  1. Closing this thread; warning to user - stop spamming Helium articles for which you get paid. The remixing one was at least relevant, this one's a real stretch, and those are your only two posts here to date.
  2. Obviously, EGM going away is tragic. I literally bought the FIRST issue off newstands when it came out. Did I just date myself? Anyways, it's been a mainstay. I guess they feel the online presence is more lucrative, but for a site like that it seems that having the print counterpart is key. Maybe not, who knows... Tangent, but regarding Game Informer... I certainly *used* to have a so-so to bleh feeling about it, to be honest. Seemed a little thin, corporatey, dumbed-down, etc. But that was a few years ago; recently, admittedly because they ran an interview with us, I subscribed, and personally I've been really happy with it. I hope GI or someone else can at least snatch Sean Baby or pick up doing some of the more fun stuff EGM always ran; that's what's been setting it apart for me, lately. Also, they did that awesome piece on Maezawa.
  3. Got my new Kurzweil PC3, dual LCD arm, dual Acer 22", and moved my BX8s upstairs. What, you wanted pix?? In a bit.
  4. We did, in HD; this MAG was the maiden voyage of the official OCR camcorder, a Canon Vixia HF100. We also recorded the Game Audio Professionals panel, which had virt, Tommy Tallarico, Howard Drossin, Grant Kirkhope, etc. as well as Shael and I, who really aren't in the game audio industry (or particularly professional) but did get to talk about HD Remix a bit. It was rather epic, but a lot of people missed it, so we'll try and get that and the panel vids up soon. bLiNd and Jade were there and Jade was recording a lot of stuff, too. For the OCR panel, we had a mini HDR tournament and I miraculously managed to avoid embarassing myself.
  5. Technically we use iomanoid.ttf, which I found somewhere else (royalty free) but the two appear very similar...
  6. Gave: Men in Black (Blu-Ray) Dual Shock 3 Wise and Otherwise iTouchless Trash can 200GB USB HD Got: Rock Band 2 (360) GTA4 (PS3) Valkyrie Chronicles (PS3) Mini RC helicopters Toro leaf blower $100 spending money for Vegas, baby Other
  7. Which reminds me, as a tangent: B-Ko > A-Ko > C-Ko
  8. Beat me to it - ditto on both the anime AND the OST, which was recorded by the Warsaw Philharmonic. 'The March of Big Fire' is so goddamn epic it's ridiculous. One note... I really loved the ORIGINAL VHS dub of this, but not so much the redo for the DVD edition. If you can only get the DVD, I'd go subtitled. If you can track down the VHS, go for that dub... it's really exaggerated but it TOTALLY works. Bastard!! was a guity pleasure (spell names are all metal-related), the original Lodoss OVAs were classic, Video Girl Ai is one of the classics in the genre (if you care for the genre)... If you can bump your list back to 1984, I recommend Beautiful Dreamer as the best Urusei Yatsura movie, and it's also better than all the OVAs and most of the TV series. It's got this really weird vibe because it combines the over-the-top, Takahashi style with Mamoru Oshii's (GitS), which results in an odd chimera that ends up working better than anything else I've seen from Takahashi, who tends to be too light/repetitive for my taste.
  9. HD Remix wins by a mile for me, so here's my runner-up: Jeanne D'Arc was the first SRPG I played - and liked - since Shining Force II, and with all the shizz that's been going on this year I still managed to find the time to beat it, making it the first RPG of any kind that I've beaten in quite awhile.
  10. No worries, neither did I - I emailed Lawrence Lessig and actually got a response, clarifying.
  11. Great stuff, I suggest submitting something here. One note, though: Creative Commons licenses can't be applied to derivative works unless you have the copyright owner's explicit permission. It's the primary reason we don't use CC here on OC ReMix.
  12. Jeanne D'Arc Seriously. Also, no-brainer: if you enjoy racing games, this is one category where the PSP has the DS soundly trounced. Maybe not Kart games in particular, but for the overall category, the PSP has one of the best versions of Ridge Racer ever made, and two fantastic (and gorgeous) Wipeout games.
  13. Dude, way to be proactive. Seriously, this type of action on your part saves time on mine and makes the site better. Thanks for looking into it, I owe you one, and it's something we would have changed way sooner had it been clear.
  14. David Lloyd: My site is inaccessible David Lloyd: http://djpretzel.web.aplus.net/ David Lloyd: firefox 3 is reporting it as a "web forgery" David Lloyd: in my control panel, I can't get to usage statistics, etc. Jason S.: Unfortunately Firefox 3 is having issues with all of our utility domains. Jason S.: It is only with Firefox 3 and is not really a correct error. Jason S.: You can just continue through that error. David Lloyd: I was trying but that wasn't working. Is there an ETA for all the utility domains being fixed? Jason S.: Unfortunately not since it is an issue with Firefox 3 only Jason S.: There should be a 'ignore warning' in the bottom right corner David Lloyd: yeah that works for the actual site but in the control panel the prompt just pops again David Lloyd: Well, is anyone working on the problem, I guess is my question? Most of my users are on ff3... Jason S.: Ah I see. Jason S.: Give me a moment to check Jason S.: Do you have a domain name attached to the hosting plan? Or just use the utility domain? David Lloyd: just use the utility, but if it'll fix the problem, I can get a domain Jason S.: Yes, that would fix the problem David Lloyd: If I've got a primary domain hosted elsewhere can I host the sub on aplus? can't figure out how to do that with the cp Jason S.: Yes, it actually looks like you already have two domains on that plan. Jason S.: Here are instructions on how to add another one: The agent is sending you to http://www.apluskb.com/scripts/Can_I_add_a_new_answer1845.html. Jason S.: Here are instructions on how to separate those to have their own sites: The agent is sending you to http://www.apluskb.com/scripts/How_do_I_change_my_answer2590.html. Jason S.: I checked with an upper level tech, and he says that they are currently working on that Firefox 3 issue and it should be resolved soon, no ETR yet though David Lloyd: Alright, sounds good. Might just wait but at least I have a fix. Thanks!
