  1. That's a loaded question in a site titled Overclocked ReMix, where the "M" is of import. Vets please correct me if I'm wrong. In absolute terms, you're re-mixing if you retain the vast majority of the original arrangement but change the mixing. And you're arranging (or re-arranging, as the case would be) if you interpret/alter the source. Now, if you're seeking to give your own take to a video game music source, and you creatively build upon/alter the source and mix it well, then you have a potential Overclocked ReMix.
  2. Late-night salute! Anyone who can humble you and make you respect him in the same turn has something good going on. Happy birthday to one of the coolest cats around.
  3. What. No venue to comment about WillRock's R3 mix except this thread and no one has commented on it? Well, while we're waiting... WillRock is a superhero. Minus musical reference, I've repeated it more than two dozen times this weekend (now that I've finally caught up). Props.
  4. No, that's just FR being FR. Just finished all of them. Cool idea, great execution... especially with the third when you went to two cameras and split-screen. Good entertainment value too (ex: nice Juese references). Progressively building your stuffed toy collection - with commentary - was a nice, subtle touch. And damn, I never knew holy water was so cheap. Might want to update (or remove) that hit-counter on your last video though. It's well over 14k now!
  5. zircon beat me to it. Could be a filtering problem on their end (I don't have a fancy-pants signal grapher thing so I can't confirm/deny), but crappy speakers could also be the case... it certainly could be in mine. 25 years, but 18kHz in spirit. Psst it's not a bad thing when they think you can't hear them.
  6. That was "if you... can find it". I found it a few years ago for about that and I was indicating that, at that price, it would definitely be a good pickup. Seems you can find the Japan-only, PS2 re-release for about that, but that probably doesn't help (PS2 has region lockout). And the I.Q Mania you're talking about is probably rarer since it was also a Japan-only release... I found a 'buy it now' for $35, but what you described seems to be the ballpark. So no, I don't know of any secret place to buy cheap games. Stalk ebay? Get lucky on craigslist?
  7. Orchestra! Orchestra bias! Let's get down to business. Here are the tunes! Stage 1 (the journey begins): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGx8NUmsGj0&fmt=18 Stage 2 (utilizes the same motif, more tension/excitement): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxv75dSnAyY&fmt=18 Stage 3 (short, ominous, with another splash of that motif): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qmfa6kteGyI&fmt=18 Stage 4 (upbeat, hoorah-ish): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H7qEx8p3Bs&fmt=18 Almost dead (aaaahhh!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrTALaa6zLA&fmt=18 [No psfs because it's all orchestral, so no sequenced tracks. And yes, I know they have official names, but that's only on the soundtrack (vgmdb: "I.Q Perfect Music File" [sic]) where some the tracks are shorter (certain sections were likely repeated in-game, but the game is how I know the music so that's what I'm linking) and where bunch of other tracks are included that, while also outstanding, weren't in the game itself.] I'm abusing this forum again by posting bits of a soundtrack that is already excellent enough that I don't think it needs remixing but rather should be known by more people. That's not to say that it can't - or shouldn't - be done; it's just to say that topping an orchestra (with a decent score to boot) is not the easiest of endeavors. Hat tip to the mixers who have done it already. I'm also not saying that this is the bee's knees, but if you like orchestral then you will surely enjoy this meow. Remixers: no remix from this has been posted yet on any of the usual suspects' websites, so if you get a wild hair then you can be the first to grow that chia pet. Gamers: it's a PS1 game that has a nice blend of puzzle and action, requiring quick thinking and quick reflexes. A good pickup if you like that and can find it for $10-15. I more than got my money's worth out of it the first time around; currently on my second relapse. Qube: it's what's for dinner. These aren't the Qubes you're looking for. Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah Quatamari Damacy.

Change that to Vocophobes and you have yourself a winner.
  12. Have a great birthday and thanks for all the boisterous sax.
  13. A sex-change operation in the middle of a formal ball? OCR is weird.
  14. Such criticism would carry almost as much weight as 'vocals sux' or 'make your free music better'. But yeah, you're probably right. The annoyance with having to ignore so many ungrateful posts could very well negate the joy of giving an easter egg of sorts. But if there's a change of heart let me know. I'd dive in the trenches for this. I'd go on troll patrol.
  15. Well, if it were only a torrent, then the only drawbacks would be the collecting hard drive's storage space and the fact that the mixes would have to be listened to twice - once for the mp3 submission and a second time for the flac (or whathaveyou) after the mix is posted. So no, the submission policy wouldn't have to change; this would only be for posted mixes. The onus would be on the artist to forward the flac after his mix was posted, and you wouldn't want to allow it for mixes before the the policy addendum (if this gets the greenlight at say 2400, 2313 couldn't resend a flac). It certainly wouldn't be a priority, and it would be a bit of work to QC the flacs, and yeah the flac torrent would never be pretty and complete, but it seems to me it would be feasible. And I'd put money down that you'd get a lot more mixers willing to forward a flac once for a torrent than responding to PM requests, so it would be a boon for audiophiles. What I'm saying is that I think there's merit enough to at least consider tacking this onto the bottom of the gigantic list of things djp and co want to do with the site, since bandwidth really wouldn't be a "no override" here. Fat chance now but maybe in n years?
  16. Sweet! I missed that bit about the album being a definite thing (and not just a possibility per the first post), so my bad there. But double-sweet on the album being a definite thing!
  17. We are the collective jockstrap of the internet. No fun. All support.
