  2. I had never heard of this before but I know I would've loved it back in the day. I think I might get these for my niece for Christmas or something.
  3. Shucks - my first issue was the Mega Man 2 issue. I was so excited I left the rest of the mail in the mailbox and my dad got mad at me for that... I remember entering so many of the contests - the Player's Poll Contests, some of the creative ones, like design your own Gameboy (the winner's entry HAD to be done by a parent). I also remember the Zelda 2 special where they included the maps for a lot of, if not all of, the palaces - that was a great help for me. And then the Mario Mania issue was AMAZING. All the history on Mario and then ALL OF THE MAPS FOR SUPER MARIO WORLD!! But I think what I missed most when it left, was the Howard and NESter comics. From what I remember they were well-written and I always liked how they included a crucial gaming tip in the writing without outright saying what they were doing. And the subtle jokes going on in the background - brilliant! I think I discontinued my subscription when I was going into middle school - I just didn't like where the mag was going... But to hear of its imminent passing, yeah...sad. But "all good things...", right?
  4. I was going to post the Long Boots video promo, but, yes - this is better.
  5. Ending of LOZ: LTTP - especially when the credits roll. FF6 on a few occasions. Super Metroid, towards the end...
  6. Has anyone seen this, yet? Perhaps the most insightful review one could ever hope to see. http://youtu.be/I43aQmBKEJk
  7. First off - here's the vid:http://youtu.be/32gzIf9McfA Hey guys, So, I'm in the Navy, training to be a Mass Communication Specialist (MC) and among other things we learn how to produce controlled-action video. Mine is a 30 second spot on unresolved conflict and the tone I was going for demanded a somewhat melancholy melody. For years, now, I've wanted to do SOMETHING to help spread the word of OCR in a demonstrable fashion - I mean, I can talk the ears off a cornstalk about how awesome this web community is, but rarely do I get chances to share the actual content of the site with people in a context where they're not already prejudiced against it. So for this video I decided on McVaffe's Super Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future 'Jungle Jazz' mix - specifically the first 30 seconds. For the longest time I've also wanted to do some kind of music video with this mix - the whole thing - but for now just the first 30 seconds. No one had a clue the music was from a Street Fighter game, let alone a video game. I got a 98 on the project and was voted 3rd best in the class (only because there were two genuinely funny videos and I reckon people prefer to laugh rather than ponder(and I voted for one of them as my favorite, too)). I did read through the terms of use, and I didn't get the music credit on the video itself, but it is on the YouTube site. I wasn't trying to short anyone credit, it just got lost in the mix of production, unfortunately (won't happen again). Previously I have tried contacting someone here about using music from this site in the future but have as yet to get any responses - perhaps I was using the wrong email link, I dunno, but I really would like to continue to do so if that's agreeable with A) djpretzel, and the mixers themselves. The vid again: http://youtu.be/32gzIf9McfA What do you think?

  9. That is amazing. Taking old-school stage tricks, updating with technology for the look and whoo doggie! May creativity be always celebrated.

  11. Currently listening and LOVING it. This somehow makes me think of OCR stuff from the earlier '00s; it kind of recaptures the initial wonder and elation I felt in discovering the OCR community. Thank you all for making this!
  12. I bought the game and the soundtrack - both are fantastic. Nice work!
  13. Um, sidebar (cuz i missed MagFest) - is anyone planning on going to the Art of Video Games exhibit opening in March at the Smithsonian Museum of Art?
  14. Heya - I dig your sig pic - So much so I used it in a blogpost: http://clifftheblog.blogspot.com/2011/09/fridays-notes-3-is-magic-number.html Did you make it yourself?

  15. So, I'm not too active on these here forums - I mean, look at my join date and post count - but I really do dig this community. I really appreciate everyone accepting my "friending". I'm not a mixer, but I do want to be involved in some capacity - not just in downloading free music (which I love) so perhaps through extra-OCR interactions that can happen. Thanks again! EDIT: WHOAH! Finally broke 600! I'm ABOBO!!
  16. Okey. gplus.to/CliffB I...hope I did that right.
  17. It's kind of simple, but fun. Saw it on Joystiq: Super Smash Land! http://geek.pikimal.com/2011/09/14/super-smash-land-releases-today/ A demake of Brawl/Smash Bros, etc and includes MEGA MAN as an unlockable player.
  18. THANKYOU...for OverClocked Removed.

  19. I really dig this. At first I had a preconceived notion that it can't be better than Relics of the Chozo. Now that I'm listening through it, the obvious is...well...obvious. Conceptually, they're two totally different albums. I particularly appreciate the seamless tracks; love it when albums are like that. So - yay for Harmony!
  20. Not at all, just saying I thought the adaptation was good - I take it you disagree.
  21. I concur, however the Half-Blood Prince adaptation is quite good.
