wip Earthworm Jim - use your head remix 3rd rendition
SoulinEther replied to HoboKa's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
sure. let's see if i can express this graphically (i'll try to keep my pants on but i make no guarantees ) .... .... .... .... <- four beats, divided up into four (each . would be a sixteenth note) right now, in the bass in the intro, you have X... X..X .XX. X.X. I am suggesting that you eventually divide your first beat up: X.X. X..X .XX. X.X. and possibly: XXX. X..X .XX. X.X. I suggest these because I like how the first one has a sort of repetition (or something) of X.X and the second one.. maybe just because. I think I've seen Gario use a better system.. something like 1e&a2e&a3e&a4e&a. Or maybe that's something I've heard. Idk. -

the dominant rhythm i'm hearing in the bass is (forgive my rhythm notational ignorance) 1 2 2.75 3.25 3.5 4 4.5. I think I heard you break down the first beat to make 1 1.5 in one section - I would consider trying it for the main rhythm as part of the progression of the piece, perhaps even going to 1 1.25 1.5 (since you have 16th notes all over this, I think it fits). It's not a huge change but it might help. You might want to consider a "solo"/new melody/new rhythm (perhaps a combination of those) instead of the same 16th note pattern between 2:58 and 3:15 - I can hear something else work there to add interest. -
wip Total Annihilation: Kingdoms - Lokkenelektronika

i know, i'll post an update maybe this weekend but at like two minutes i'm looking at like 30% source usage atm. though i think i have bigger issues right now than source - need something to bring it all together, as you said..i think I have an idea of what... maybe. I'll try to take a look at your EWJ remix tomorrow, when it's not almost 3 in the morning lol. Sadly this is the only quiet time I have when I can focus on what I'm doing for more than ten minutes at a time... not forever I hope. -
wip Total Annihilation: Kingdoms - Lokkenelektronika

Yeah, I am meandering a bit here. I am rethinking a few parts of this and I think I've figured out a satisfactory way to connect these two pieces as part of a larger build. I just recently added the guitar-ish synth and I'm not sure if I'm happy with how it sits in the piece. A lot of the instrumentation I'm unsure about, frankly. This is something I've been working on for a while but only recently worked up the courage to post. And Kingdoms isn't quite a sequel - it's another RTS with similar mechanics but it takes place in a sort of Middle Ages world with magic and bows/swords/wood/catapults/etc. Supreme Commander (and Supreme Commander 2) are more spiritual successors to the game that, so I understand, have a similar setting as TA. -

I confess to having cracked a terrible joke... I'll leave..

I was 12 when I started playing Diablo 2. Didn't have a microphone (did vent even exist in 2002?). I joined a guild and despite the fact that, in hindsight, I recognize that I kind of sucked at playing the game, most everyone that found out about my age was shocked - I guess I just knew how to use English well and in a polite fashion.. the guild was a good manner one, and I decided that there's no point in trying to be what I'm not (a douche bag [lolright]). I think my biggest problems in life stem from typing/chatting more than speaking and reading (literature) during early adolescence. I imagine I'd be thousands of times more articulate in person/over vent. So... even though those whiny kids are truthfully annoying, at least they'll probably grow up and become functional, articulate, older assholes. And that's all that really matters. God, now I tell people I'm 19 and I get asked to leave... what the hell.

UPDATE: See post way below for latest version / details! I don't know why I put an exclamation point either - this is hardly exciting! (or if you're lazy, VERSION 2: http://www.box.net/shared/le508qxvfg) http://www.box.net/shared/3djqouevi7 (if you're still reading) Jeremy soule is like my hero. Alright, he isn't, but I loved his Total Annihilation and TA:Kingdoms soundtracks - the former representing epic war theater and the latter an ethnic grab-bag, or something. So, to honor this bloke, I've started on an electronica remix of one of Taros' themes from TA:K. I could bore you with my personal life and my fondness for Lokken's side, but that will only get in the way of everything. I have no idea what style I'm going for. But expect some four on the floor. And. Previous sentence intended as is. I have two unconnected, unfinished parts at the moment. There are... no actual chords to speak of. And I'm still figuring out how to bridge the pieces and where I want this to go. I'll take any crits (I'm aware there's a little bit of clipping in the second half). I haven't even touched the ...middle part of the song that connects the repeated halves yet... but I will eventually. The name is up in the air at the moment, but I think I might go with the one in the title over the one on the file. edit: Source: it's pretty... sparse. I know, I've traded such intricate percussion for four on the floor.edit 2.5: my first post here woo.

That's the most disgusting thing I've heard today. uh..link plz?

Egypt, circa 1996. Mega Man 2. I finally made it to Dr. Wily's stage. Every time I made it to the last stage... power outage. You only get a password for the start of Dr. Wily's stages, so I replayed those 5 (i think it's 5 at least) stages 4 times because of power outages. Damn Egypt.

while that's funny i was expecting this thread to be about a (joke) game where success lies in seduction... all those videos I saw on the news just made it seem like a game to me.

loving the bass, and I like the idea of introing with something kinda instrumentally tangential to the main piece..plus the piano fits later on too. there are a few motifs stuck in my head...excellent. -
aw, there aren't many birthday wishes here. you deserve a lot more. happy birthday x 1000. to the power of pi. minus 1 (taxes :\)

ouch. and as far as i know, it all depends on where you click. if you click on the left side of the mouse, it'll be a left click. right side -> right click. Not sure how well it will recognize a left/right click in split second decision making situations and stuff, because i've often thrown it off and it's awfully frustrating just for interacting with files and folders..
