Sorry for not voting in time y'all. A lot of things just popped up and I wasn't able to get to it.. Fortunately I have a little more downtime this week than I thought, so I'll hopefully be able to get a good song done by the end of the week. I'm gonna start as soon as the matchups are posted, hope you guys enjoy a different style this week!

I do remix new VGM. It's very fun. It's actually easier to IMO.

I would like to be a part of this. For credential you can check out "Broken Wings" remix I collabed on with Flexstyle. He did most of the production, but I feel like I can reach that same level with some good effort. I'd like to do a much much more ambient, atmospheric style of song, like something you'd hear in the Silent Hill games. (of course, staying in your criteria) I do like snatcher a lot, I only really watched an LP of it, but I loved the music and would love to be able to make something kind of dark and ambient to celebrate it's uniqueness. I'm going to listen to the soundtrack and try to find the song I want to to do tomorrow and hopefully start something after a while (Going to be extremely busy for the next 2 weeks so it'll probably be sometime in March). Should I go ahead and claim the track or just send you a WIP when something is started?

just as a disclaimer or whatever, my tracks borrows from twenty one pilots a bit, and i kind of even took a synth part from one of their songs "semi-automatic" and implemented it into mine. it was an accident at first, but i realized it worked well and just kept it in. it was small but just wanted to make sure people knew. edit: blackpanther huuuurrrryyy!!!!!!!!!! i need a matchup!!!!!

I haven't been able to listen to the songs as much as I'd like this week so I'mma force myself to write a few reviews down. ladywilfire: killer stuff. i could kind of relax to this because it has a cool atmosphere. i still don't think i'll ever understand why electronic producers mix vocals to where you can't understand them, but I don't ever complain when radiohead does so i guess it's stylistic. i just feel like you have a really nice voice and it's get buried in the song. that high hat/shaker/whatever is way bright. it's ok though i just had to turn it down a bit. other than that, yeah, i enjoy this and look forward to hearing more. Jason Covenant: i look forward to a finished product, it was catchy and i see the potential all over this one. autotone sounds good, and towards the end i like the way your voice and the synth do a call and answer thing. very good. halc: the vocals seem loud. i feel like they could be mixed a little better into the music but it's ok. i'm really happy you are doing vocals. i always wanted your music to have vocals in front of it for some reason. they're like catchy radio tunes. the flow is nice too. everything else is mixed well and it the song itself is enjoyable. good job. Disambiguity: the lead was a little weak. i don't think you were going for a very powerful song, but with some drums this could be a really strong track. you mix the two sources well so credits to the arrangement. i hope you keep making more. Helicopter Knife Fight: my favorite vocal track so far. i like it a lot. the drums were sick and i like the synth work here. not much to say really, it's a really enjoyable track. DJ Max-E: i like how you take this track to different places. it changes up atmosphere a lot. the breakdown in the middle was pretty cool. very cool synth work here. it's R2D2 making beats. i liked it. unique arrangement too. it's kind of trippy and i like that. Xenonetix: another trippy song. these two sources are crazy. the mixing is a little off. don't be afraid to use more stereo separation. on headphones it can make stuff like this sound really good. the ending was nice and chill too. synth choices meld together very well even though they aren't super crazy or jump out at you. good job. Ivan Hakstok: for some reason the only two azure lake remixes i've heard have guitar. the performance is what really sold me here. when the synth came in, i was kind of like "no, keep playing!!" i'm gonna echo what someone else said saying that bass sound coming in at the end was kind of weird. nice job regardless - keep rockin on! Ryan Jobson: super catchy stuff here. nice pacing and changeups. the song felt very well structured and the two sources melded together well. i like the sound choices, it sounds like it could be in the next sonic game. nice job, keep it up! Amphibious: i like this here song. very nice drum work, makes me want to play it! it's very jazzy and that's never a bad thing. the synth work on top was cool, but once the rhodes section came in at 1:50 i was sold. super sexy stuff here. and thanks for singing into my ear like that, i enjoyed it : D nothing bad to say, super sick! Cash: Not sure how I feel about that lead synth. it works in context of the song though. i guess it's just not the type of stuff i usually hear. not a bad thing, it's unique. more drum variation would help this one a lot. they could actually be a lot stronger to make the song sound bigger. good job though. SuperiorX: nice intro. I'm not a big fan of the snare. the space you've given it doesn't mix well in the context of the song. i love the synth work in this one. you really varied things out and it was worth the effort. the lead writing is super catchy and the countermelodies are too. one of my favorites this round, nice job. Trism: that's a really nice intro you have there. it's sounds really cool on my ears. the snare is really overpowering when it comes in. the mixing in general doesn't do it for this one, but the writing is cool, and i laughed at that drop at 1:30. it sounds funny with the rest of the song. the piano outro seemed a little weird and out of place to me. keep going after it! jnWake: this is actually my first time listening to this piece. i really enjoy that intro, and the guitar is killer too. you win major points for me here cause this sounds like it should be in a modern jrpg which i love this song puts a smile on my face. i liked the green hill transition, was pretty sudden but didn't sound too off or anything. i can't wait to hear more from you! and I believe that's it. hopefully!

Bravely Default: Return of old school Final Fantasy
ad.mixx replied to Avatar of Justice's topic in General Discussion
Doesn't the game have the option for japanese voices? i assume it does. i'll just be using that anyways. i have a hard time playing my 3ds without headphones anyways. edit: tbh it doesn't even matter if it's cringe-worthy, people pretty much don't care about that kind of stuff anymore from what i've seen as long as you're not causing a disturbance with the noise. -
happy birthday!

OCR02832 - Shadow of the Colossus "Trico Flies"

Thank you for this! -
I agree there could probably be another type of competition going on here, but most people are on board for the SZRC right now so it doesn't seem like a good time for anything like that. Also just saying the OP is pretty silly lookin'.

I'm only using earbuds at the moment but those opening guitar like samples don't sound very pleasant at all. Also, humanization is going to be a big thing with this one. You might be a person that worries about all that afterwords, but do make sure those samples sound real - especially the percussion seeing as this is more of a percussion song. Also make sure everything is sort of spaced out with reverb well, that's usually a big step to making things sound pretty real. Also those drums being panned to the right can be kind of distracting, you might considering centering those more or balancing it out with something in the left ear.

Jeeze, just went through a whole bunch from of stuff today. Pretty much finished it, just have to go back and add things so it makes sense. It's only a little above 3 minutes but this things goes a lot of places (compared to what I'm used to) It's pretty cool. Hopefully it'll be in tomorrow. edit: i don't think TGH usually post on the boards that much anymore so he wouldn't post about it here.. He works on music pretty fast though so if he forgot then that's another issue. That doesn't seem likely.

I spent 2 minutes writing up a post in this thread and then 2 hours polishing a song. It seems your post is tounge in cheek but I really don't see a problem with posting in a discussion forum. I don't even feel like people are philosophizing, just answering the OP's question. By this logic why do I even come to OCR. I should just spend all my time behind my DAW and nothing else. But I like to come here. I agree with this a lot. That's how most people's processes (at least how I view the term) should evolve to begin with. Figuring out what you already have and not trying to buy the next big mic, amp, or synthesizer or DAW thinking it's magically going to make your music better somehow. It seems like most people who do this just waste money and waste time when they could actually be trying to do better. I feel like I've gotten better with working FL Studio because I can make very full and good sounding songs with less and less each time and not strangling each sounds to death. It's how professionals usually do it anyways. I feel like I keep saying this though so I'm gonna stop posting that now.

I tried the whole MIDI import thing - sometimes it's helpful when there's a complex arppegio or pattern that I know I want in the song note for note, but for everything else it's better to transcribe by ear now. It helps to make more personalized arrangements.

Kontakt 5 Bugging out in FL Studio 11?
ad.mixx replied to ad.mixx's topic in Music Composition & Production
That unfortunately didn't help at all. Though I do think that the wrapper loaded a bit faster, the sample itself still takes about 3 minutes. I'll probably try compressing the samples like you did, that seems like it could help a lot since it's specifically the samples that are having trouble loading correctly. If anything I might try FL Studio 10 to see if it works any better. The only reason I upgraded to 11 was because it had some amazing samples loaded into it. If you have any other ideas though I can try them out though. thanks for all the help so far! This is why I hate upgrading anything by the way, even forcibly. If it works it shouldn't have to be fixed. D: -

Kontakt 5 Bugging out in FL Studio 11?
ad.mixx replied to ad.mixx's topic in Music Composition & Production
The RAM issue isn't it for sure because the guy who had a problem on image-line had like 12gb of RAM. He was having the same problems. I'm not sure about processor speed (I have a faster processor than my older computer so it doesn't seem like that'd be it), but when you say loading uncompressed samples do you mean that I'd have to compress my samples to begin with? I installed this sample right off the native instruments website so I'm not sure if there was any other steps. It's about 2.4gb altogether (but that's about 5 different samples of Upright piano) If that's not it then I'm going to have to believe it's Windows 8 wonkiness and that it's something on image-lines end. edit: and I'm using the latest version of FL Studio 11, and the 64 bit version of Kontakt 5. I didn't see anything about a compatability mode version. -
I found a topic like this in the image-line forums, but nobody there seems to have an idea of what's going on so I want to try here. Back on my old labtop, which was about 4 years old, with worst specs than this brand new HP I recently bought, Kontakt would load into FL Studio just fine. It was a little buggier than all other VST's but it still did what I wanted it to do and didn't any major problems. That was FL Studio 10, now on FL Studio 11 I'm having a lot of trouble with Kontakt 5 Player loading up. The VST loads fine (though a lot slower than it used to), but when I try loading an instrument (Upright Piano in this case, since that's all I've used it for), it takes about 3-4 minutes to actually load the instrument, and the VST itself runs super laggy with the instrument loaded. Not to mention that I can't expect the instrument to load on the startup of the project, so I have to reapply the VST each time I load the project. The rest of the project runs fine of course, it's just Kontakt 5 that is screwy. I've been dealing with it for now until I finish my current project but it's causing a lot of problems now, the biggest one is crashing my project for no reason. I know some of you use Kontakt a lot and I'm wondering if there's anything you do to make Kontakt run better or maybe if I'm just doing something wrong in general. (Maybe I installed Kontakt wrong? Or something?) I really don't believe anything hardware could be the issue unless things haven't been made fully compatible with Windows 8 yet (which is software anyways).

I think this would be great for OCR, right along with a mobile version of the forums. If you could do something like this for iPhone eventually it would be great.. An OCR app would probably be one my top used apps because it's just so fun to search and listen to different OCReMixes. And it'd be a lot easier on an app than on the site.
