Next time the Maverick Astley team does a compo, they should find a way to slip in John Cena, seeing as he's the new rick roll.

Yami reacted to timaeus222 in Plugin that changed the way you produce music?
Yeah, I love Guitar Rig as well. Although it is a guitar amp sim (and I do use it for guitars), I often use the Transient Master component in there for my drums.

Yami got a reaction from timaeus222 in Plugin that changed the way you produce music?
Massive and FM8 of course, the Kontakt libraries (Factory, Vintage Organs, the Pianos and the basses and the possibilities of expansion), Reaktor is fun, but difficult. And Guitar Rig has some of the nicest sounding compressors IMO. They are so broad, that they enabled me to experiment more, instead of being limited to a certain style
But I'm still at version 8, so I can't say anything about newer additions

Yami reacted to Starspell in OC ReMix WEDDING recommendations list
Hi all!
I got married last month and I used OCRemix for all of our music. We sent as many people towards the site as we could but we'd like to help out on the site too.
Here is is list of all the music that we used for the wedding:
http://sarah.draknek.org/WeddingMusic.pdf
Unfortunately the youtube playlist at the top no longer exists however the list of music may be helpful for others. There's over 6 hours of music included in the list, split up by whether we thought it would be better to play it before the ceremony or in the reception (or both!).
So yeah, have fun with that, hope it helps and thank you so much to the wonderful OC Remix community!

I also can't wait to hear what Jorito comes up with. It'd better be good, or else...

And now I seem to be working on something which seems to be something pseudo psychedelic rock-ish. I have no idea how I got there, and no, I'm sober (at least now)

There's an esoteric programming language called ARNOLDC which has a speech synth of Arnold Schwarzenegger though

For me Celestial Entrance was the only album that stuck, but I've not yet listened to Enigmatic: Calling

Well, I chuckled. But be careful. If I ever get ready and decide to polish and submit this mix, I will take that title

I feel you; spent several years fighting that same battle, and I've been clawing my way back out of that hole. For the most part things are good now, but I still get the occasional downswing.Keep fighting, and best of luck

So my process for this mix this round was
1) Write riff
2) What even is genre
3) Welp guess I'll put them next to each other
4) Everything I learned in highschool was a waste of time
5) Is the time signature 4/4?
6) If yes, add or subtract a beat
7) Repeat 6 until satisfactory
Cry at your wasted childhood
9) submit
liek if u crie everytiem
1 like = 1 bar of 7/8
EDIT: I feel like the face is mocking my wasted childhood. I can't blame it.

It is an Fsus. Edit: I just posted the midi's I worked on. Sorry, they're not 100% complete, but should be enough to help people get started.

Well, for these compos I usually think ahead of some directions I could go with the song I picked. I had a couple of directions planned for this round. Sometimes, when I hear the second source, I have an "a-ha!" moment and a new, better direction comes up in my mind. Some other times though, all the plans you had are incompatible with the song for the week, and you can't think of anything good to do with it, so for those times I just accept it will suck and roll with it.
As for inspiration, it comes and goes for me. I get periods where I can do several songs in a row and then I go for a month without doing anything new. Listening to new music brings new ideas most of the time, regardless of the genre. Sometimes I listen to a new latin jazz song and get inspiration to do a glitch hop track ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Go figure, inspiration is just weird.
Of course, you can just be talented and put out great music without even being inspired, alas, I just hack stuff together so I gotta take advantage of inspiration when it strikes.

This is what has been working for me the past couple of years. Getting a good mix is the most important thing. Most of the time I just make music without any effects on the master track at all. Focus on getting the right mix levels, on bussing your stuff correctly, on giving the instruments their own space via panning/eq, etc. Nowadays my mastering process is very simple and keeps getting simpler the more I focus on getting a good mix beforehand.
Try to shy away from presets. Get used to starting from scratch on compressor settings. It's hard at first, gets easier with time, and you'll get the best results that are appropriate for your track.

If you're into UIlleann Pipes you should listen to Nightwish's most recent album 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful'. It's got pipes coming out of it's (metaphorical) ears!

Well, I'm mainly Power Metal listener, so of course I'll recommend Edguy (and not just because they're from my hometown)
