OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
djpretzel replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
Done. However, in the future, instead of telling me how painfully simple something is and how it'll only take three seconds, it'd be great if you could just tweak it yourself and let me know what the fix is. Granted, it's my site, I'm responsible, and I'm the one who should have gotten it right in the first place, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to tell me a change would take three seconds, when it probably took longer to write your post, without just going ahead and explaining specifically what the change is. Just a philosophical footnote. -

OCR00465 - Final Fantasy V "ROBOVoice"

This individual also sent me the same message about thirty times via email. He is now banned and spam-filtered. For the record, that's NOT what the voice in the background is saying, unless Joe wants to step in and clarify to the contrary. So, remember kids: Spelling can help your argument You're never too young to buy hearing aids Proper casing helps you grow as a person You get one exclamation point every week; use it wisely Remember to take your sanity pills -

Actually, sir, do you have an update on your project status that I could include?
-
You are correct sir; it's been a ritual, and I still intend to do it, but we've gotten a bit behind, my job's been busy, and honestly (sounds lame, but it's true) the weather around here has really been demotivating lately. I needed a good reminder, though, so thanks for mentioning it.

Street Fighter IV - is this the year?
djpretzel replied to BabyfaceGlasses's topic in General Discussion
I don't think Capcom would lose respect for making SF4 3D... I think they'd lose respect for making it both 3D and shitty. Best-case scenario for me would be that somehow, through some divine miracle of cosmic proportions, their devs finally find a way to encapsulate all that is good and just and wholesome about SF, in three-dimensional form. It's got to be possible, it's just damn difficult. If they managed to pull it off, I think most people that appreciate solid gameplay would recognize it for what it was, after they got past their initial doubts. -
ROFLTASTICS. Actually, there are more differences than that. 64-bit Vista won't accept unsigned drivers, and can't utilize 32-bit drivers, so unless your video/audio/whatever device manufacturer has 64-bit drivers that are signed, you're SOL. The other major difference is that apparently the 32-bit edition supports a form of folder redirection that allows certain applications to function properly, whereas 64-bit Vista does not. I recently had this decision to make and went with the 32-bit edition. For now. If MS ever really wants people to move to 64-bit, they have to offer an upgrade path from 32 to 64 - currently you can only upgrade from 64-bit XP to 64-bit Vista, anything else is both an additional license and a clean install. http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1426/vista_64_bit_or_32_bit_version_x64_vs_x86

Fine as written; context and delivery should disambiguate sufficiently.

DJ Friendly Remixes requested from community.

As long as all the tracks involved are official OC ReMixes, I could definitely see something like this being popular enough to warrant our hosting a torrent when it's done; cool idea. -
You wouldn't, right now, if that's all you're using a box for. I anticipate that will change over the next year, as support broadens, issues are resolved, and Vista's improved audio stack is better utilized. I've got more than a few PCs, so for me the risk is mitigated - I can leave my main audio PC and others PCs on XP SP2 and use Vista Ultimate on my main multipurpose machine without risking the loss of certains apps I may need that have issues with Vista. I haven't heard anything about Vista not allowing ASIO, FYI. I also intend on moving from Cubase to SONAR, which already supports Vista's 64-bit incarnation, so I'm optimistic that Vista Ultimate x64 will be the best option for me.

I just upgraded to Vista Ultimate. Install took a goodly while, but now that's it running, I'm fairly happy with the interface changes, backwards compatibility, and fairly minimal amount of fuss involved in getting everything going. OH WAIT OMFG I CAN'T PLAY MY MP3S CUZ OF M$ DRM WTF!?!?! ... or not.

OCR01545 - EarthBound "Home Again"
djpretzel replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Here's what I've never understood: most of those commenting on this track, including myself in the original writeup, have been quite positive. One person comes along and is rather negative. For the sake of argument, let's leave the issue of whether they have their head up their ass on the table and just say that they do. Suddenly, comments are made like "This is why I'm reluctant to post on OCR" or "I hope Dale still posts his stuff here", etc. Excuse me? Do our opinions not matter? Does every environment have to be completely sanitized of all questionable criticism for it to be worth contributing to? As disrespectful as comments about mixes often are, I find it equally disrespectful when the entire site, or more specifically everyone else commenting on a particular track, are minimized and categorized unfairly, and lumped in with one or two others who may be uninformed, ignorant, or may simply have a dissenting opinion. Don't get me wrong, I love it when people stand up for their work, especially when there's technical points of contention like there are here, with auto-tuning, that are just outright wrong. I've done so myself. But I hate to see one or two people's opinions suddenly outweigh the majority and suddenly jeopardize future submissions; a world free of dissenting opinions, which will often be goofy or just downright ignorant, would be a world that would have to make too many other sacrifices to sterilize itself. OCR won't ever be that world; I don't think any other sites will, either. I think such expectations and generalizations are unrealistic and unnecessary. -
