  1. I can't say for certain, but I think it was the pokemon games. I have a very clear memory of riding to school with my sister brother and dad holding the gameboy up to my ear listening to the main theme for gold. They told me I was wasting the battery.
  2. Some fighting game combo videos had OCR music in them in my 11th grade year towards the end. I found the site in the beginning of my senior year in high school I believe. It took me a while to actually join the community cause I was a little intimidated by it. Turns out it wasn't too bad of a place.
  3. I don't know what I'd be able to do to be honest. I'm only 3 hours away from Pigeon Forge so if I happen to save up the cash I won't mind doing this. edit: it might even be cool to carpool some peeps up there. I'd be cool if anything just to be able to hang out with some OCR peoples.
  4. I'm not bothered by the articulations on the strings at all. I would if it were orchestral or something but not this. That'd be like complaining about the snare not being realistic. The bass sounds good too. The snare could be better but to be honest I'm not bothered by it at all. The "source" is the original song. Basically the source is being covered b y the wubs, and OCReMix judges like for the source to be recognizable. Some dubstep songs get in trouble in this area for bass wobbles that don't give the source a chance to shine. You should still try subbing this, though. I think arrangement is fine.
  5. my only posted mix as of posting this does a pretty good job of describing my style. i love hip hop beats, love ambience, and love making pleasant melodies.
  6. the good thing about them is they usually have something for everyone. i tend to stick with their more poppy songs, so Migraine and Fake You Out is brilliant to me. is good too, you might like that one.they just sound refreshing to me. rapping that isn't stale or something that's already been heard a million times. i'll buy that in a heartbeat.
  7. Easily one of my favorites if not favorite on the album. Which means this must be good because the whole album is super sick Nice beats!
  8. .I consider it my best to this day, actually. In terms of composition.
  9. Ok, I'm really liking this now. Once you get some to get that piano done, please get that posted here : D. Also, at :56 I think the transition may be a little too sudden. Also, that drum section could use a bit of dynamic variation in general. Maybe. Yeah, keep working at this. It's getting a lot better.
  10. I just wanna say I'm really enjoying this. The guitars and drums are absolutely KILLER. You've improved a lot since the first sub I heard from you. Great job both of you. Please get this on OCR soon. If I had a crit it would be that this could be more sourcy. I know the source very well and I can hear the song but I only wish the source was more upfront. Maybe it's just a key change that's throwing me off. Great arrangement, though. Good job.
  11. So after my labtop decided to crap out I haven't been able to touch FL Studio at all. Since I'm at my parents for the weekend, though, I'd figure I'd try something new on their computer until I could get back to all the other unfinished stuff that's on that crappy acer labtop. So yah, I have until Monday night to finish this. Let's hope it gets done. Or it'll have to wait until thanksgiving break. it's all fl studio defaults with sytrus if you're wondering. song: remix: https://www.box.com/s/l59t3o8dyi2pzidtatak posting now only so i can apply any crits i get between now and monday. with love and care -urdailywater
  12. I love mah country. Happy birthday murrica.
  13. I watch a lot of video game related stuff on youtube. Podcast are super fun to listen. Probably my favorite thing about the games themselves is the music just because I listen to music more than I watch tv, play games, etc. Im using japanese games to learn the language most recently. Its pretty darn helpful if youre willing to learn kanji along with it. And also fun. Maybe that counts.
  14. Happy birthday halc whose name this phone keeps autocorrecting to half
  15. Hey y'all I was asking about my lost in time resubmit a while back. I think I sent it too close to another sub but maybe it just didn't come through? Should I resend it or wait a little more? just wanting to make sure its ok since its a collab this time.
  16. Cool debut. This one is pretty tounge and cheek and I like it for that. Hard not to smile when you hear the game effects come in but I did think maybe the forest of illusion soundclip was a little too cheesy. For some reason I thought this would end up being something based off the Forrest Gump soundtrack but this doesn't disappoint
  17. Maybe star fox adventures. I couldn't really get into the game but I didn't like the fact that it wasn't really a star fox game and Krystal was annoying. I don't own. Many games I consider plain out bad... maybe ff13 but I don't feel like I've played enough ff games to be able to judge it on that level. The voice acting is stupid though.
  18. Congratulations oon the album release y'all. Ill be checking this out tomorrow hopefully. Those demos were pretty flipping sweet
  19. Thank you very much :)

  20. Pretty much with all my drums, I make a pattern in FL Studio (usually 8 - 16 beats), copy, paste, and make each pattern unique as I see fit. No reason to separate or mix and match unless it's a layered sound on top of the drum set (like an extra hat or snare or something), just so I can keep patterns from looking too complicated. I'd love to get a drumset to just play a midi drums all the way through. That'd be fun and much easier. I don't see any problem for what you said Dan unless you're going for a straight up live sound. It's pretty common in studio mixes to layer drums, though, especially if you don't intend to play it for audiences. However if you're doing something that would require a 7 handed drummer, that IS pretty insane. Lol.
  21. Thank you very much for that :)

  22. Thank you very much :)

  23. Well, if you're just wanting to write midi's, then I think Anvil Studio works fine. I used it to write small tracks out of boredom in high school computer classes and it was fun. Try to make this into a full song and see if you can get a cool arrangement going here. Maybe if you integrate these well and make a cool arrangement, someone could actually produce the song. It sounds like you're just playing the two songs back to back right now though, and IMO it doesn't really make sense as a whole song. See what you can do. (did it really take a month to write that though? That's a long time for such a short piece)
  24. That's a huuuuuge signature
