  1. The music for VF4 wasn't great imo. I haven't played VF2, but I can vouch for The original VF soundtrack... I'm planning on doing a Akria Theme Remix from that game at some point
  2. This is just awesome, the bass line is killer, but when joined by those groovy as hell drums... just epic. I also love the leads that you chose, that guitar synth rocks. Even the ending was awesome, although unexpected. Basically, awesome. Not got anything bad to say here, downloading now =D
  3. Great to see this one finally posted sounds a lot better than the older version I have - better update it. That bass line is killer. Good stuff all around rozo nice work
  4. Ok, this is me adding final touches. I've sent this version to anso for a quick check before I submit http://www.tindeck.com/audio/fileshack/h/hidh-Snowboardin'%20Sonic%20Edit%202.mp3
  5. Interesting... I think it may be coincidence tho.
  6. Battle Area Toshinden 2 It was crap, but the music was so good I played it all time, damn video game composers
  7. Ok, I like the arrangement, sounds awesome, killer solo as well The production on this sounds seriously overdone though O_O The bass kick at the intro sounds over-compressed and as soon as the drums kick in, it ruins the mix for me. The drums sound VERY distorted to the point that it sounds like there is consistent noise distortion in the background. I have heard music in the past where this is done intentionally, but it never sounds good to my ears personally. That said, everything else sounds great. I like the arrangement but the over compression and distortion on the drums really puts me off this one
  8. My latest update Bass is too quiet as a self crit. Nearing completion Click here to listen!
  9. silver surfer and tmnt for nes both in the same remix? well, either you know a lot of video game tunes, or you where unlucky with your choice of games to buy for the nes I gotta agree with rozo here drums sound awful. Too quiet for a start dont have much punch at all. The guitar noise at the intro - ouch - get rid of that. Also about one third of the track in, your rhythm and solo guitars clash (where you do a solo with that warm blues lead) and sound out of sync, and it doesn't sound great. Fix that. You phased lead guitar sounds alright, but your other lead guitar, the blues crunch drive sound has very little gain and doesn't sound meaty enough. Increasing the mids of your guitars may help in fattening out the guitar and some compression wouldn't go amiss either, but you are better off asking sixto or fishy. Good luck with this dude
  10. Hehe... Remember this? I subbed this one a while back and it was rejected. Bah. However, I did get 3 yeses, so I am heading in the right direction. Well, I have updated it, have a listen, any crits would be welcome. Worried about the drums, but I'll sort them. I have added more variation - to drum parts, ice cap melody parts, arpeggios, blah blah blah. I have also updated production. Removed the tons of reverb. Here is the link - Click here to listen! Snare sounds horrible, I know I will sort that. And the link to the decision - http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18231 Its a long read - I got tons of feedback
  11. Why is everyone focusing on the creative writing? I don't think thats the biggest issue here... I think you have done well in varying the backing chords, and that is half the battle. Variation in the melodies and more variations in the second repeat of the source (chords and melody) and you are there in my opinion. Not to mention the original backing at 1.11 shows that you can write creatively Yes, there are no original sections comments, but from what i've seen, you have some idea of how to write original sections. I suggest writing an original section for your next update, see how it turns out. Ok, so crits - Bad samples. You have some ok ones I guess, but most sound bland and boring. Not something I think you should focus on at the moment, but it is something you will need to address later on. There are some clashing notes - like the lower note in your melody at 0.23, is incorrect. Bring that note up a semi-tone (one note) and all subsequent others like it. Also, there are notes that clash with your new chord sequence at 1.11 onwards. I know that the notes are correct compared to the original, but they don't fly with the new chord sequence. Fix those off notes and you will have a variation of the melody Levels. This track isn't mixed well at all. I think the backing (not including the drums) are too loud to the lead instrument. The bass, and the synth (which I like btw ) are competing with the lead instruement for domination of the track at the moment and it is making your track sound too intense, and tiring for the ears. Sort out the levels as well. So, in a nutshell - Write an original section Fix clashing lead notes Fix levels. looking forward to your next update
  12. What? No love for this remix? The first time I heard this one, I wasn't sure about it, but it has grown on me over time Not Mcvaffe's best by any means, but certainly worth a listen
  13. movies based off videos games 90% of the time are crap imo. Lets hope this is not one of those times, but its likely.
  14. A new update I'm going too fast for feedback now lol http://www.tindeck.com/audio/my/nort/Wind-Fish-Edit-3
  15. Haha, thats the second best remix name I have ever come across Well, I haven't heard the source, but this is great. Unique style, great production, and arrangement. I have nothing bad to say about this
  16. I'm not sure about this one. I'm loving the arrangement, it has lots of energy. The sounds don't quite mesh well to me tho, I'm especially not a fan of that guitar sound Don't take that the wrong way tho, I do like it Not to mention I haven't played the game - YET. If it works with the game - and it does very well according to reviewers here - thats good enough for me
  17. At first, I wasn't sure if I liked the style, but it has a unique charm to it that I just love Really liking this, awesome stuff
  18. Ok, I have further increased the production (i had seriously overdone it, bass and high frequencies were creating unwanted distortion in certain instruments, I will not remove older posts from now on, for those that wish to critique my track in more depth Here is the link to my newest version Waking the fish
  19. Ok, arrangement is done in my eyes, I think there is enough variation to pass there. At the moment I am working on production, I have increase the volume - a lot - and adjusted compression, EQ, stereo spacing, and maximizing to try and get the biggest and most powerful sound I can out of this. I think I am hearing bits of unwanted distortion, i am unsure (my ears are tired) but if so, I will remove it. Thoughts? Waking the Fish
  20. I have made some more tweaks, changed snare and clap sounds, changed the tone of the bass to give it more punch, changed some of the levels slightly. Listening to jenova celestial (do I REALLY have to provide a link???) the difference is insane production-wise, I don't expect to get it to a level of production as that but I will be making plenty of small tweaks for a short while. Oh, and I KNOW its too quiet, i'm working on it (I'm having trouble making it any louder without horrible clipping, and yes, I have tried compression, EQ, normalizing etc. so yeah, I'm working on that) Anyway, here is the newest update. Enjoy! http://www.tindeck.com/audio/fileshack/n/nsnm-Waking%20The%20Fish%20Edit.mp3
  21. Not bad I did like this, the arrangement was great, and for over 6 minutes, it didn't get boring, which is a very hard feat to achieve - well done However, I did have a few small problems - Like the judges, I thought the piano sounded a little fake. but the biggest problem for me was the amount of sustain and reverb on the piano, particularly at the beginning. Some of the chords bled into each other and they clashed as a result, I didn't like the sound of that much. The judges didn't comment on that, so maybe thats just me. Anyway, nice work
  22. This is an unusual little mix, but in a very good way. Its very imaginative, and has some very creative ideas. I also enjoyed the lead sequencing Some of the sounds are a little simple (this mix certainly has an 8-bit feel to it) but it works great Nice work
  23. Here is my latest update dudes I haven't done much to the arrangment, but I have tweaked the production, removed muddiness by tweaking levels and EQing certain instruments to remove some of the piercing high frequencies like on the 'Daft Punk' lea. Sounding even better http://www.tindeck.com/audio/fileshack/n/nsnm-Waking%20The%20Fish%20Edit.mp3
  24. Nah I'm not going to sub yet, Its great but not perfect yet lol. I'm going to clear the muddiness in the track and try out ideas that you guys have come up with. If this is to pass, I'm going to have to pull out all the production tricks in the book, as that is where I fall short I'm not going to sub this unless I am sure it will be passed. Question: I'm a little worried about my drum part. I know that this is trance, and you need repetition on the drums, but that has play a major factor in NO decisions in the past. What do you guys think of the backing drums? Too repetitive? Any suggestions on that if so? And does the track have a good direction in your opinion? Thanks guys, Update (hopefully final lol) will come soon Thanks for the great feedback, keep it coming!
  25. Nicely done anso. I don't have a 360 unfortunately However I am downloading the soundtrack One question though, is the soundtrack available to be remixed on OCR?
