What are your thoughts on HIIT/Tabata regimen? I need to get back into shape after slacking off over the winter break. I'm aiming to get back into condition for semi-competitive swimming, and I'm wondering if HIIT/Tabata would be a good supplemental routine.

Ever decided to go through Massive's presets and listen to them? That's a lot of sound. Some synths will, invariably, be more complex than others, and have more sounds. However, even the simplest of synths can be complex when you know how to automate them. The Minimoog, while rather simple in comparison to Massive or FM8 in regards to the interface or controls, can have a large variety of textures. It's always fun to and seeing what you come up with!As far as making a song in Massive or FM8, if you feel you've gotten enough knowledge under your belt, you certainly can. Ultimately, it's up to you—would the challenge be worth it, or not? More likely than not, the less you know about how the synth works (through first hand experience, no less), the more frustrating this tends to be, especially if you're focusing on programming your sounds by hand, rather than opening up patches to run with.

Good idea. One thing I've learned is that it's best if you try to focus on knowing one synth really well before moving onto another. Open your DAW, pick a synth, and tangle with it until you know every single nuance and can make that synth sing however you want it to. Once you've mastered its design, move on and conquer another one! This is something that I've recently embarked upon, and it's incredibly helpful. Just make sure you don't try to master multiple synths at once, as I've found that just makes things messy and just leaves you with partial knowledge.

Oh, I certainly agree (maybe that's why this is the forum I visit the most, because I'm used to this layout), and I hope that it sticks around when DJP rolls out the new forum. I've just noticed that it sometimes causes issues when people jump into a thread, take a glance at the first few items, and then comment. While this isn't always a problem, it can lead to some confusion and frustration in threads that rely on posters/commenters reading the first post (such as the current OCR Mascot voting thread) if a new user is automatically shown the newest stuff instead of the (rather important) first post.

So, I've never quite understood this, but what's with the default latest-post-first forum configuration for registered members? While I personally don't mind it (and actually prefer it over the "normal, latest-last" setup ), I've noticed that it can confuse discussions.

I blame the ass-backwards latest-post-first default layout for registered users. Seriously though, until you get used to it, the first thing you see is the most recent discussion, and you might not bother going back to read the first post(s).

Well, keep your head up, because with all this "global warming" stuff, NC won't be seeing much winter in years to come! That being said, I'm like Garrett W. Don't mind winter, but I hate the "blah" days. Cold, dreary, gray, rainy. If it's dreary and snowy I hate it too, but usually it's the gray and dreary that'll do it for me, even in summer.

I've recently watched the anime "The Devil Is A Part-Timer!" on Netflix. It's only a season long (possibly because it was made to encourage sales of the original light novels and manga), but I enjoyed it. A part of me hopes they begin work on a second season.

Just about everything is in a Title: Subtitle! format, with the exception of the original soundtracks and the Heroes vs. Villains arrangement album. As far as quality goes, the album directors for any OCR album will want to know what you are capable of, quality-wise. Therefore, it is a good idea to have some example work on hand before diving in (I tried that once, and it didn't turn out well).
