  1. I listened to this one after hearing his latest remix. I really enjoyed the style in this mix, addicting describes my feeling of it. I'm actually enjoying the repetition in this one, it expands enough to keep it interesting. The song does a nice job of flowing between each variation. I never get tired of that little loop. I thought this was a great debut, nice remix. I like discovering the subtle variations in each iteration of the loop.
  2. Why are people posting their opinions of certain songs and/or how they voted? People are still voting, and isn't it supposed to be private? After voting a few days ago, I agree with the general sentiment that there were a bunch of good remixes, and some not so good. Overall, I thought it was a nice turnout.
  3. First off, welcome to OCR! I like to see new faces. This is a descent start, but you really should use an mp3 host. I'm not sure which issues are the mixing, or from YouTube. Try using Soundcloud or Tindeck, I've never had a problem with either of those. For now, I'll say that your remix is too repetitive. It's essentially the one section looped several times with little to no changes, it should definitely have some more variation. The drums are weak and bland (or "vanilla"), they need more power and the patterns should be changed up more. As for the source usage, I don't recognize it in your remix, at least to my ears. Generally, the judges want about 50% of the source to be recognizable in the remix. I'll go into more detail about what I think are mixing issues, assuming it's not YouTube, once you find an mp3 host. I hope my feedback so far is helpful, and doesn't discourage you. Keep at it! EDIT: By the way, what software did you use to make your remix?
  4. I agree, this is a cool remix. Nice synth choices. My main issue is the drums. Not the patterns, those are fine. The sound of the kick didn't sit well with me, it kept distracting me. It was too mechanical, it sounded very metallic. I hope that makes sense, I'm still not down on all the technical terms. I'm also iffy about the snare, not really sure how to explain it. I guess I'll say it seems like it has too much of a slap quality too it? You already submitted it, so you'll get better feedback from the judges. Other than that, well done. Good luck!
  5. Welcome to OCR, always nice to see new members! I enjoyed this remix, well done. The beat has a nice groove to it, really chilled out feel. I like how you varied up the source tune. I'm not sure about the fade out at the end, which you said was temporary anyway. The mix sounds a little right heavy to me. I don't really hear much panning on the left, I can hear the clap on the right. Overall, nice work.
  6. After reading through this thread, it seems to me that the safest thing to do is change your name, Brad. This company seems serious and unless you want to take the time and money fight this with no guarantee of winning, I'd suggest taking the safe way out. Not much weight to a new guy's advice, but good luck in whichever decision you make.
  7. Wow, this one is nice. I really like the vibe of this remix. It has a great flow to it, and handles the repetition well. All the synths sound excellent, awesome.
  8. I know little about this stuff, so I'll take your word for it zircon.
  9. Yep, just noticed the c. Brad said he only uses "Prophetik Music" on his website and sells music under his real name, would they even have a case? Further, why are they even pursuing this? I don't see how Brad could possibly be a threat to their business.
  10. EDIT: I missed the c Also, the home page of the website looks odd. Quite a situation, do you know anyone who is a lawyer and knows more about this kind of thing?
  11. It actually does save your options, I just tried. It sends a link to your email, which brings you to the survey, with all the previous options you selected. It's still a good idea to write down your votes though, just in case.
  12. There is an option to resume the survey later, it asks you to make a name and password.
  13. Can we save unfinished surveys? Or do we have to do it in one sitting?
  14. I think you should put a link to the source, I'm not familiar with it. I won't comment on the use of the source tune. Anyway, the song is very repetitive, it could stand some more variation. The metal/rock section at the end seems too short, and kind of random. I do like the sound of your remix though, it has a nice swing to it.
  15. Nice track so far. The melody doesn't fit the rhythm of the drums, at least from my perspective. From 2:50 on, like PixelPanic said, it's different, it almost sounds like a different song. However, in this section the melody fits with the drums better.
  16. That's a good idea, giving people the choice of whether or not to look at their ranking. I personally want to see my ranking. If I rank at the bottom, it will motivate me to do better. If I rank near the top, that would be a nice confidence boost.
  17. I think those rules are fair. I like the idea of a randomized track order and anonymized tracks, it definitely prevents a bias.
  18. I submitted earlier, but it didn't go through. I sent it again, cc'd to aaversa@gmail.com.
  19. Check out the tags section of the forums. I'm not sure if every remix is tagged, but a lot of them are.
  20. I like what you got going here. First off, the whole song is repetitive and gets a little bland, especially the drums. The mix could use some more variety. I only noticed one change in the drums, when you started the second section. The hi hat sample becomes grating and distracting after a bit. I also feel like the kick could use some more punch to it. If you plan to submit this at some point in time, I think the mix could use more of the source. I hope this helps, keep up the good work!
  21. I love the style! I think it's great as is, really unique. It sounds a bit repetitive, but honestly I don't think that hurts the song, especially given the style.
  22. Spore has a few consistent 'songs' which could be arranged. Such as in the , most of the editors in the game seem to have consistent music. So yeah, case-by-case seems like a good way to look at it.
  23. I definitely plan to remix something from the Crisis Core soundtrack soon. After finishing my remix for zircon's FF6 competition. I know someone who can play guitar, I might ask him to play a part.
