🤨 Not sure how I feel about you voting on a mix you mastered, Kris... But in any event, the issues I had with the previous version are absolutely fixed.  It was just the soundscape, really, and now that's nicely rich and fills the spectrum.

I love this track.  It's full of little details and interesting timbres.  The arrangement is well crafted.  The lyrics speak to me and are well performed and effected.  I mastered it and now it's perfect.  What's not to love?

Love the vocal processing, especially the higher register stuff. Some of the recording is getting into ASMR-territory though - the word "luck" particularly sounds like you're about to lick my ear! A little too close for comfort there. The soundscape is well-crafted, and the beat is crisp and tight. I didn't hear the original, but it sounds like Kris has done a superb job with the mastering. No complaints there at all!
Arrangement is pretty straightforward, I think in a perfect world I'd have liked a solo (I bloody love a solo), but there's a break/bridge from 1:59-2:21 in between a couple of choruses, and nothing feels repetitive.

It's sounding great! The soundscape is still very minimalist from an arrangement standpoint, but the mastering gives a lot more punch to the elements that are there, especially in the low frequencies. The vocal processing throughout the track is really fascinating, it reminds me a little of Porter Robinson at certain points. I found myself wanting this to arrangement really let loose and fly off the handle during the final chorus, but it's packing plenty of punch as it is.
    Great job on the resub!

Aw STAHP it haha!  I would have YESsed the track originally if the low end hadn't been so borked.  I didn't change anything about the track or collab in any way, I just put it through my normal final mix/master processes and it meets my production bar now, and it would do so sounding like this even if someone else had done it!  So I think my YES vote counts.  (If anyone disagrees, then fine, let it get five YES votes before passing!)

I love the way you transform and layer sounds throughout the piece. Small example was solo synth in the beginning "transforming" into a bass.
Sounds like you had a lot of fun with this one and i did to.

I've had this one on repeat for a while, mostly trying to get myself past the lo-fi production.  It's clearly an intentional choice, but the result is the lack of lows throughout the whole piece---I hear a faint bass pulse (maybe an 808?), but there's not much to it---and long stretches with not much in the highs, just the one arp, which is also pretty thin.
The beat is great, obviously.  The rap/chant is performed and produced excellently, and works perfectly with the source material.  It's catchy.  I enjoyed it, for sure.  But the thin soundscape isn't doing it for me.  The bass in particular needs beefing up: you could either fatten up the bass parts that are already there, or add pads or something else to fill it out.  More in the highs wouldn't be amiss, either, at least in some of the sections where that arp isn't playing.
    NO (resubmit)

there is a surprising amount of sub-20hz bass in this mix for how little there is at 40-80hz. it's a clear scoop down at 30hz and back up but fairly quiet at 40hz so it's intentional and not just a bad 40hz cut.
intro is hip. there's some fun effecting on the vocals initially, but they're pretty quiet vs the backing part. i agree with MW that the bass is nowhere near as loud as i'd expect based on the rest of the background.
there's some more neat effecting on the vox at 1:07 onward. there's a break and the 'chorus' comes in at 1:22, and i realized what's bugging me - the track has no punch. the lack of significant compression to give the background a punchier feel (which you're obviously going for based on that drop at 1:07) is a real miss. having no bass is a big deal too...there's nothing in the range that most headphones are going to put out, although it does sound beefier on a system with a lower freq range like a car system.
the arrangement itself is pretty solid. it's clearly from RRT and doesn't ever really get lost (no pun intended), and the execution is definitely competent. i thought the lyrics were kind of meandering and dumb, but i can't really talk having written the worst lyrics of all time on a remix before. i thought they were spoken/sang well but would have preferred the vocals to be a bit louder.
overall this is pretty darn close for me. i do think the lack of punch and bass is a dealbreaker, and i think it's not a huge change to fix that given the headroom in the mix right now. it just feels quiet rather than low and intense.

Ok so I absolutely dig this song!  But the guys are right, the lows are a problem.  This could be posted and it wouldn't be awful per se but it would be a darn shame to post it with such a weak low end.  The kick and that 808 bass need to slam.  I did a quickie fix to the wav, I put a sharp low-cut at 25Hz (which cuts out a ton of mud, mud doesn't master nicely) and then put a whopping big amount of MB compression just on 125Hz and below, and this is how much better it sounds just from that:    Cowboy with bumped lows
It even sounds better balanced this way.  So I would suggest bumping your lows, either in mixing or on your master, and send it right back so we can get this posted to the front page!
NO (but please fix lows and send back)

The Seiken Densetsu 3 project - because I was on that project for 12 years and shit blood for it more than once in my sanity-defying, reality-molesting quest to finish that god-literally-forsaken project for you testicle-explodingly-pedantic listeners to like it less than any other project ever made.
I feel like I permanently gave up a portion of my humanity to see it to the end...

Hey guys. So after over half of year of inactivity, it's pretty clear that the lack of interest in this project has brought it to a complete stand still. Not only that, but it seems Nika has disappeared from the face of the earth, which leaves me a little worried to be honest.

I'm just gonna write here to say that if you've got a song on this project that you would rather not leave hanging, I don't think anyone will hate you if you submit it. Unfortunately, that wouldn't be a lot of tracks, seeing as most of what we have are WIP's and artist who no longer seem interested in working on them.

I'd like some confirmation from @djpretzel or @Liontamer to know if this seems like the best step forward. I'd hate for the few artists who do have finished tracks to have to hold on to them, but without Nika's vision, and without interest in the project (lots of artists not getting back to us), I don't think this is going to go anywhere.
I'm stepping out on this project as well. I'd like to work something else.
I would say that someone could technically revamp this whole thing, and start fresh with the tracks we have (Maybe like an EP or something?), but of course this is not my decision, but rather the artists who have the WIP's sent in. I wouldn't mind fixing up my track as well and sending it in. Don't even mind re-doing the whole thing, considering my production skills have increased dramatically over the past year.
I'll wait for a response from the admins, but I feel like they're pretty much going to say the same thing. But, they may have better ideas.

EDIT: I want to say this is NOT a final decision. Again I'd like to know what DJ or LT think before anything rash is decided.

Experiment as much as you can. This was a trap i fell into early as a Remixer, where i would keep repetitive beats and chord structures throughout the entire song because i was so focused on the crafting aspect of music, and not so much the creative side.
Kind of like, "this is how a song is supposed to sound" as oppossed to, "what would happen if i did this?"

    So yeah. Experiment experiment experiment.

Oh and also, make sure you refrain from soloing sounds as much as possible. It doesnt matter how good a synth sounds by itself as long as it sounds good in the mix.
