  1. Wow, this reminds me of the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest soundtrack except filtered though Donkey Kong Country 2. I also like how the mix is literally broken up into three "Acts". Sure it disrupts the flow of the mix overall, but it really adds to the experience that you're listening to this performed live, imo. I really like this as a concept piece and like the orchestral arrangements. Very nice and recommended. My only complaint is that since this is part 1, where's part 2?
  2. Yeah....... pretty much this ^ Way too much industrial-ness (almost too close to the border of white noise imo)and not nearly enough melody makes all of this seem very "blaaaahh...". I guess one good thing about it is it does get tamer towards the end. Eh... move along, nothing much to see here.
  3. What these people said ^ Wow... This is so beautiful. Wow... I normally like solo piano arrangements because they make for interesting listens, but this... goes way beyond everything I've come to expect from these kinds of mixes. It just positively drips with not just emotion and effort but personality. This is one of those mixes that belong in everyone's collection. I honestly could listen to this all day.
  4. Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about this mix. Maybe it's just me, but I keep not feeling much of a cadence throughout this mix; it feels closed and stuffy. Still it's a nice listen, lots of interesting things going on here, very rocking piece. But this just isn't striking a chord with me. My recommendation is to go listen for yourself, but this isn't going in my playlists though.
  5. The intro is awesome. As with anything, but especially art, what is there is just as important as what isn't there. This has a nice mellow melancholy reflective medieval flow to it, like someone watching the stars from a castle parapet. 'Tis an interesting and wonderful listen.
  6. Sorry, I've been busy this past week with Finals and whatnot, but I hit my 50th the other day. We also don't have too many 07 mixes left. Get 'em while they're hot.
  7. This feels so saccharinely sweet, especially that lead flute. When trying to be evocative of an emotion, the process should not be forceful, and I feel this mix tries waaaay too hard to tug at the ol' heartstrings. In the end, I don't really care for this mix.
  8. Wow, the war torn static really sets this track into interesting context. Reminds me of something that might be played on the radios at Aperture Science labs. I was not expecting the beats when they came in at all; they really kill off that desolate post-apocalyptic mood that was set in the first half. I really, really like this as a concept piece and feel that it was well done, but ultimately I'll pass on having this one in my music collection.
  9. Wow, how come I haven't heard this one before? I'm not sure how to sum up my feelings for this mix; It's so obtusely and bizarrely hodgepodge yet so overwhelmingly catchy and good. Wow, just Wow... I think I like this a lot; it's such an incredible experience to listen to, and this is so unique I don't think one will find anything like this elsewhere.
  10. Ahhh... classic Wingless, so calm, so mellow, so relaxing. I love this mix so much. Everything about this mix seems just a little ethereal, everything bathed in some hazy white light. Listening to this makes me feel like I'm floating downstream, all my cares and woes washed out and floating off ahead of me, even though the atmosphere feels more attuned for a heavenly realm instead of one aquatic. Amen to that. This truly is a wonderful piece that more should know about.
  11. Very nice. Although I don't really listen to a whole lot of metal, I can't quite comment in that respect, but on the whole it feels very polished and nicely intense. O.K. I was completely not expecting that sudden change at 2:40, which, now knowing it's there, I admit I like it. Also the ending feels kind of cop-out-ish... but still, this mix is slowly growing on me.
  12. This is just, plain and simply, such a cool and fun piece, I feel like a hep cat when listening to this, and the fact that this was done live makes it even more special. I really wish I could have seen this performed live, but I'm still very thankful that I get to hear it at all. Thank you all. This is so going straight to my Video Game Jazz playlist.
  13. Whenever I here something like this that was improvised, my brain just threatens to freeze up. Every note in it feels so deliberately placed that for one to come up with them on the fly is so, to quote Vizzini, inconceivable. This mix serves as a reminder to me that "more than mortal" men such as Hercules and Paul Bunyan still exist today. Most assuredly, this is a mix that belongs in every collection.
  14. The intro is cool; it feels like a radio tuning in. It's also got a very smooth organic techno vibe going on which I'm really digging. This is some intensely purposeful open road traveling music, imo. It makes for an interesting listen; the cadence doesn't feel sinusoidal and organic but very escalating and linear before suddenly falling back to some baseline position. Ultimately, I like it a lot and recommend checking it out.
  15. Oh, yes. I can completely agree with everyone here feeling that everything is made of glass. It also feels to me something like from one of the early Crash Bandicoot Games, specifically the Ruination level or one of the river levels from warped. And I'm loving the storm sound effects so much. I have to admit the source wasn't immediately obvious to me , but when I picked it out, Oh My Holy Freaking Goodness Pure Genius!!! I stand in awe of this mix. Its So Beautiful...
  16. As I listen to this, I keep thinking of the Forerunners from Halo, this feels so... so... forgotten, ancient, misunderstood, the direness of waging an uphill battle, fear in a handful of dust. I can feel the tension stretched through this mix like a tight skinned drum. Wow, the more I listen to this, the more it grows on me. Hmm... they say that if you want to be heard, you don't have to shout and be loud to make your point. I feel this mix was very well played out.
  17. I'm not familiar with the game, much less the actual source, but still this is a cool mix. It's so darkly industrial and quite funky, and it reminds me ever so vaguely of something from Sonic 2. I really think it's quite an interesting track to listen to; there is a whole freaking lot going on and the occasional "rest stops" really keep this mix up in the air. All in all, this is an amazing mix and well worth listening to.
  18. I see I'm not the only one sensing Zelda in this mix, too. But I have to admit that I kinda like it. I keep thinking about how the Beatles in Strawberry Fields Forever keeps stating how nothing is real, and I feel this exemplifies that notion and how everything blurs together.... eh... As for the mix itself, its amazing, stunning, and gorgeous; the sheer simplicity of a piano solo brings out the melody so profoundly. Very, very well said, and I couldn't agree more.
  19. Reminds me of a Wild West shoot out, e.g. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly etc., except garnished with a few modern rock flourishes. This might have something to do with the fact that I'm currently reading the Dark Tower series though ... Still I like the dire seriousness and the wasteland-esque desolation underpinning this mix. Its unique atmosphere and style makes this highly recommended. Edit: Ha. Beat me to it. lol
  20. Oh my freaking goodness, my mind explodeded. Still Holy Cow this is awesome and one of my new favorite Sonic mixes. Groovalicious and a very fresh and fun listen. Absolutely stunning.
  21. OMG! Happy Tenthennial Anniversary! Thank you OCR for all the wonderful hours spent listening to ReMixes!
  22. Eh... no. If this mix was a sine wave, the period of it would change occasionally, but a sine wave is still a lazy, lolling sine wave. Also the echo effects on some of the notes feel very poorly implemented. While one has to be an active listener for this track, I feel it's for the wrong reasons. I don't really recommend this track.
  23. ^ What these people said. Wow... this feels so much like Mardi Gras. And knowing Kefka.... lol. Picture that in your minds for a moment as you listen to it. This mix just makes a lot of sense cosmically, don't it? This is just a pure fun and amazing to listen to mix. Loud and proud and not to fancy. One can't listen to this mix and be in a bad mood. Go check it out. *dances along to the mix*
  24. I really like the atmosphere this one puts forward; a hacker atempts to do his work, fails, and trips off the alarms, and the rest of the track has a nicely complementary cybernetic/fiber optic feel to it. I can feel the undercurrent of tension running through this mix, which that's good. It quickens the pulse but without excessive energy, so it does feel like an appropriate theme for if the crux of the situation rested on a hacker in a basement's success instead of just beating up all the thugs. Ultimately, I like this because the atmosphere is consistent here; I especially like how the initial sound effects are repeated later on.
  25. This mix reminds me of so much Valve's Meet the Spy, and it's as suave and sophisticated as Bond himself. I can almost imagine this being played at a bar while Bond asks for a martini shaken not stirred. I do kind of wish I could find more of this 70s, euro, jet-setting, cocktail lounge, cloak and dagger, spy-esque jazz. Definitely an absolute must have for any Bond or jazz afficianados.
