  1. I actually prefer iPhone 5 earphones quite a bit. Simple and sound nice. And I love the cord on those things.
  2. This is a pretty neat song and y'all should listen to it. I've gotten better at piano humanization since this song, but my favorite part of the song is probably how the opening piano notes come into the background during the main chorus of the song. I didn't really notice how well it worked until listening to the song a few months after it was finished. Big thanks to Flexstyle on this song for real. This track has influenced my newer stuff in a very good way. Especially in messing with deeper and more intricate ambience. Hope you all like, this though. Also, first on Starcraft 2! Yay!
  3. Remixing obscure music is fun because it fills up OCR's game database fast and it could also get some other people interested in what you like, which is very cool. I try to do the same thing, except with games that are only obscure if you're not japanese. It's fun.
  4. Especially with all the new stuff on FL Studio 11, that should be plenty enough (along with a few soundfonts and Synth1) for you start out with. Also go ahead and grab some 3xosc presets from offline. There's a great one that has about 500 presets in one package and that is where I get most my sounds. I think you should just start out with that kind of setup to help you get familiar with making music. If you try hard enough, youcan even make a lot of killer stuff with just free sounds. My philosophy is if you can't make good music with something minimal then a more expensive setup won't help you out too much (except for it to sound better, in most cases). But you will want to start buying good sounds at some point, of course. If you have the money to spend. And of course if you play an instrument then figure out how to record that asap. It helps a lot to learn recording ASAP since it's a completely different ballpark than sequencing (IMO).
  5. I love this a lot. Especially towards the end with the arpeggios. The writeup pretty much says it all, this is great and definetly hits my top 5 from halc. Also <3 Okami.
  6. Well I think I've finally completed my 2012 new years resolutions so now it's time to make more 2 years later. Musically -get a computer so I can actually start making music again -find the tools and means to be able to sing and rap in a produced song -sing and rap in a song -become good enough to arrange and play a piano piece that would pass OCR. Even if I don't get to record it. -start listening to OCR music consistently again (which is very hard to do without the computer) Personal -become conversational in Japanese -find a Japanese princess and marry her -eat a hamburger and frosted orange shake at the varsity -go to some kind of gaming or anime convention and get a picture with some cool cosplayer. Edit: yay the fifth one is probably gonna happen now. Getting a tablet for Christmas !
  7. I like the VGM composer spotlight idea. OCR has a huge database on info on composers, and I think different videos covering some big players in the video game music industry would not only get there names even more recognized (because some people just like the game music, and don't really know the composers), it would also be informative and fun.
  8. Once I get a computer I'd be happy to do a remix of madoka magica portable. If it ends ip being that broad. It has a really good soundtrack.
  9. So I tried searching this thread but couldn't find it. How does OCR feel about an ai no uta remix? That Japanese pikmin song. I've only played the English version of 1, and never played 2 or 3 or the Japanese version of 1, but would it's appearance in Brawl be sufficient enough for remixing? I've always recognized it as a Pikmin song, but since I'm not the hugest Pikmin fan I don't know if it would be considered part of the soundtrack.
  10. I can't say for certain, but I think it was the pokemon games. I have a very clear memory of riding to school with my sister brother and dad holding the gameboy up to my ear listening to the main theme for gold. They told me I was wasting the battery.
  11. Some fighting game combo videos had OCR music in them in my 11th grade year towards the end. I found the site in the beginning of my senior year in high school I believe. It took me a while to actually join the community cause I was a little intimidated by it. Turns out it wasn't too bad of a place.
  12. I don't know what I'd be able to do to be honest. I'm only 3 hours away from Pigeon Forge so if I happen to save up the cash I won't mind doing this. edit: it might even be cool to carpool some peeps up there. I'd be cool if anything just to be able to hang out with some OCR peoples.
  13. I'm not bothered by the articulations on the strings at all. I would if it were orchestral or something but not this. That'd be like complaining about the snare not being realistic. The bass sounds good too. The snare could be better but to be honest I'm not bothered by it at all. The "source" is the original song. Basically the source is being covered b y the wubs, and OCReMix judges like for the source to be recognizable. Some dubstep songs get in trouble in this area for bass wobbles that don't give the source a chance to shine. You should still try subbing this, though. I think arrangement is fine.
  14. my only posted mix as of posting this does a pretty good job of describing my style. i love hip hop beats, love ambience, and love making pleasant melodies.
  15. the good thing about them is they usually have something for everyone. i tend to stick with their more poppy songs, so Migraine and Fake You Out is brilliant to me. is good too, you might like that one.they just sound refreshing to me. rapping that isn't stale or something that's already been heard a million times. i'll buy that in a heartbeat.
  16. So much of Twenty One Pilots. right now.
  17. Easily one of my favorites if not favorite on the album. Which means this must be good because the whole album is super sick Nice beats!
  18. .I consider it my best to this day, actually. In terms of composition.
  19. Ok, I'm really liking this now. Once you get some to get that piano done, please get that posted here : D. Also, at :56 I think the transition may be a little too sudden. Also, that drum section could use a bit of dynamic variation in general. Maybe. Yeah, keep working at this. It's getting a lot better.
  20. I just wanna say I'm really enjoying this. The guitars and drums are absolutely KILLER. You've improved a lot since the first sub I heard from you. Great job both of you. Please get this on OCR soon. If I had a crit it would be that this could be more sourcy. I know the source very well and I can hear the song but I only wish the source was more upfront. Maybe it's just a key change that's throwing me off. Great arrangement, though. Good job.
  21. So after my labtop decided to crap out I haven't been able to touch FL Studio at all. Since I'm at my parents for the weekend, though, I'd figure I'd try something new on their computer until I could get back to all the other unfinished stuff that's on that crappy acer labtop. So yah, I have until Monday night to finish this. Let's hope it gets done. Or it'll have to wait until thanksgiving break. it's all fl studio defaults with sytrus if you're wondering. song: remix: https://www.box.com/s/l59t3o8dyi2pzidtatak posting now only so i can apply any crits i get between now and monday. with love and care -urdailywater
  22. I love mah country. Happy birthday murrica.
  23. I watch a lot of video game related stuff on youtube. Podcast are super fun to listen. Probably my favorite thing about the games themselves is the music just because I listen to music more than I watch tv, play games, etc. Im using japanese games to learn the language most recently. Its pretty darn helpful if youre willing to learn kanji along with it. And also fun. Maybe that counts.
  24. Happy birthday halc whose name this phone keeps autocorrecting to half
  25. Hey y'all I was asking about my lost in time resubmit a while back. I think I sent it too close to another sub but maybe it just didn't come through? Should I resend it or wait a little more? just wanting to make sure its ok since its a collab this time.
