see different infected, I was getting very tired of using a hunter 6 times in a row during versus play. I also love the extra amount of variety like Adrenaline, Defribrilators, different types of rifles, ammo, and so on. Variety is the spice of life, am I right? Dislikes: Where is the grit? Where is the serious tone? Where is that sense of being overwhelmed and overcome with despair/hopelessness? The inclusion of daylight probably has something to do with it. It just doesn't feel right to be taking down zombies without moonlight. The flashlight is much less useful, now. The music has gotten a makeover (or should I say remix?), and it just doesn't do it for me. Everything feels somewhat more cartoony; a tiny bit less scary, and a little more silly. And obviously, these new survivors lack character. Ellis seems like the only entertaining one of the bunch, and he doesn't hold a candle to the likes of Francis or Bill. You know, it's just a demo, so we'll see how it goes. Stupid as this might sound, the auto-shottie earned 50% of my love and respect for L4D1, so I'm waiting to see how the 12-Gauge compares in L4D2. And may God have mercy on Valve if it's any less useful. I've heard that Black Friday is going to drop ODST's and L4D2's prices down to $40. Can anyone confirm, and tell me how long this deal lasts? I probably won't buy L4D2 for full price, so this is all I can hope for.

Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews
JCvgluvr replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
Eh, this was better than no update at all, but it seemed rather pointless. It certainly shouldn't have been classified as a review. More like aimless, vulgar ramblings. I don't know. I liked it, but it shouldn't have been a review... -
Halo 3: Multiplayer is fun and lasts a long time, if utilized in short bursts. Campaign lasts a short time, can be beaten in one long burst. Mediocre ending with a terrible boss and an epic final escape. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story: This game is really funny. Bowser steals the show with his awesome-ish antics. This game excites my globins... Castlevania 2: This game is hard. And unfair. It requires a guide to beat, or psychic abilities, plus super-human levels of patience. Metroid Prime Trilogy: The first one is mind-blowing. The second one isn't. The third one even less so. Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Multiplayer is fun and lasts a long time, if utilized in short bursts. Subspace Emissary lasts long too, but isn't nearly as fun, and is much more tedious, especially if played more than once. Screw you Sakurai for making us trip.
